- When I started looking into why PlayStation 5 can report inaccurate hours for total play time, I also made note of my top 10 games ranked by hours played. Because let's face it, numbers are interesting. We all love knowing how much time we threw away at our favorite games. And so today I'm gonna share with you all my top 10 most played PS4 games.

God I wish they were my longest type of hours. I think i was about 600+ hours into the original Destiny for example. 😬
Currently similar in Apex Legends and Rocket League.

I was a huge gamer as a kid in the late 90's/early 2000's but then I fell off for most of the ps3/ps4 generation. I got back into gaming after a break up and needed an escape. That was at the tail end of the ps4 days in late 2019. Since then, I've logged almost 20 plats and they are all mostly single player experiences and oh my have games gotten better over the years. The stories being told in this medium is off the charts. So engaging and way better than wasting your time on social media. My top 3 are TLOU, Ghostwire Tokyo and Returnal all at about 200 hours.
I have over 4000 hours in Destiny and I regret at least 3950 of them.

I think a lot of our higher playtimes in these single player games stem from trophy hunting. I remember during the PS3 era I platinumed a lot of games simply cos I was younger, and just started working and didn't have a lot of money for games so I ended up playing each game I bought to death. Since I stopped caring about trophies around 2019 I noticed all my game times since then are much more realistic.
Bought RDR2 on release, halfway through chapter 3. 853 hours played, what can I say lol.
Currently playing cities skylines on PC once again, doing a final city before the C:S2. The updates over the years were truly good and love that each new dlc also included stuff for free, you easily sink 100+ hours in a single city if you want too do the detail work. Also mods on PC are so nice, especially custom maps and some QoL stuff improve a lot.
The Nathan drake collection still looks soo good on the ps5. Not to mention the legacy of thrives looking like a native ps5 game. Idk how naughty dog does it🔥
I just looked at mine and I think it's broken. It's telling me I put over 940 hours in FIFA 18 and I don't even remember playing that game for long
Death stranding is amazing. So curious to learn more about the sequel and what direction they will take it.

@@HipRapBlack7 I know a lot of people dismiss it as a boring delivery/walking simulator. But there is just so much more to it. Planing your route, managing your cargo, managing and upgrading your tools and equipment, fighting enemies, avoiding enemies, rebuilding the world and unfolding the bonkers plot. Just to name a few things. It's truly something special and unique imo. It's basically a science fiction hiking simulator (only until you develop vehicles and roads) combined with a post-apocalyptic and modern version of the classic game called Paperboy. It's certainly not for anyone but I think it's one of those games you either hate or love. I personally couldn't put it down.
@@Embrace_the_darkness all that and it still didn't feel like a game - it felt like a large tech demo with no soul. Artificially injecting "soul" with actors and a soundtrack doesn't count because the game play, game systems, literally everything about that game is soulless and trite.
Just checked mine, Metal Gear Solid V wit h 359 hours played, followed by Elden Ring and Dark souls 3 and Bloodborne. 200ish in each. 0.o And Death Standing clocking in at 4th
11:54 I feel this so much. I recently platinum'd Resogun, but the overall % is sitting at 64% because the DLC trophies are borderline impossible. I'm fairly sure some are actually unobtainable in 2023 due to serves being shut down. Oof.

The thing that was broken were the servers for editing and liking a ship, and they were fixed :) So everything is obtainable now.

I remember buying GTA V on ps4 back when it launched and upgrading from the PS3 version, combined i probably have about 200 days played in total in between both versions

@@WilliamClayards I got 4455, it's my most played game out of the 1644 i own on Steam. Quite the time sink, but then again, that's over 8 years since it was released.

I have 202 hours for my Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection, got all the trophies. Most of that time was definitely spent going thru each game on brutal mode like you said, it took me quite a few tries in some parts of the game.
Most impressive, I’ve always wanted to go back and complete the first game on Brutal and try to get the platinum, it’d be pretty awesome to earn the very first platinum trophy ever.
Any advice? Are there any superior strategies?
This is a very interesting topic, I never really thought about what my most played games were on the PS4 gen. But I checked and I'm both surprised and not surprised that my top played game was FFXV. Played it on launch, played all the DLC's, played the multiplayer mode, and replayed all of it with the Royal edition. So yeah, I clocked in some hours.

Most played PS4 games for me are Final Fantasy 7 Remake at 400+ hours and Persona 5 Royal at 304 hours.

I think my top played, are Monster Hunter World: Iceborne at around 1200 hrs and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak at around 800, might have a problem :')
@MysticRyan, I feel the Bloodborne issue will be times you've left the game open at the main menu, without loading your save. Might not seem like much, but over time that adds up a ton.

Think the most I have ever put into a a game is 200 hours for Persona 5 Royal during the pandemic, these days I usually clock up under 100 hours on most other games. XB3 on switch being the exception. I only play SP though so I can imagine it would be a lot more if I did play MP.
Most time I ever spent on a non-MMO was over 300 hours in Trails of Cold Steel 4. It's a long game plus I got addicted to the Puyo Puyo style mini game. And considering each game in that series is at least 80 hours long, I spent well north of 600 hours on the series

I'm actually surprised Elden Ring and Bloodborne is not on my top 5 because I remember playing them a lot. I guess building settlements, going on stealth missions and driving around Los Santos takes up more time lol.
Ryan I really enjoyed this video! Come November it will mark my first year of ownership for my PS5 and many of the titles of which are PS4 games that I've been playing. I'm really glad that the PS5 allows you to play PS4 games and almost in a way it mirrors the PS2 that allowed you to play the PS1 games. I never owned a PS3 but I'm real glad there is some great PS3 games that were remastered like Uncharted to play on the PS5. I don't know if Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order counts since I purchased it from the PlayStation store because it also had the PS5 version option but that's what I've been focused on playing other then some other PS4 games that I also own both physical copies of and digitally. I just recently bought Bloodborne from Best Buy online and so it's interesting to learn how many hours you put into that game. I try to choose my games wisely and commit once I start playing a game because I do like to get them played but sometimes if a game ends up being a pain to fully complete well I realize that you don't want to waste too much time playing that game and move on to the next one. I also enjoy collecting the trophies and would like to get them all before playing another game but you can always go back to some games to obtain all them and complete 100% after you spent time getting some other games played.
I found a used ps4 disc of Jedi Fallen Oder in a bargain bin for $15 Canadian . It got the free ps5 upgrade which was a bonus .
To digital download the same game is $58 from PS store .
The disc vs digital question sure was answered .

If I had to guess the games I've put most time into during the PS4/XB1 gen it'd probably be something like: Skyrim, Fallout 4, Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen, Dark Souls 3, State of Decay 2. The funny thing is looking at the 360/PS3 gen, Skyrim and DD would show up on that list as well.
I know that PSN name change affects some stuff on bloodborne like if you bought the dlc before name change it disappears afterwards? Something like that... maybe it might have double your hours played for whatever reason?

My top 3 are Destiny (2694 hours), Destiny 2 (2033 hours), and AC Odyssey (109 hours). I'm currently at 84 hours with FF16, on FF mode and am still dealing with Benedicta, and I didn't do much side questing on my first play through. So who knows long this'll take me.
Hey Ryan just saying that Held Every Weapon and Accessory trophy took me longer than beating the game and all the other trophies combined probably lol, don’t forget you have to upgrade most of them to there final tier with the monster components

Quick question: im new in the souls world.. would you recommend me to start with bloodborne or elden ring?
Bloodborne is much more streamlined game, no open world, limited amount of weapons, but each level and boss is a super unique and challenging experience. Elden Ring is an open-world so there's a lot more variety in what you will see or do, but there's a lot of similar bosses and dungeons. For a beginner, I would probably recommend Elden Ring over BB (even though BB is my favorite game ever) just because you can kinda tailor-make the difficulty to your liking much more than BB.
Similar to what the other person said I’d start with Bloodborne since it’s a much more streamlined and shorter experience.
If I was gonna give you my completely unsolicited opinion though I’d say to start with Dark Souls 1 and then play the trilogy in order. Maybe even start with Demon’s Souls if you’ve got a PS5 or PS3 for the original. That way you can see how the systems and mechanics progressed and got better with each game. The older games are gonna feel super slow and clunky and more limited if you go back to them after playing something like Elden Ring or Sekiro. They’re still fantastic in their own right, just saying your experience with them might feel subpar if you go in accustomed to how the newer games play. But I understand not everyone would be down for that kinda commitment right out of the gate.
Off the top i know i clocked in crazy hours for Streets of Rage 4, Overwatch, and Street Fighter V.
I feel like it’s still a lot of time that you’ve invested! I personally never have been able to spend more than 150 hrs of a singleplayer game. My highest count is from fortnite at 500 hrs, but after I decided to stop playing around 2018. Singleplayer highest is red dead 2 at 150

I'm on Xbox/PC but still love watching your videos and I have over 2000 hours in GTA 5/Online, over 250 in Cyberpunk and most likely over 3000 in Minecraft.. idk exactly how many in Minecraft because I played it on PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC so I can't really see how many hours I have in total

How I always assumed some save files worked and I know this is more apparent on older consoles, but I believe games only count the playtime from save to save. So if you had a game over and it reloads, even from an auto save. The in game timer resets but not the console up time timer if it has one, has not reset. That's how I assumed it worked anyway. Because I to also get a little annoyed about my save files not reflecting how much time I have put in to lol.
I REALLYYY wish they would remove/alter online multi-player trophies for games when they take diwn the functionality so that you could still platinum older titles 😢

I used ps3 right up until 2017. I basically had no home console until around 2018 when I got my ps4 and it was only 2 years later when I replaced it with a PC. Basically my psn has barely any hours clocked on it with the sims at around 500 hours, minecraft at 340, cities skylines with 100 and fortnite with around 50. The hours drop off a cliff after fortnite

Is there anyway to check playtime data online or in the app? I don’t own a PS5 and would like to check my playtime in games from the PS4 generation since it was the main console I played on for a few years
Fair amounts. I think for me it's Ratchet games, Spyro trilogy, maybe Roller Coaster Tycoon 1&2 PC, Sims 1&2 PC, GT 2-4, Minecraft and Disagea series, Conception Plus (multiple choices, dungeons, dialogue) or Valkyria Chronicles 4 (the few RPGs I actually play). Visual Novels like Date A Live trilogy platinum trophy a lot of hours. Can't say as much for Raging Loop, Stein's Gate or others but still.
I don't play many building games but I enjoy them of RCT & Theme Hospital.
But racing and visual Novels besides favourites and SRPGs are where my hundreds to higher double digit hours are and Minecraft because just playing it for 10 years 100s of different ways over the years to get 1000+.
For common games it's the Ratchet trilogy/Deadlocked (100%ing them multiple times, can't say Scaler I have replayed it multiple times with no upgrade challenges or 100% but not as much as others),
Spyro games just replays for skill points, 100% or casual.
Gran Turismo games in general specifically 2 or 3&4 the most replays in the series, 5&6 not as much whether multiple attempts sometimes corrupted save files, rebuying GT5, other times it's challenges for a few hours.that UA-camrs do.
Minecraft on PC I've played since 2012-2022 so easily vanilla, modded 1000+ hours. On console on 360/One/Vita not much I think a few hundred maybe.
I guess Disagea games around 60 hours or so I remember seeing on the in-game counters. Disagea 1, D2, 4, 5 and 6 I have gotten the furtherest in whether last region or furtherest point. 2&3 I only started somewhat and 5 probably half way through I guess.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 it was 70+ or so because I kept getting stuck at a stealth bit and the parachute bomb mission, now on the last few with the icebergs/submarine turrets and I gave up.
Still early hours on 2 on PSP right now.
I can't think of many games I replay a lot. Either favourites, things I can change with them like modding or challenges. I buy niche games but don't for that long only particular ones I know inside and out or first time play like with the JRPGs.
I didn't get further than Chapter 9 (end of disc 2 on 360) in FF13 due to the boss issues of level being under/impossible to survive and grinding needed I got there and have to survive enemy encounters/relearn the game somewhat. Was one of my first JRPGS so not surprised.
Apparently I have nearly 1200 hours in Destiny, which I do not recall playing for anything like that amount of time given I pretty much only used one character and didn’t even touch a lot of the endgame content, must have been a lot of time idling in menus
My most played game is Deathloop
I absolutely loved that game. I played it for 150 hrs
My second most played is knockout city it was a great experience, and I put about 120 to 130 hrs into it.

What happened with Cities Skylines happened for me with Kingdom Hearts III. I didn't think having a PAL version of the game would be a big deal until I went to buy the Re-Mind DLC from the US PSN store and it didn't show up in the game--regional differences between the game and DLC. Ended up making a PAL PSN account and buying the DLC on the PAL store so that I could still keep everything. Frustrating but ended up working out in the end.

Nioh became my most played game of all time, literally spent 302 hours over that game and another 227 hours on Nioh 2.

Idk my top 10 but I’ve spent TONS of time in GTA V. It’s one of my favourite games of all time (top 3 for sure). I have played 4 copies of it (XBOX 360, PS3, PS4 and PS5 and I have it on PC but never really played it there). On my PS4 copy alone I have 2500 hours then about 170 on PS3 and another 250 on XB360 and another 230 on PS5 copy. After all this time I still play the game regularly. The funny part is most of this time (I’d say about 60%) was spent in story mode. The story mode is just so fun to make your own fun in that I’ve spent that long in it and I’ve replayed the main story 8 times (2 times I got 100% and one time I got platinum). I love the online and single player so much and even when the servers shut down someday I’ll still be playing GTA V. I can wait for GTA VI

My top 3 is Currently:
1.CoD Black Ops 3 - 905 hours(I havent even played the campaign for that game so no Platinum yet. I have all multiplayer and zombies trophies including DLC.)
2.CoD Black Ops 4 - 794 hours currently 90/104 trophies obtained.
3.GTA 5 PS4 version 693 hours. Have the Platinum trophy and most DLC trophies too.
As for PS3, I had over 40 days of playtime on CoD MW3's multiplayer mode, so when you add the campaign and spec ops playtime required to get the Platinum and all DLC trophies, probably close to(or over) 50 days played.
I'm about yo begin Death Stranding so I hope yo reach a 100 hours there. Only time will tell. Good video Ryan.

I think you could've went back to FF13 if you had your save. It took me forever to beat that game because I kept taking breaks that were years long lol
One of my top played games is Clicker Hero because it’s an idle game I was trying to get all the trophies. I used to be a huge fan of those kinds of games (cookie clicker, adventure capitalist, etc) and it says I have over 600 hours in it. Still don’t have all the trophies, I gave up. I don’t even know if there was a platinum.
Liked spending time on Horizon zero dawn, jedi fallen order ps5 version, hollow knight, blasphemous, salt and sanctuary, doom, haven't started playing most of top games yet, played gunfight mode in cod modern warfare 2019 the most in past 3 years

With your last video on this and this list I would still call into question how accurate this list is.
For instance I have Assassins Creed Valhalla for PS5 on the list twice. Both have the same amount of tophies but one says I played for 115hrs the other says 89hrs. I never played it on PS4 so it's not that causing confusion.
Ghost recon breakpoint & Wildlands are also both on there twice with very different time played.
And apparently I managed to platinum AC Origins in 6hrs, which is impossible.
My most played game is Gran Turismo Sport at 1761 hours, and way down the list I apparently also played it for only 4 hours.
I just traded a extra foam surfboard i had for a ps4 and account, loaded with games! Not just ps plus games like a tonnnn of games. Cant wait started with spiderman as ive been dying to play it!

Since I've had the PS5 for over 2 years now, my #1 game in hours is Horizon FW at 116 hours, followed by Zero Dawn at about 100. After that it drops to Spider-Man at 47, then Borderlands 3 at 39, Gotham Knights at 35... and the rest of my games under 30, with most averaging around 15 or so. I like to dip my hands in many different games, and I still have alot unfinished.
Pretty similar to my steam library hours except I have an extra 0 at the end of each game.

if you only need level 50 for the platinum just do the level glitch with black book spell you can get it in like 5 mins then
I played WoW so much up until the pandas when I'd do /played my time would be in years and it was like that on 3 of my alts too.
Cities skylines is amazing. Prefer it on PC but also looking forward to the second game that fixes a lot of issues.

I played so much getting filling out every pass and getting free costumes or characters
2. Lego Starwars the skywalker saga (210+ Hours)
I was never expecting this...The platinum just took me that long
3. NEO: The world ends with you (105+ Hours)
If you know me this is no surprise, one of my favorite games of all time
4. Soulcalibur 6 (90+ Hours)
Played the single player mode three times for the platinum and played a fair bit of ranked during the pandemic
5.Kingdom Hearts 3 (90+ Hours)
No where near my favorite in the series but I did play the game twice with all the remind content
I put 950+ hours into fortnite on ps4 before moving over to pc for that game and probably putting in another 300+hours into it
