  • We’re taking a look at my 1989 Kawasaki KX250 in this video. A fellow bike collector had a few other builds going in conjunction with this build and so he offered this KX250 build to me to complete. When I picked it up, the motor was fully rebuilt and the frame was restored. I installed a new seat cover through Anthony and installed the Jeff Ward style graphics kit. Other than that, I tried to stick with OEM parts as much as possible.
    I was able to find many OEM parts from Kawasaki Parts Warehouse like the handlebar grips, a lever, front brake line guide, mud guard, kickstarter, rear brake pedal, a ton of nuts and bolts and a few other bits and pieces with OEM parts. I also rebuilt the front and rear brakes with the OEM brake rebuild kit and installed new brake lines and rotors. The original foot pegs are in excellent shape so I sanded them down and repainted them.

    89 is probably my favorite year for the look of both the stock & factory Kawi's. Super clean & just a mean looking race bike.
    Thanks for sharing. 👍

      Yes I agree…the 80’s had som really cool bikes. Love the 1982-83 and 86’ and 89’s. The 80’s are definitely my favorite to ride/race and collect.

    Hey man I know this is an older video, but I’m restoring an 88 kx250 right now and I can’t find a pipe for it anywhere. I’m wondering where you bought your pro circuit pipe from.🤙🏻

    • @CharlieFerer
      @CharlieFerer  Рік тому +1

      Hi Bradley! Hit up Pro Circuit directly. They still make pipes. You may need to go on a waiting list then when they have enough orders then make a bunch to fulfill the requests. I have CR 500 pipes for 1991-2001 but none fir the KX

      @@CharlieFerer oops I stand corrected, almost everyone lol. Your bikes are choice brother, I’ve been building them myself for 40 plus years so love the old stuff. Besides, it ain’t the bike it’s the rider right, I’ve smoked plenty of newer bikes on old iron. You haven’t lived until you’ve slung a leg over a crisp KX or CR500 😂

    The KX was a slow evolution, with the exception of the mini and 125, but by the 87 the bikes really started to come into their own. I love your bikes, and your enthusiasm for them.
