Feedbac: removal is much easier if you have a telescoping steering wheel, which after 1999 was either optional or came standard with a Sport package. I wish you showed that part, but perhaps didn't think much of it as it's a nonissue for your repair. Much more challenging if one is an owner of a model without the telescoping steering wheel.

This was a 1996 vehicle. I can't remember if it had a telescoping steering wheel option. Great advise for other viewers. Thank you!

you don't lower it, just unlock the tab under your steering column and pull the wheel towards you.
