Sad fact: In the scene where Pomni, Ragatha and Jax are walking on the hallway on their way to Kaufmo's room, you can see multiple doors with characters that are crossed out with a red X, seemingly past characters that abstracted as well. One of the doors is a black queen chess piece who's designed similarly to Kinger, the white king chess piece, indicating that Kinger possibly had a wife that abstracted at one point
If that chess piece is Kinger's wife, that would explain why he acts the way he does. Imagine seeing your wife get turned into a glitching mess and put into a cellar for all eternity, and you have to stay in the circus forever as well. That'd suck

Fun facts: Pomni is confirmed to be 25, Jax is 22 and he's the youngest of the gang
Zooble uses they/them ( but I think they're okay with any pronouns) and got there before Pomni, so they're the second most recent after Pomni
Cain is confirmed to be an AI that really does want to help them, he just doesn't understand human emotions and such
And also a mini theory but when Ragatha, Pomni and Jax are walking through the hallway there are multiple doors with crossed out people (including a black queen piece, kinda like Kinger) the theory is that they all abstracted, and can't be saved because they went, you know, insane, and Cain mentioned he can't control their minds, meaning once they go insane, Cain can't fix them and that's why there are multiple of those creatures in the basement

That is a very nice touch, but also kinda weird considering how old the Digital Circus game itself appears to be. I mean, just looking at its aesthetics, I'd say it's supposed to be a 90's-early 2000's game, and speaking as someone who's been around since then: It's not exactly something that *anything* back then had in its disclaimers.

According to a tweet Zooble doesn't know what their gender is. It could be either because they're having an identity crisis or has forget it after entering the Digital Circus.

The office Pomni is stuck in is heavily inspired by the game The Stanley Parable, which you REALLY ought to play! You'd appreciate it.
The original mod was already amazing enough, the full game was basically the mod with good graphics (so obviously Leagues Better In Every Way That Mattersᵗᵐ), and the sequels blew them both out of the water with the simple addition of a bucket and a number at the end of the title.

You were very curious about Caine, so i can explain a bit.
Caine is an AI who exists in this digital world, and the rest are humans who've been sent into this world. Caine doesn't really know how to let them out(Or he does, we don't really know.) And basically, abstraction is when a person reaches their ultimate breaking point. There doesn't seem to be any actual method of helping them, so Caine just sends them into the basement for the time being.
That's all we know so far, hope that answered some questions!
I really enjoyed the pilot of this show! Really hope they get enough support for them to make a full season!

That fits. Gooseworx whole catalogue treads a fine line between wacky shenanigans and existential horror.
Thats because the show was heavily influence by wanna those PC Era Games and 3D Animated Projects from the 1990's to the early 2000's, as well being inspired by 'I Have No Mouth and I must Scream' plot with its own twist but mixed with the 'I Spy' books.
I also hope this gets a full series after Murder Drones.
Caine has been described by Gooseworx as AM (Artificial Malevolence - antagonist from I have no mouth) but if he were "just a silly little guy."
Caine is an AI. This series is basically a kid friendly version of "I have no mouth and must scream".
I have a theory...
C&A is a game devolping company that uses AI to create parts of their game.
At one point they've decided to put an AI in a completly empty void and see what it'll do.
That AI is Caine.
Caine created the digital Circus and at first was all alone except for the NPC's he created.
Apparently C&A created a headset than can transfer you into the virtual world.
That's how the humans appeared in there.
All of the humans asked Caine the same question: "How do I leave?"
Caine then started working on an exit.
However he doesn't know how to get to the real world and all he's ever seen about the real world is the office of the game-dev company.
So that's what he put behind the exit door, because it's all he knows about it.
He's trying to give them an exit but doesn't know how to.
Caine also noticed that the more time the humans are trapped in the circus the sooner they'll go insane and they then start to glitch out/get abstracted.
That's when Caine came up with his little adventures.
Caine hopes he can delay the humans from absrtacting giving him more time to work on the exit.
The reason why Caine lied to them about the exit was to keep their minds safe.
Caine explained the exit is a "work in progress" and as of currently leads into the void.
Being in a completly empty void, with nothing there at all, would make you go insane faster.
Caine wants to help them, but he doesn't know how to do so.
So all he can do is to protect them by keeping them away from the void and entertained them to keep them sane.
Pomni’s been here less than a day and she’s already loosing it.
I REALLY hope this show gets funded
You're right, there's an image as the texture of Pomni's vomit. I'm pretty sure this is the exact same image that's used as Metal Mario's texture in Mario 64, which is an incredibly niche reference that not many people would recognize. I love this ^^
I feel so bad for Pomni. I hope that she and her new friends can find a way to escape this digital game.
I hope the abstracted characters can be helped eventually and I'm curious who Kaufmo was.
Kinger is my favorite character so far. It looks like he's based on a White King wooden chess piece, and one of the crossed-out door portraits was of a character that looks to be a red-robed Black Queen wooden chess piece. Makes me wonder if that was just a coincidence, or were they a couple that got pulled in at some point? Also, yes, the joke of "XDDCC" had absolutely NO business being that funny. I think the reason why Caine can fix glitching and not abstraction is that it was mentioned that abstraction is the "terrible thing that happens when you reach your breaking point". So you break physically into this thing when you break mentally and you start to break anything else. Caine mentioned that their minds are one of the things he has no control which means he cannot actually fix the abstracted people unlike glitching which seems to be actual physical damage. That explains why he put those in the cellar.
In the hallways with their quarters, you can actually see multiple doors with people on them but they are all crossed out except the ones we saw so far in the show which menas that they somewhat are gone. Perhaps destroyed or abstracted.
The one I'm most curious about is the door with the brown queen character.

this show left me feeling disturbed. years ago i had a mental breakdown and was committed to a asylum. the introduction of pomnni to the other characters reminded me of how the counselor just threw me in a room with the other patients. i was confused as to what was happening to me, and it was made worse by the eccentric and well a spade a spade crazy people that were there. the counselor gave us activities and then when we did good we could eat. The art style reminds me of 1980s digital art.

I've been a fan of Gooseworx for a long time, so I've been looking forward to this since it was announced. Something about the juxtaposition of psychological dark comedy with bright cheerful colors and wacky characters appeals to me.
Gooseworx's pitch for the show was "'I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream' with the aesthetic of an 'I Spy' book", and the visuals are very much inspired by those books and 1990s pre-rendered CG computer games.
Pomni was stated to canonically be 25 years old after people started making (predominantly foot-related) Rule 34 of her.

I find it interesting that Pomni manifested as a clown type character the same day they happened to lose another clown. My guess is that sock puppet character abstracted when Ragatha was spawned in, and there was a door with a crossed out chess piece that probably happened when Kinger got there (with a game show and an insect collection?) and so on, so there's a rotating cast of specific TYPES of characters.

The ending just hits different. It just shows her whole reality being shattered and it’s kinda sad.
My theory is that all of them are/were workers of this C&A company but they're basically outcasts and asked to be guinea pigs for the company's new product. For example:
Jax: Probably being the jokester in the office
Rag: The optimist
Zooble: The attitude problem person
Kinger: Weird insect collector guy
Gangle: Timid office worker
And then Pomni: The newbie, thus a big target to push things onto her cause of it.

I genuinely think everyone here is innocent . Humans who are living in these new forms in this new place because they can’t leave, and Caine just trying to host his “video game” and help everyone from going insane- since they can’t leave.
I agree, Gooseworx (creator) said that Caine actually isn't an evil AI. I'll just quote the tweet she made "I figure I should mention that Caine isn't really evil, he's just kind of oblivious. He has a hard time understanding humans, but he tries his best. Even if his best ends up turning Pomni and the others into knife pincushions."
My theory is that the headset just makes a copy of the persons consciousness which gets put in the simulation. So the actuall person might still walk around and just thinks they put on a broken oculuss. So non of the people in the circuss have ever been real people, they just have the memory of being one.
Appearantly this show is inspired by "I have no mouth and I must scream". Its a sci-fi horror story about an AI that hates humanity and destroyed almost all of them, except for 5 ppl, who the AI tortures for eternity, making sure they are unable to die by any means.
So I guess if Cane is an AI (which im not sure yet) he definetly doesnt want the humans to leave, he probably doesnt hate them, but he definetly knows why this is all happening and for some reason is programmed to keep ppl from leaving.
It's only been seconds and already Pomni is my favorite character, I thought Uzi from Murder Drones was damaged but Pomni is damaged in a super hilarious way, this world is destroying her.
14:06 my theory is that Caine is just a game AI, this is a game that’s glitched in a way that prevents players from being able to leave.
Caine looks sinister but he isn’t, he’s actually just doing his best to prevent these people from going insane in this situation, and genuinely doesn’t know how to help them
Some theories I've got so far are
a) Potentially the reason Pomni couldn't take off the headset/why none of the humans can leave is that they're actually digital recreations of their real life selves. Sorta like in the 2015 game "SOMA": The main characters volunteered to have their brains scanned by the C&A company as part of some experiment to see how the human mind reacts to simulated space.
2) There's at least a bit of religious undertones in the pilot: The "C&A" company logo could be short for "Caine and Abel". Also how all the chairs are arranged for the digital feast could be viewed as a recreation of "The Last Supper".
Third) Caine is has no malicious intentions for the human residents but he (unfortunately) just doesn't have the means of helping them, so all the "adventures" are him putting a band-aid on a bad situation

If you look closely at the doors while they’re walking in the hallway, you can see LOTS of people exed out. I wonder if what happened to the clown also happened to them?
It was very strange for me to hear the name Pomni, Because from my native language this word means remember, namely asking a person to remember something ._.
I think it's harder to make the glitching effect but moving the model that is doing the said glitching is easy. Anyways, I recommend ENA for you to react to if you haven't watched it already, the first two episodes are short (3 min and 6 min) but there is also a game coming out sometime at the end of the year!

Yeah, it's theorized that Jax is not only quintessentially selfish but might be a complete sociopath and suffers from Antisocial Personality Disorder. Whether he was like that before or after arriving is a mystery.

My theory is that the place that Pomni entered from the Exit Door was the Digital Circus' "Dev Room". A Dev Room is essentially a closed off controlled area in a game only accessible by devs so they can test in game assets and/or mechanics. Represented here as the literal Devs' Office Space.

Creators stated that they were inspired by The Stanely Parable for the office spaces. And I wonder how Kinger would know about the nutritional requirements of the food they are about to eat.
And by the way, when the ring master's eyes flashed blue, that was a BSD (blue screen of death). That is what windows of old would show when the OS crashed. And the background noise was a carrier tone. That is what you would hear when you connect to the internet via dial up connection through a modem.
Shows like this show the wider possibilities of the "Alice in Wonderland" trope, which today most call "Isekai" but that seems to generally refer to the (you dead) ones where the *find a way back home* plot line is removed. But so many of the "Isekai" ones seem to fixate on a fantasy style RPG world, with the variations being aside from different levels of how game like the world is more so on the protagonist (regular person, hero, villain, monster, other wacky thing, etc...). But there is more we could do with this concept like stuck in a kid's show world, stuck in a mech series.
So apparently Pomni is voiced by one of ENA's VAs. Speaking of, would you like to react to the ENA series by Joel G? It'll certainly be an amazing trip as well :)))
Pomni is actually 25 apparently jax is the youngest at 22
Because I had watched the Venom movie again just before watching TADC, I legit said "PARASITE?! *APOLOGIZE!*" out loud after Caine/Cane called Bubble a parasite
Not so fun facts: Idk if this is canon or not but Jax is said to have entered the digital circus at 11 years old and is currently 22, if this is true then this might explain his lack of empathy as he was never really given a chance to actually experience anything which includes that 👍

Episode 2
*Episode 2 begins right from where we left off. The whole time everyone is eating, Pomni stares off into space, trying to make sense of this reality, or rather, virtual reality. Jax nudges Pomni*
Jax: Yo Pomni
*Pomni gets a little caught off guard*
Pomni: Huh?
Jax: Are you gonna eat your food or can I have it?
*Pomni sighs*
Pomni: Sure, I’m not in the mood for food anyway
*Pomni gets up from the table*
Pomni: I’m just gonna head to bed…
*As Pomni leaves, Jax opens his mouth really wide and finishes off everything on Pomni’s plate in one gulp. When Jax thinks she’s out of earshot, he finally speaks*
Jax: So how much longer before she realizes she’s doomed to stay in this game for all eternity?
Ragatha: Jax!
*Ragatha throws a piece of virtual food at Jax*
Jax: Well I’m right, aren’t I?
*Jax turns his head towards Caine, and Caine darts his eyes nervously*
Caine: Oh well uhh- would you look at the time? I have some- important matters to attend to. Good night everyone! Or- good morning, umm- bye!
*Caine leaves*
Jax: Well that was weird
*Ragatha facepalms. We cut to Pomni walking up to her door. Her hand reaches towards the doorknob, but she pauses. By her face, we can see she is uneasy and nervous to walk into her room. After a moment, she shakes her head, takes a breath, and finally opens the door. We can see it’s a black void at first, with one white pixel in the center. But after a few seconds, pixel by pixel, it starts transforming into an actual room. Or at least, as actual as a room can get in a virtual reality. There are yellow walls, a bright blue bed with dark blue sheets, a fuzzy round yellow carpet placed underneath the bed, and two red nightstands on either side with a framed picture on one of them. All the colors clash, and we can see Pomni grimace a bit as she walks inside and lays down on the bed and goes to sleep. We then see her dream. A young adult is seen crying on the curb on a rainy night. She then sees a young man extend his hand*
Man: You seem…overwhelmed. I can take you somewhere where you can get away from everything. What do you say?
*The word “say” echoes as we see Pomni turn in her bed. We then cut to another part of her dream where she is standing in a dark room with the man*
Young man: You remember the terms, right?
*The young woman nods. Around her we see other people wearing VR headsets. Above each of them is a screen that shows a certain number of days. “Day 12” “Day 17” “Day 4”. A headset lowers above the woman’s head. The man looks at someone next to him on a computer*
Man: Everything ready, Caine?
*Caine answers solemnly*
Caine: All set Aldrin…
*Aldrin nods at the young woman, and she puts on the headset. As soon as she does, we can hear a few seconds of pained screaming and groaning. The girl tries to take off the headset but her whole body is paralyzed. She can barely move. Caine looks away; eyes full of guilt, and Aldrin smirks*
Aldrin: Let the games begin…
*Pomni suddenly shouts and bolts out of bed. Her eyes are wide open and her breath staggers. She looks at her hands; they’re shaking*
Pomni: Caine and Aldrin. Caine and Aldrin. Caine and Aldrin
*She repeats this multiple times before finally calming down a little. She takes a deep breath and lies back down. She stares at the ceiling and fidgets with her fingers*
Pomni: He knows something…
*Pomni balls her hands into fists*
Pomni: He knows something…

*Pomni suddenly hears a sharp ringing in her ears*
Pomni: Agh! Ow, my head…
*Her vision becomes blurry and she lays back down in her bed. We hear muffled voices*
“She remembered. WHY DID SHE REMEMBER?”
“I- I don’t know Aldrin. This isn’t supposed to happen, I swear!”
“Fix it. NOW”
*We see Pomni go back to sleep once more*

16:33 the oculus-looking VR set is prolly plugged not just to the computer but also to those other bunch of electronics connected to the extended cables that I suspect to be more equipment needed to run the VR system from late 80s-90s technology.
And the fact the computer is super dirty is a GLARING detail, that machine most likely had been abandoned but presumably has been left to run for YEARS to allow the VR system to run as long it was plugged in. And it’s prolly also an attributing factor in how Caine has GAINED such a sophisticated, seemingly sentient AI with his own personality & likes/dislikes & quirks. Not entirely unlike SCP 79, a microcomputer built in the 70s that grew sentience after being abandoned stacked behind books while plugged in. SO FAR, Caine is not as malicious as SCP 79, but who knows what the series can bring…
