My dad was in the Navy, and briefly served with Prince Andrew - my dad had nothing but contempt for the man. He told me one story of when Prince Andrew offered to take a whole bunch of the crew under him out for dinner while they were on shore leave in Singapore; he said he knew a great restaurant there, and it would be 'a reward for all the hard work they'd done.' So he took them all off to this restaurant, told them "Have whatever you want, don't worry" and they all had a great slap-up meal. However, when the time came to pay, Andrew smirked at them all and said "Oh, come on, didn't you know? Us royals never carry cash. I can't pay for any of this - joke's on you, guys!" (Bear in mind this was not only in a foreign country, but a long time ago, in the days before bank cards, when cash and cheques were the only way to pay for things in shops and restaurants.) Not only did all of the crew have to pay for their OWN meals (and Andrew had made sure to take them all to a really top-class restaurant) but they had to pay for Andrew's as well, since he didn't have the means. He apparently thought it was hilarious, being bankrolled by Ma'amy and the Civil List and all - but for all those ordinary sailors, on much lower pay and with wives and families to support, it was a massive punch in the wallet.
In a roast of Don Rickles by Bob Newhart, he says: "Don said you meet different people on the way down and "to hell with them!!!". Seems Prince Andrew is the Mega Rickles!!!

One story I remember hearing was from palace staff who were in the kitchen having a chat and eating their meal when Prince Andrew walked in entering in effect their property its where they eat, sleep, and work themselves to the bone. Andrew seeing that none of the staff stood to attention made it perfectly clear he was a prince and a high ranking royal and he stated "now lets try again." he walked out and then back in and the staff had to stand for him. A friend of mine worked at Buckingham Palace as a kitchen maid, her duties included setting up the individual afternoon tea trays for the Royals, to include their favourite drink, cakes and biscuits (cookies). I worked as an executive assistant for a very demanding man, a few years ago. When his wife couldn't stand it any longer, she made some unsuccessful attempts to leave & take their 2 children with her. She realized that she had to get away, then, go back to get their children later. His wife had left him, leaving their 2 small children for him to take care of. He was very distraught. I began working in his home & supervising the 2 children. I truly loved those 2 sweet children, although I saw how very spoiled, they were at such young ages. The man would yell at me for not doing things exactly the way his wife had. His children were becoming spoiled brats with a sense of entitlement. I needed the money very much, so, it took me awhile to find another job. The one I found paid a lot less, the work environment was much more pleasant. It was worth it to me.

My friend had the pleasure of chauffeuring the prince when hed visit military bases for the drive from london to the various bases. He took him several times sometimes to bases 4 hours each way and from the moment andrew stepped in the car. Not a word. My friend would say your royal highness, welcome. Not a word. Theyd drive the whole 4 hours in silence. On the other end my friend would say your royal highness, we have arrived, thankyou. And andrew would say nothing and wait for his private security to come open his car door.

Looking back at it's origins in Feudalism the whole point of Royalty was that it was the backbone of a power structure that oppressed the bulk of the population...it was the authority of the monarch that legitimized the power of the Lords and Knights flowed down to oppress the peasants'. Yes I know it has been civilized and democratized to a degree over time but still the fundamental message of the monarchy is that a person is entitled to respect and authority not because of their character or achievements but simply because of the people who happen to be their parents ....over the long term these friction between this idea and a democratic society will slowly grow greater and greater and greater . The reason that "Prince" Andrew's behavior is getting such coverage is it is a safe way to express this friction this tension and also an example of how the whole idea of "Royalty" is absurd.

Most European royals have been brought up by nannies and the mothers were just loosely supervising the nannies. The nannies were often changed because the royals did not believe in emotional attachments and fiercely took actions to avoid them being formed. So the royal children had (exactly like foster children or orphans) to form attachments to things or procedures to maintain sanity. Same happened in rich American families. I met a lot of very rich men in the US with strong neurotic behavior patterns, which all grew up with nannies and in boarding schools. They have all the typical symptoms like biting nails, stuttering, sucking their thumb when no one is watching or being overly sexual etc. Very very sad. An example - Prince Charles at age fife was taken to a train station to greet his mother who was returning from a long trip. When the train arrived he greeted the lady in waiting because she looked familiar to him. He did not know what his mother looked like.
May I ask then as report has said William and Harry's nanny was with them the whole time and then when William had his children he asked for the same nanny to come out of retirement to take care of his children until he found another nanny

Andrew is tall and chunky but the rest of the Windsor men are tall and skinny so you never know. Philip was getting a bit on the side in those days when he was still in the navy and regularly away. Here's a story that I have posted in the comments of UK newspapers but has never been published: Several years ago a friend of mine was accompanying Prince A on an official visit to Durham Cathedral. She went ahead of him up a winding stone staircase and felt his hand slide up her leg and into her underwear. After swatting the hand away she let him pass, then later reported it to her boss who said she should keep her mouth shut or risk losing her job.

It seems being a favorite child isn’t such a good thing. It’s called “spoiling” a child for a reason. It’s not meant to convey anything positive. I get the sense that Andrew realized how odd he was some time ago. He doesn’t appear to understand that sweating is a human thing and that it’s ok to do. Or that being a goofy dancer is also ok. Yet he thinks it’s ok to sleep with girls who are hanging with a convicted sex trafficker. I won’t be surprised if he attempts suicide in time. He doesn’t have a true sense of himself or others, and age will only open his eyes to this even more. I hope the world will heal one day in regard to people coming out of the need to worship others and to be worshiped. If greed and coveting were no longer a part of anyone anywhere, I wonder what the world would be like.
You dont know the daughters, none of us knew about Andrew either before the scandal. I have heard the opinion expressed that the French got rid of their best people during the revolution and since then it has been run by peasants. Their attitude toward foreigners is unfair and violent. Civil War feels like a deterioration in fairness. My dad was in the Navy, and briefly served with Prince Andrew - my dad had nothing but contempt for the man. He told me one story of when Prince Andrew offered to take a whole bunch of the crew under him out for dinner while they were on shore leave in Singapore; he said he knew a great restaurant there, and it would be 'a reward for all the hard work they'd done.' So he took them all off to this restaurant, told them "Have whatever you want, don't worry" and they all had a great slap-up meal. However, when the time came to pay, Andrew smirked at them all and said "Oh, come on, didn't you know? Us royals never carry cash. I can't pay for any of this - joke's on you, guys!" (Bear in mind this was not only in a foreign country, but a long time ago, in the days before bank cards, when cash and cheques were the only way to pay for things in shops and restaurants.)
Not only did all of the crew have to pay for their OWN meals (and Andrew had made sure to take them all to a really top-class restaurant) but they had to pay for Andrew's as well, since he didn't have the means. He apparently thought it was hilarious, being bankrolled by Ma'amy and the Civil List and all - but for all those ordinary sailors, on much lower pay and with wives and families to support, it was a massive punch in the wallet.

I worked as an executive assistant for a very demanding man, a few years ago. When his wife couldn't stand it any longer, she made some unsuccessful attempts to leave & take their 2 children with her. She realized that she had to get away, then, go back to get their children later.
His wife had left him, leaving their 2 small children for him to take care of. He was very distraught. I began working in his home & supervising the 2 children. I truly loved those 2 sweet children, although I saw how very spoiled, they were at such young ages. The man would yell at me for not doing things exactly the way his wife had.
His children were becoming spoiled brats with a sense of entitlement. I needed the money very much, so, it took me awhile to find another job. The one I found paid a lot less, the work environment was much more pleasant. It was worth it to me.

My friend had the pleasure of chauffeuring the prince when hed visit military bases for the drive from london to the various bases. I used to be a royal watcher but now I realize how low-life they really are.
I never have been. I despise all of them.
Looking back at it's origins in Feudalism the whole point of Royalty was that it was the backbone of a power structure that oppressed the bulk of the population...it was the authority of the monarch that legitimized the power of the Lords and Knights flowed down to oppress the peasants'. Yes I know it has been civilized and democratized to a degree over time but still the fundamental message of the monarchy is that a person is entitled to respect and authority not because of their character or achievements but simply because of the people who happen to be their parents ....over the long term these friction between this idea and a democratic society will slowly grow greater and greater and greater . The reason that "Prince" Andrew's behavior is getting such coverage is it is a safe way to express this friction this tension and also an example of how the whole idea of "Royalty" is absurd.
The royalty is hulled beneath the waterline, they don't know it but they're sinking. When the Queen dies they'll struggle to keep it afloat. William's a nice guy with a pretty wife who pretends to be interested in the peasants, but in all honesty, what's the point of him?

Most European royals have been brought up by nannies and the mothers were just loosely supervising the nannies.
The nannies were often changed because the royals did not believe in emotional attachments and fiercely took actions to avoid them being formed.
So the royal children had (exactly like foster children or orphans) to form attachments to things or procedures to maintain sanity.
Same happened in rich American families. I met a lot of very rich men in the US with strong neurotic behavior patterns, which all grew up with nannies and in boarding schools.
They have all the typical symptoms like biting nails, stuttering, sucking their thumb when no one is watching or being overly sexual etc.

An example - Prince Charles at age fife was taken to a train station to greet his mother who was returning from a long trip. When the train arrived he greeted the lady in waiting because she looked familiar to him. He did not know what his mother looked like.
That's an eye opener and very sad too

This does not surprise me, all this sounds familiar. Years ago I once knew someone who worked at Buckingham Palace when Andrew was a teenager. He said of all the royals he occasionally came into contact with. Andrew was by far the most rude and obnoxious.

Here's a story that I have posted in the comments of UK newspapers but has never been published: Several years ago a friend of mine was accompanying Prince A on an official visit to Durham Cathedral. She went ahead of him up a winding stone staircase and felt his hand slide up her leg and into her underwear. After swatting the hand away she let him pass, then later reported it to her boss who said she should keep her mouth shut or risk losing her job.

I have heard the opinion expressed that the French got rid of their best people during the revolution and since then it has been run by peasants. Their attitude toward foreigners is unfair and violent. Civil War feels like a deterioration in fairness. If we avoided that in Britain it is because the lower classes did not feel as discontent and in some part must have been treated better than the French working class.

I can understand the utter contempt we all have for Andrew, I hope he gets what he deserves. However I don’t think all the royals are the same. I have met Princess Anne several times and she was very kind Polite, respectful and genuinely interested in those around her.
There was a documentary on British television entitled "Princess Anne: The Woman Who Should Be Queen". The title says it all. In addition to possessing the qualities you list above, she's the hardest working Royal. Prince Philip lives on in the form of his daughter, who definitely is her father's child. I read a piece on Royals at Balmoral from the kitchen staff. Andrew had his buddies there to hunt with and got in a snit one morning at breakfast when he entered the room and they didnt all stand up. She also spoke of Charles and they had to cook and waste eggs over and over for the exact time he would be eating breakfast as they had to be perfect when he sat down. I also heard his shoelaces are to be ironed. At least he seems kinder but also privileged.
