It's "Abstracted" as in they've become utterly abstract to the world around them and given up on living.
I've watched a lot of TADC reaction videos, and I've gotta hand it to you... other than MatPat, I feel like you've contributed the most. I enjoy seeing what different people's perspectives on the show are, there were even a couple videos I've seen where voice actors showed up in the youtuber's chat or were reacting themselves
Why does no one else mention that Caine said that Pomni can drown herself in the lake? You're the only reviewer I've seen that mentions it.
In the part where you say there was two chest pieces one of the pieces was the queen aka the one that was crossed out which means she was abstracted already the other one was the king aka kinger as you see him already hopefully this will clear up your confusion
The crossed off chess piece was queen piece.
This is already a series, it doesn't need to be "greenlit" because Glitch's "pilots" are usually just what they title the first episode, this is their fourth show and theyve done it every time.
The same thing happened with Murder Drones, actually. The reason it took so long Between the Pilot and Episode 2 was because Glitch was already working on wrapping up the final season of their other show Meta Runner. So the only question is how long we'll have to wait before the next one!
Glitch's whole goal was to create shows by people that usually would have to go to a big streaming service etc to make a show, only for it to not be exactly what they wanted from having to change too much, or possibly get cancelled because of how those corporations work, Glitch reached out to indie animator Gooseworx to ask them if they had a show they wanted to make, and they do everything themselves at Glitch Prod, so it's definitely gonna have more episodes.
1:04 Actually Gooseworx uploaded a video of the main theme for TADC on their own channel, and it starts similar to this, but right as the title is coming in, little bubbles with "play" "options" & "quit" pop up below it, a gloved hand clicks on play, and then it zooms into the tent. kinda wish they wouldve kept that in this version it adds to that 90s computer game aesthetic
They probably didn’t want to give the impression that the players have the option to quit because that would give some people the wrong impression when watching.
for that they'd have to be able to even get back to a main menu to be able to reach any options, which they already don't
They do have to secure more funding for the show with merch sales, hence why this one is in pilot stage rn, they will likely get the funds given the popularity so unless something happens to Glitch as a whole... more is coming and I would expect 8 month- year wait if we use the same timeline MD had between pilot and its 2nd ep

There was one small show that had a pilot that wasn't green lit or was supposed to just be one episode, and that was ultra jump mania a spin off of meta runner about an alternate cartridge of theo
Fun fact:"Pomni" means "Remember" in russian. Since there is an official russian dub and forgetting your past life and losing yourself are big themes in this Pilot i highly doubt thats a coincidence

Really curious to see how Pomni’s trip into the void effects her long term, as well as how her and Ragatha’s relationship pans out. That silence between them at the end was loaded, to say the least.
I’m obsessed with the emotional potential of “I don’t actually harbor ill will because thinking through the scenario I think your actions are valid but the place in my heart where I store all leftover resentment is FILLED TO BURSTING AND IT MAKES ME HATE MYSELF THAT IT IS NOT DRAINING AT THE MOMENT”
It was worryingly so, but Ragatha wouldn't necessarily know she stopped looking for Cain.
And Ragatha''s the one who glitched Pomni, so I don't think she can be criticised too much.
“The void is ever-present”
I think the reason Pomni and Ragatha had tension was cause Ragatha was glitching and in pain, she needed immediate help, but Pomni instead decided to ditch the find Caine mission for her escape the digital circus goal.
We dont know how much time passed between going inside the first exit and finally being picked by Caine in the void, a few minutes... an hour?
Imagen the pain Ragatha must've felt by herself waiting for Pomni to get help, but she never came and actually completely forgot about her...
Eventually Ragatha had to DRAG herself to Caine because nobody else was gonna help her...
So yeah that's my theory on why there was tension between Ragatha and Pomni, she was glitching and needed help but was instead ditched and left for dead for who knows how long.
I hope they make up and become girlfriends 🥺
About the chess piece doors I think it was on purpose, the one that was crossed off was a black queen piece, while Kinger is a white king piece obv. This could mean that maybe he and the queen were close which would explain why he is so unstable now that whoever the queen was is gone.

i've got a hunch that Kinger was one of the original developers of this place. It's a crack theory, but what if he's the C and the queen was the A in that strange C&A logo we see during Pomni's exit adventure

@@noname-cx7yz I'm still kinda on the fence about Jax. I think he just pretends to know there's more to it all- acting like you're more in control than you really are can be a comfort in helpless situations.
Well, he knows there's something out there watching, hence the opening song. He knows it's a show, and is aware of the "cameras,' but is still confined within his understanding of the game files.
Jax being such a Jackass (a Jaxass if you will) seems like an act to me.
We see another side of him shine through every now and again when he enconunters signs of abstractions, his smile dissapears and his pupils get really small, he looks kinda worried like this.
My theory is that someone close to him got abstracted (or he knows something the others dont) and he has developed this bugs bunny esque carmic trickster attitude as a sort of coping mechanism to not loose himself...
But thats honestly just a guess on my part.
Honestly I agree with this so much. There’s a chance that his personality is somewhat like that anyway but that he uses being a little shit as a general coping mechanism for everything. Causing chaos and being a jerk to people? Yeah he seems to love that, but I think he only ran away from Koufmo without the girls because he figured they would be able to take care of themselves. Gangle and Kinger are a little more oblivious, so Jax could have SO EASILY just ran past them and jumped in the hole to hide, but instead he chose to knock them in first and send them to safety disguised as a jerky prank. He legit gives off a sort of Jack Sparrow vibe to me
@@N3RDYG0GGLES Agree. Very Jack Sparrow-ish. A person is entirely capable of being an ass without lacking morality entirely. He's just aware that he's been dealt a bad hand and is happy to take every advantage he comes across. He saw that Koufmo abstracted and did the sensible thing- bailed. But he didn't do it without keeping up his ineffable persona. We can see that he does indeed get nervous, but only when he feels like things are going out of his control.
The abstractions mean final death, while caine the entertainer doesn't create anything that can actually hurt them (or not permanently at least) because they are fun little minigame adventures

Yes it is his wife, I saw lot of people saying that Queenie (what people think may be her name) abstracted in front of him and thats why his the most insane in there
Caine is seems to be trying to keep as many people as sane as possible to try and help them
He doesn’t appear to feed off of their misery as he actively leaves them alone to a little adventure and he chooses to fix glitches and bugs that are negative for the gang. Caine might genuinely just be trying to keep them safe and happy which is hard considering they’re in a terrible terrible place
@@itsturniptime3699unfortunately if they do break, Caine can’t just fix them as they’re gone mentally. He could fix the body but he can’t fix the mind, so he’s been forced to just lock up literally every who lost it.

Taking into account that he created that maze of offices, it is likely that he took inspiration from the little he knows about reality, the company that created him.

@AscendtionArc well as an AI he probably doesn't know what "Sane" really means. He's an entertainer and he probably thinks by entertaining them they'll stay sane.
I might point out, for all his assholery, Jax actively seemed to be trying to *_protect_* the much more vulnerable Gangle and Kinger from Abstracted Kaufmo. By knocking them into the hole the way he did, he ensured the two most vulnerable, defenseless, unstable, and easily harmed people there were well out of the way of the beast.
Some part of me thinks he had actually suspected what had happened to Kaufmo the whole time and he sent Kinger and Gangle off after Zooble and the Gloinks specifically to get them out of the way of the imminent danger... he WAS after all the one who split up the teams. And he had a key to Kaufmo's room ready to go, as if he expected Kaufmo not to be in a state to open his door himself. Not to mention when he sprinted off, he stopped fleeing as soon as he found Kinger and Gangle, implying he was _actually looking for them as fast as he could, not running away at all._
With that in mind, Jax is starting to give off Big Brother vibes to me. He messes with everyone, but in a pinch nobody messes with them but HIM, and while he'll play it off with snark, he actually CARES.

Although he seems more a-hole jerk who has a heart of gold deep down than “Big Brother” (especially since technically I heard he’s like the youngest).
that was essentially my impression the first time I saw it.
He seems to be snarky and making fun of the current situation all the time to try and make comedy all the time as a means of helping people cope a bit, too (since Caine doesn't get it, but Jax is human originally my guess is he knows that comedy distracts from seriousness and recontextualizes it to a less harsh tone).
Honestly if they make a series, there almost definitely would be an episode where Jax just can't be there (likely a falling out with everyone fed up with him), and then they realize how much he's been helping out through his hijinks and weirdly specific form of redirection.
It's kinda interesting how few people I've seen bring that up.
I also noticed that he wanted Pomni to go look for Kaufmo with him and Ragatha even though the adventure was specifically made for her. I kinda see this as him giving her a chance to slow down and acclimate to her new environment instead of having her jump straight into a crazy adventure. Might just be me, but it’s something I noticed
Also when he say one of the little Gloink things glitching out he looked strange like a slight freakout and this theory makes sense that in that moment he was worried Kinger and Gangle might be in trouble if the abstraction made it down there

Idk what else to say, they have the EXACT same energy imo (but that doesn’t make Jax a knockoff or ripoff of Alberto at all, before anyone thinks that’s what I’m trying to say lol)
In the computer room, when Pomni goes through all the exit doors, there were a total of 5 monitors. I don't know if I'm over analyzing things, but there are also currently 5 (semi) sane characters being held captive. 4 of which were already lit up, possibly representing Gangle, Zooble, Kinger, and Jax, and the final one which lights up at the end of the episode could parallel Pomni's recent addition.

There actually might be 6 monitors in there, with one being shown from behind. If you count the desk chairs carefully, there are 6 of them.

Kinger's door wasn't crossed off. He's a white chess king, the crossed off door had a picture of a black chess king.
If you look closely, you can see it's actually a black chess queen.

And the hole cast was human except for Caine, Bubble, The Glonxe and The Glonxe Queen are AI with Caine being the head AI.
I love this show. Kinger and Jax are my favorites so far. It's interesting to see a cgi show where glitches and no clips are intentional. I really hope Pomni can keep her sanity.

i think the aesthetic they are going for is more early 2000s cgi graphics than horror specifically.
this reminds me of in particular using early windows softwares as well as watching childrens shows like dibbo the gift dragon, magic roundabout and others.
honestly really surreal nostalgic, and i have to admit this show feels like what it would feel like if you were stuck inside those dreamlike shows

I've been a fan of Gooseworx for a long time, so I've been looking forward to this since it was announced however long ago. Something about the juxtaposition of psychological dark comedy with bright cheerful colors and wacky characters appeals to me.
There's a theory about the C&A logo that if the C is for Caine, there's no way the A isn't Abel. What relevance this could possibly have is unknown.

I love the concept of insanity and this shows just hits all the right spots. Im curious how far Pomni will fall.
On the one thought I suspect either Caine or a higher program knew Koufmo had "abstracted" based on the fact the newbie (Pomni) is a jester and we seem to only have one of each of a set of children's show character types, yet the crossed out doors have multiples of each type *multiple clowns, dolls, wackadoos, animals, chess, and theatricals*, so what if when one gets abstracted (or otherwise is gone) the program selects that the next person to end up there becomes their replacement. That said getting some Digimon Adventure 2 meets Don't Hug Me I'm scared vibes, like they enter through the screen to the digital world, but also that we are on an island/isolated area designed to look like a children's show and engage the individuals there as one but is fully synthetic and the "victims" are forced to play along; but at least these are more aware of themselves than Don't Hug Me I'm Scared's cast. I am also mulling over the potential based on a sneaky trailer that this could even be a case of neural clones (where the characters think they are the person who put on the headset but the program just copied their memories and personalities *for the most part*. So many theories just from this one episode with everything going on it.

Interesting note for C&A. There's some religious figures known as Caine and Abel, two brothers. Considering that our ringmaster and head of the circus is named after one half of them, I presume there's definitely an Abel somewhere.
If they follow the source material, there's not an Abel anymore.

Caine(from what I understand) isn't a human like the others, but an AI in this simulation, designed to keep the other (characters) in check
16:12 I spent a couple minutes looking at this, too, and I believe the door that's marked is the Queen chess piece. That's why Kinger's is fine. It's definitely easy to confuse the two.
Think that's exactly why they chose a black piece with red robe to be more distinct

It is a slightly different spelling with the ‘e’ added to the end of Cain, but I wonder if this has any sort of parallel to the biblical story of Cain and Abel.
According to Wikipedia, In the biblical Book of Genesis, Cain and Abel are the first two sons of Adam and Eve. Cain, the firstborn, was a farmer, and his brother Abel was a shepherd. The brothers made sacrifices to God, but God favored Abel's sacrifice instead of Cain's. Cain then murdered Abel, whereupon God punished Cain by condemning him to a life of wandering. Cain then dwelt in the land of Nod (or also known as the land of wandering) where he built a city and fathered the line of descendants beginning with Enoch.
I’m possibly seeing a dark story of two brothers attempting to create the next big technology entertainment system, only for Abel to be somehow favored by the higher ups, resulting in jealousy with Caine. Caine then causes his brothers death, whether it was purposeful or not, before ending up in the land of wandering (AKA, the digital circus), becoming something seen as AI, and building his wacky city while trying to ignore the guilt he may feel for causing his brothers demise.
However, if it is to be believed that Caine is fully an AI entity, then it’s possible to make the connection in thinking that two different AI’s were created. Caine and Abel were then tasked to create something for their creator, or ‘god’, only for the creator to favor Abel’s AI over Caines. Caine was then condemned to the land of wandering (AKA, the digital circus), after possibly causing Abel’s demise/corruption out of Jealousy.
It could also be possible for the AI to be based off of real brothers within this universe. I only say that bc of the C&A logo. It would kind of make more sense for a company to be named after real people rather than AI.
Idk, this show could go in so many directions, and I’m just excited to see if this Cain and Abel theory holds any weight as HOPEFULLY more episodes release 😁

Ahhh, I thought so! Recognized the similarities pretty quickly. That being said, so far from what we’ve seen if I had to choose between the two I’d go for the Digital Circus in a minute.

Btw guys, the X,s on the doors means there no longer there and they have gone insane, the king guy is still there, but the queen piece isn't there anymore, you can tell by the different color and the different head peace, like there chess pieces, also i dont think there is actually an exit, because at the end cane even said the Exit door is just something that he put there because he doesn't know what else to create, its weird how the exit door moves on purpose, it moves close to Pomni and she would have seen it but it appeared there, that's why she was confused at first.
Its like murder drone vibes with Pomni, how she started to loose it and her sharp teeth started showing, like the Exit door is trying to make her go insane, also they might have been workers at some place as we can see from some rooms, we can see the computer and the headset that she put on, the equipment looks old so its probably been in storage somewhere and Pomni took it out to check it out, where she got dragged into the place, Cane is probably the one that created or the very first one that got trapped, OR an Ai of some sort from the system itself trying to help them reasons why he can control the whole area except for their minds.
Cane seems to try and help them from going mentally insane and loosing themselves, that's why he tries to cover the fact of an "exit", he wants them to have fun and try and be themselves.
Another think about the end of the ep, the reason why the door went to the void is because he didn't finish it.....also there isn't a exit because cane said "I know how yall really wanted one", and she realized that and is going to go insane.

The shape of the head on that one is actually different, implying they're a different piece. Most likely a Queen, Kinger may have lost a wife in here at some point.
Given the previews I think Ragitha is a pain magnet who blows it off as no big deal despite it hurting.

My theory is that the digital circus is a old computer game and maybe the humans that are stuck there are characters that we the player made, got to a level and left the game, got older. I think that if pomni touched the computer, they would have been able to go home. I think that their real name might be the key to getting out. the new jester character kinda reminds me of Tac from The Princess And The Cobbler!
The ragdoll character looks like something from the "Caroline" universe but instead only lost one eye instead of 2.
The rabbit character reminds me of Max from Max and Daxter but purple and taller.
And that whole eye monster kinda reminds me of the glitches from "Learning With Pibby'"!

When the character are walking through the area where all the rooms are you can see there are many crossed out doors and the one you saw was actually a queen piece. Also fun fact Pomni means Remember
The chess piece that was crossed off on the door wasn't the King. It was the Queen, which is quite dark when you think about the implications.
If anyone wanting to know the gist of this plot. I think this is HEAVILY based on "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" by Harlan Ellison. This is a some sort of post-apocalyptic science fiction and is set in a future where an all-powerful supercomputer, AM, has exterminated all of humanity except for five individuals, whom it torments endlessly, both physically and psychologically, as a form of sadistic punishment. The story also delves into themes of human suffering, fatal flaws of each characters, insanity, paranoia, consciousness, and the limits of artificial intelligence. I think in this case, they are trying to showcase a bit on the issues of mental health issues, way of their coping mechanism, paranoia, and insanity. I can't wait to see more!

Judging from the door pictures, I think the crossed out king piece is the black king while Kinger is the white king piece

35:35 as he said before, when naming Pomni, one of the few things he doesn't have control over are their minds, they are utterly out of his control. I'm pretty sure the glitching is damage to their physical (digital?) forms, which Caine can easily tamper with to fix, but full-on abstraction is (or, well, seems to be) the mental breakdown of an individual to such a degree that they simply can't recover. Something permanent happens. I suspect they might vanish completely, leaving a VR avatar with no pilot. It goes on a rampage before, during, after its physical attributes degrade to such a degree that it becomes a glitchy black mass covered in multicolored eyes. At this point, there isn't even a mind to the body that could be saved, if Caine were to snap is fingers and make Kaufmo back into a Kaufmo shape, it'd probably have the same violent tendencies, and no ability to understand anything around it, and I bet it'd just degrade back into an abstraction again. And so it is safer to just take the mindless shell and stuff it into a closet with all the other proverbial skeletons.
And so, Ragatha had an intact (enough) mind, but a fractured glitching body, which could be fixed. Pomni had a minor glitch stuck to her hand, also fixable. Kaufmo, however, was a broken body which was solely due to his broken (or presumably completely absent) mind. There's no point to fixing that, other than majorly creeping out everyone else. Presumably.
I think the coat on the one chess piece door was red. So either it was a different one before Kinger, or if was like maybe the Queen chess piece.?
I don't trust Ragatha the doll, she's too nice. Maybe mystery games like Danganronpa has me suspicious.

It seems like this show might be a big hit that I hope it get green light for a series 😄 also during the hallway scene. You ask about the doors. I heard that there being 28 characters and the ones with Cross out are dead either Turned into a monster. So if the series get green light, we might see more character coming in this show and being more story building
Digital circus is basically digital hell where you lose your grip to reality and stuck in this colorful world well maybe this is all i got from watching the pilot

Yeah there were two different doors with chess piece characters on them, the one that was crossed out was a queen and the non-crossed out one was Kinger. The other character was probably related to him somehow but we really don't know, at least not yet
The art style for this show is a cocktail of cameos and references to the early digital era and old tv shows, video games.

Apparently Gooseworx confirmed Caine isn't evil, or have bad intentions, he's trying to keep everyone sane but since he's an AI, doesnt understand the nuances of human psychological needs.

it's like modern jumanji where, players get stuck in a game (or in this instance a show) and they take the form of the readily available characters. Which should explain why Pomni has a room of her own already. If it just manifested in the day she appeared then there would be no need to cross out the other rooms that have been left out after the denizens of those rooms abtstracted and keep it there, it should've just dissapeared after they got put in the cellar.
The crossed of chesspiece one seems to not be kinger but someone else, the piece looked to be a black queen chesspiece, where Kinger is a white king piece.
Whoever this was has likely been abstracted quite a while ago...
I think Kinger is avoiding abstruction by way of not having a self to loose anymore, the guy seems barely aware of whats going on and frequently just spaces out.

I'm pretty sure the "humans" physically get sucked into the game so their "bodies" would not die in the real world eventually while they're in the game as the computer the program is running on has that "weird headset" Pomni was talking about, but there's no body around for whoever was wearing it.
... I've seen two reactions to this so far, and why do y'all keep hearing "obstructed" when they VERY CLEARLY said "abstracted"? It's the Murder Drones ep1 exoplanets/Earth confusion all over again and just as frustrating to listen to.
