    I started pouring concrete in 1999 when I used to live in statesville North Carolina. My first day on the job we worked in Mooresville NC Pouring a large pad for a building where they were going to work on NASCAR trucks. There was about 6 different concrete crews helping that day and it was a 10 bay garage and when 10 concrete trucks came through each bay door and started pouring the concrete my boss handed me a concrete rake and told me to just start leveling it out. I thought OH lord what have I gotten myself into lol but after a year working with them I was doing everything including doing my own jobs. My boss used to grade his pads and driveways with a box blade on an old ford farm tractor. But we had gotten a basement to pour and his tractor was to wide to get through the door. So he said we needed a skid steer but he had never operated one before. But fortunately for him I had a little experience with a skid steer so he rented one and after I graded the basement with it he decided to just buy one. He then left us on a job and said that he found a used Bobcat in the paper so he was going to go look at it. He came back about 4 hours later with a brand new New Holland L668 skid steer. He said Andy go get that off the trailer. I said I thought you were getting a used Bobcat? He said I looked at it but it was a piece of junk so I just bought a new one. Lol I said I am making you too much money lol he laughed. There’s good money in concrete unless you’re the guy getting paid by the hour. But if you’re the guy bidding the jobs and pricing them by the square foot or Yard plus additional fees for control joints you can make good money. After i moved back to West Virginia I started doing my own jobs and I did pretty well but there’s not really a lot of work up here in my area not like down south near Charlotte. There was a lot of growth in that area. You did really good on grading the pad out how many yards of concrete did it take to pour that?

    • @tristardiggin

In the 1930s Baptist missionary made his way into south Florida and introduced Jesus to our tribe and my great grand parents, grandparents and my mom got saved. I was eight in 1967 when I got saved. Now the mini 3 pro doesn’t have side sensors either it’s got sensors on the front and back and underneath. So be extra careful because it will break easier than the mini 2 if you take the screws out of the back arm of the mini 2 you should be able to pop it back into place. Most generally they just pop out of socket. And the gimbal probably has some dirt or grit in the gimbal motors so you can try taking a q-tip with a little rubbing alcohol and wipe around the joints also you can use air duster to blow around the joints in the gimbal. Hopefully that will help and you get lucky enough that you didn’t damage anything permanently. I would recommend getting DJI care refresh. They have great customer support services and will repair or replace your drone. Great video by the way. Always enjoy watching God bless.

    What's the theory with the rock? And why no moisture barrier? Nobody does rock in my area, I have seen it on videos though. Had one guy recommend putting a layer of sand under the concrete, which is what my dad chose to do and pretty much everyone else just pours directly on the clay with a moisture barrier, which is what I did on mine. I formed mine myself, put down a moisture barrier and put in rebar on 18" grid pattern and dug a 2ft deep footer around the perimeter to keep the possibility of water from washing under and also strengthen the edge so it wouldn't break driving a loaded semi on it because I didn't do an approach ramp on mine. Seems everyone has a little different approach when it comes to concrete...

    • @tristardiggin
      @tristardiggin  Рік тому +1

      Not 100% sure why we use rock. It is common to do it here. I suppose maybe the clay could expands and contracts where compacted stone wouldn't. 🤔 That's just a guess though. Ive never seen concrete put directly on clay, but Im sure it happens. Generally it's 4" of 57s or crusher run. Don't see vapor barrier much unless it's in a crawl space or under a mobile home. To be honest I didn't even think about putting plastic down and I have a big roll of it in the barn. It is definitely different methods depending on where you are.
      We don't see a lot of perimeter footers for pads here unless it's a house or there will be a block stem wall.

    • @LifeWithChase
      @LifeWithChase Рік тому +1

      @@tristardiggin you would think that the clay would push against the compacted stone and the stone would push against the concrete resulting in the same thing but IDK LoL. They tell me without the moisture barrier that the concrete will sweat during certain times of the year...

    • @tristardiggin
      @tristardiggin  Рік тому

      Well, my theory on expanding and contracting was just that, a guess. 😁 Basically helps with drainage and a water barrier.
      Here is what Google told me, makes sense.
      "What happens if no gravel under concrete?
      Because concrete is a very porous material, it will absorb any moisture that it contacts. This can cause pooling. Without crushed stone, pooling water will settle under it and erode your slab. Adding a layer of crushed stone will add proper drainage, as well as create a barrier between your slab and the ground"

    • @LifeWithChase
      @LifeWithChase Рік тому

      Not sure on the Googles result. if you have water pooling under your concrete you probably have other issues to start with 😂 I've never seen them put rock under an interstate hwy either. Usually soil cement to firm up the ground. Maybe it helps in an area with seismic activity, or freeze thaw cycles to insulate the concrete from the ground, I guess that's similar to what you said 😂 I know up north they have a totally different way of doing things than in the south due to the climate difference, and you're kinda in the middle 😂

    • @Rmz250ryder
      @Rmz250ryder Рік тому +2

      If you have freezing and thawing depending on where you live you use stone. Stone doesnt expand like dirt does when it gets wet. If you dont live somewhere that has those issues like cali you could just pour on clay but if you have a bad sub base your gonna dig down and put stone in to have a solid base. Thats just my 2cents living in pa.

    I was a cement finisher back in the 70's, like anything the finished product is subject to the preparation, you put in the work to have a nice slab but I do wonder why a perimeter footer was omitted but otherwise nicely done.
    By the way Sam, while I myself am an Atheist I do respect those that follow their chosen faith, like anything that is a personal choice, it is of course up to the individual (at least it should be), I want to commend you and Ferrell for presenting your faith without being insulting to those of us that think differently.

      Thank you Peter I appreciate you watching and supporting the channel. A slab on grade is pretty common around here because there isn’t any structural weight on the slab. Structural weight is being carried by the poles. I appreciate what you said about Ferrrell and I sharing our faith. It is definitely a personal choice whether we believe in Christ or not. But, I do hope and have prayed this morning that you could come to know the hope that I have through Christ!
