I noticed that it is always Sweden who introduces some of the biggest changes when it comes to the Stage Ready or the Contest it self: 2013: - First time that a “Stage Ready Sound” is used (2011 had the heartbeat, but I think that it’s since 2013 that this announcement effect with one big ton has been introduced). After 2013 every country had their “Stage Ready Sound” - The public on the floor does not sit - The postcards deals about the contestants, and not only about the host country or another thing 2016: - The name of the country, of the song and the artist is written in big and in the middle, and not only more on the bottom of the screen. - The new voting system
This happens because many producers of the contest come from Sweden, so it is very natural to leave all the big changes in the contest when Sweden hosts it to make their country be pioneering in it.
Netherlands: We created a minimalist yet expressive design using 2D graphics. During the artist's presentation, we built a house frame to hold their memories, and at the end, a beam of light will reflect this frame and shoot straight onto the stage. We hope Eurovision design gets better every year! Italy: Got it! We'll film the artist on a green screen and overlay it on drone footage flying over Italy. Lol. For the show opening, we'll draw light from spotlights instead of using real ones, and forget smooth dimming, so everyone knows the light is fake.
Wait. a damn minute did 2006 also pioneer stage ready lighting? ON top of first experimental HD broadcast, lightwall and first moving LED stage? I see you Fotini Yannoulatou from ERT, head of delegation duiring Greece's best years in the contest and producer of 2006! This is what happens when people who love Eurovision are put in charge!
Wait till you find out ERT slapped in regards to broadcasting and the technical/graphical side of presenting in the 2000s. 2 years after the contest, they would create what are objectively consider in Greece to be the best idents in its national television history.
Kinda fun to see the development over the years. My favorites are probably 2014, 2019 and 2024 - with 2024 taking the crown. The ‘stage ready’ sound along with the lights are just great!
i don’t think it’s the worst one of all times but it definitely had another concept and would’ve made sense to use with the kinetic sun, idk why’d they just throw the idea out the window like that
