We Taste Tested Authentic Naga Food | BuzzFeed India
The two non-northeastern individuals deserve to be praised for how willing they are to eat all of those. Apropos for coming out of your comfort zone!!!
Jessica is Bengali, so they are I mean we also eats so many things that western people will throw up even if they see us eating.
@@sayanmandal1289 i didnt ask for your opinion tho
The two non northeastern I would say was very very grateful, they didn't hesitate to taste our tribal food. They made me feel proud being an Indian. Thank you sooooo much for the love.
Jessica is Bengali bro , we also eats some wild , but not everyone eats only tribal or people who are open.
Any one disgusted by the food shown in this video needs to understand that India has a vastly diverse food culture and none of it is wrong as long as it is ethically eaten.
I'm sorry to all the people who have been made fun of for eating food that is not culturally mainstream and hence not well known.
Great video BuzzFeed, thank you for introducing this South Indian to other Indian food✨
Kenite is open to eat new things, while Jessica is honest about her fears 😊
I am vegetarian but just out of curiosity i watched this video.. india is such a diverse country
“It’s innovative. It’s very modern yet cultural.” - My reaction to Vishal’s iconic moments (read: every moment)
BuzzFeed India channel is way underrated and unappreciated, i think the YT algorithm doesn't favor this channel because it deserves even much more views and subscribers, also a big thank you for partaking, exploring and exposing our Naga food/cuisine/culture through your channel, Massive Love and support from Nagaland.❤
Buzzfeed is dead in America thats why
Hey man , your entire region is so underrated ! I’ve always wanted to see all of the north east ! We are very fascinated with your culture and cuisine here .
Much love to y’all from your southern brothers from Kerala 🌴🤝
Vishal's energy is just so vibrant and wholesome. His feedbacks are undeniably funny and cute lol.
Thanks from Nagaland.
Bugs are one of the core ethinic delicacy of people of assam ( except for the general Vaishnavism follower).
They're like tribal delicasy , the tribes of Assam have a very wild and foraging kind of cuisine ( me being a tribal assamese)
My family follows vaishnavism but we still eat things like silkworm, red ants etc.
I am Xonkori Vaishnav too, but we eat silkworm, ant eggs, hornet larvae, crabs etc something general Assamese people don't eat. My Vaishnav Kachari friends eat Frogs and Grasshopper too.
They all were very respectful to the food, no mazak just accept the variation of food and taste😊
*name of the first dish exists*
Rest of the Indians: 😊
Telugu People: 💀
Wt does it mean
@@kakashiee it's a cuss word. Can't really translate it here.
🤣🤣ikr
Damn 😂😂😂
Someone's gotta translate it tho
I'm a Naga and I've tried every amazing food shown in this video, and i love all of it but I'm especially biased towards 'Axone with Pork'. 😂
Grasshopper Fry as Chakhna is blowing my mind.
It goes so well with chill beer 😂😂
Best goes with Rice beer
Grasshoppers are insects of land prawns are insects of ocean
Believe it is very delicious, we people run after it in Assam 😂
I love love vishal's . . . . the fact that he was sooooo welcoming about the Naga palate
In assamese we call it eri polu( silk worm ) and man its damn tasty when its served with rice beer same goes to fried grasshoppers and water bugs many more items were not listed but spend some time in assam you'll know it all and i bet ya all cant miss any of these foods cause they are the real authentic delicacies of assam and entire north east
I am Jessica in this video ..... 😂😂 and I'm still in confuse did she eat or throw it I think she didn't look like she ate any of 1st twos 😂😂😂
She ate the 1st one but definitely did not eat 2nd 😂😂
😅😅😅
exactly, you wouldn’t see there hands with insects, those 2 definitely didn’t had the insects
I think so too.
Telugu people while seeing eri puka 🌚
lmaoo
Was thinking the same 😂
Bengalies also
One eri puka please 😂 lol
us bro us
I'm so surprised how they both react so positively towards all the dishes that were server
"It's a tasting, not a festival" 💀
It all goes back to the kind of life the tribe led prior to the British period and even years after.
In a rugged mountaineous terrain of the NE hills where agriculture cannot be really developed (due to acidic soil and incessant rain) the tribes resort to Hunting-Gathering form of life with a bit of agriculture (mostly Jhum cultivation). Also given the regular famine (mostly during the period when bamboo starts flowering, every 50 -80 years) people have learnt to survive on what ever they chance to get their hands upon. From bugs to meat. Nothing is wasted. Centuries of this sort of life had given a kind of a cultural life style to many NE tribals, that is why very few tribal have food inhibitions and hence the food habits are different from mainstream India where agriculture is highly developed since the ancient days.
Naga cuisine is one of the most authentic yet flavourful ❤
For someone dealing with specific health issues, I think silkworm and grasshoppers make for good protein sources which are also healthy snack options.. Gotta find Naga food outlets near me that serve these.. 😊
Love how the chubby girl in black is expressive yet respectful. It's okay, not everyone has to like certain kind of food. But people especially those from the mainland need to understand that india is a diverse country which comes with diversity in culture and cuisine as well
Quote of the Day: “It’s a tasting, not a festival!”
I love these cast!!!!! They’re all so beautiful🥹
Bhoot jolokia - Assam
Raja mircha - nagaland
Board exams ke beech me ye video stress bust kar gaya. Thank you BuzzFeed!!
Things only Eastern people knows or eaten once 😅 , also we Bengalis specially tribes we eat so many things that other people can't think of😂 like bat , Rat , Bull frog , stomach, intestine of most animal, different snails, ants , ant egg , dried fish and shrimps and different herbs.
Bat??? Frog??? Ants???
OMG I COULD NEVER
Thank you for displaying the rich food culture, truly appreciate it... Got to see some of the most popular food items from Nagaland
No offence but me being a Naga I'll comment something to let the viewers know something. Which is
In my own pov, when she said authentic Naga Food ..
The Pork bhujia isn't an authentic Naga food, but rather it's a mix modern twist food. Which is made and goes well with a glass of cold beer.
So instead of a modern recipe naga food which was the pork bhujia, it would have been better if Anishi (fermented yam leaf stew) was brought in, or the vegetarian food called roseb (boiled mix vegetable with mushroom and fermented fish) would be better. And not to forget the other tribes own ethnic cuisine made of sesame seeds paste, kidney bean etc..
Anyways, love the video and keep up the good work BuzzFeed. And do visit Nagaland, this year we'll be celebrating our 25th year silver Jubilee for the Hornbill Festival.
Both Aren and Vishal in one frame just feel me so good and all the dishes are so ❤
Aren was/is serving as an Airhostess right ?
We used to be friends before but haven’t talked like in 10 years now.
2:33 bro’s accent change 😂
Buzz feed never fails to entertain us with these “taste testing for the first time” videos. Keep going guys :)
It would be fun if everyone had blindfold and then tried the stuff😂
Love to see how happy Vishal is in this video :)
That axone with pork is the best ❤ but you need to know which axone to pick. Some taste is not good. Always try to get axone from Sumi tribe their way of making axone is tasty as compared to the rest. The taste varies means it varies.
With good axone you can eat more pork fat than normal curry.
Sumi's axone is good but you can't deny that eastern people also make good axone. I have tasted a really good axone given to me by one of my chang friend which I cooked myself tasted soo good.
P.s im lotha
This is such a cool series !!!! Would love to see other regional dishes from India.
Loved this episode!!
Loved it! Looking forward to you guys trying more regional cuisines. ❤
Promoting naga dishes in a platform like this.. ❤❤thank u so much❤❤❤
Wo pehele wala aap b khati ho?🤔🤔
Its my first time seeing people eat sticky rice with hands 😂
Loved loved this!!!! Will definitely try naga food.. please do show about other lesser known cuisines of India!!
This is not what naga people eat often..this is like fancy food.
What they eat often are beef , pork ,fresh fish, snails, frogs, bats , paddy field rats, wood worms, hornet and its larva , snakes ,eels, dryfish, dried eels, wild birds, chicken (very less) and......dogs.
Please don't get ofended my naga brothers/sistes. This is true and you don't need to be ashamed of it. Be proud of being naga.
You mentioned whatwe “eat often” but half of the things I haven’t even seen or heard about it. but I know for sure that pork is a must and then comes chicken, beef, and fish.
New sub ❤
May your channel reach 1M very very fast
Not everyone gets the taste of Axone with pork dish. Saw many people that would instantly feels like throwing up after smelling it. Glad that you guys loved it
Kenite is definitely not Aniket. He’s not the IFS Arm of BuzzFeed India.
As a bengali living in Tripura I would say that if you can get friendly with The Indigenous people then they are amazing and their food is actually very tasty❤
Trying all the cuisines from north east India is on my bucket list ❤
Love from Sikkim. Love love love Naga good. My bf is a Naga haha
There's always dal (yellow OR kholar which is basically the regional kidney beans or rajma), boil (seasonal veggies simply boiled with a bit of salt, maybe bamboo shoots and chilli possibly) there. And honestly with the protein, I love the veggie inclusions even more. It's very balanced and yum. Should try even further and go into tribes. Anishi and all.... YUm!
The sorpotel reference has an easter staple ❤❤❤❤

Why are you acting surprised when you are an Indian?

I have tried this outlet. Their Pork Thali is just out of the world❤
Axone (natto in japanese) is very pungent and smelly but once you get acquired to this axone i tell you its going to be irresistible.

Those two non-northeasterns, definitely didn’t had the worms and grasshoppers…😅 hats off to the edit.. but clearly visible they didn’t put the insects in their mouth

I would have gone vegetarian for the day if they had offered me to do this video
I never had naga food before, but this video makes me want to eat it so bad
I am a big fan of Buzzfeed..... Love the content... ❤
Not every cuisine has to be tasty, it’s something that the local population loves, so stop trying to convince yourself that it’s tasty.
Silk worm Chutney are the
best try it
tbh i feel lot of this naga delicacies ae actually inspired by other southeast asian nations...
Jessica is so good !
The grasshoppers are mostly collected from paddy field so indirectly eating veg 😅😅😅😅 also it's clean collected from paddy field
