    I've heard the soffit vents are a no-no.
    The reason being, you are venting the attic through the soffit. Doesn't this mean the moist vented air from the bathroom would come back into the attic through the soffit?

      Hardly lol

      Yes, it does, as long as intake is near. Wood will rot over time if it's getting that damp air, if it's far enough away you will be okay though.

      No, because it will goes back to the attic. Hot air in the winter will create ice and moisture build up. Avoid it at all cost

      Its a no no only if the soffit is vented. If its not vented, then you’re good

      @@peppino9255 If you don't have soffit vents, you already have a problem.

    Venting through a soffit is a big time no. The reason why is because the soffits work as intakes for the house attic they pull air from outside to let the house “breathe.” If you put a bathroom exhaust the negative pressure will pull the moisture from the exhaust straight into the attic leading to molding and structural damage. Better to just go with the roof option.

    Roof only. In cold climates warm air that exhausts from a soffit goes straight up into the soffit back into the attic. Use steel vents , not those fall apart plastic ones

      Cutting a hole in roof won’t create potential for leaks years later?

      If its installed correctly, it won't be an issue.

    Why the side vent is not better than roof?
    Easier to waterproof, no?

    • @DrWarBear
      @DrWarBear 9 місяців тому +2

      That’s what I was thinking too. Maybe because hot air rises, so bringing it straight up moves it in its most natural direction, as opposed to pulling it sideways

    Is that mold in the walls?

    is it okay to connect to vent tubes into each other then terminate to one roof vent? two bathrooms are right next to each other.

    • @killtyrant
      @killtyrant 7 місяців тому

      I remember reading that you want each vent to have a dedicated line. I forgot exactly why

      You'd be blowing moist air from one bathroom into the other. You can use an inline fan that would suck air out of either bathroom simultaneously though

    Soffit is no hood, humidity gets pulled back into the attic/roof

    What type of duct pipe to use? In terms of getting most efficient (condensation, air flow)
    Flex, semi rigid flex, insulated flex, round duct pipe ?

    Would this be a roofer or a/c company doing this installation of the vents?
