    I went to Pattaya and stayed 42 days, during this time i've writen down Every expense so now i am comparing what you are saying to my statistics. We spend the same amount for food. my accomodation was 11300 for a month (electricity and water included). boom booms took 48% of my total budget spent while in pattaya (which does not include plane ticket i bought before coming, of course) averaging at 33200 baht per month spent on boom boom :)

  • @jnsa9454
    @jnsa9454 28 днів тому

    Getting a sense of these monthly expenses very helpful. Yes to affordability and high quality of life in that CM vibe. And $1500 (max) --- that's completely doable with some planning.

    My budget last month in the south of Thailand was $400. $70 for electricity to run the AC 20 hours a day, No rent, $12 for internet, 60 cents for my flip phone, $2 for water, $80 fuel for car. $10 for car insurance. That's $175 without food. I eat out a lot and buy some foods for relatives. If I didn't eat restaurant food, it would be easy for me to live on $300 a month. I live on a paved road in rural Mai Seab/ Koh Khan. 1 mile to 7-11 and the freeway. 5 miles to KFC or hospital. 20 miles to Phattalung. My house is paid for.

      i lived in thailand for 5yrs. traveled there for about 14yrs. lived in pattaya, bangkok and hua hin.
      you can see litterly 100 videos like this of "how much it cost" OR "live in thailand for $500 a month". most, though not all are simply clickbait.
      like a sales job. hit you with a low number. get your attention (you click or subscribe) and that person gets roalyty from YT. that simple.
      most are fair at best, some are a scam some (few) are good.
      i will say with my experience that 90% of all westerners (canada, US and europe) especially IF youa re 50 or older. YOU will not live on under $1000 a month unless the thai baht drops to like 55 to $1. you will not. you will get sick of the local food...as good as it is.
      AC? that can vary. $60-$80 for AC. you really think you will get by at 60yoa with a ceiling fan after living in luxury in the US? no you will not.
      IF you had to live on $1000 in thailand outside of bangkok. yes, can be done. YOU will get tired of it in say 6 months and either go way over your budget OR go home.
      oh-medical insurance. IF you get a O visa you have to have international medical insurance. think you will go to a thai government hosptial and they foot the bill IF you say like in the US. "i have no money"? nope. that can vary greatly. on a vague average: $250 a month. so there is 25% of this $1000 a month BS for a budget.
      nobody mentions a spouse, girlfriend, boyfriend or "other" do they in this budget? what you are going to sit and be by youself? for 95% of thai's that means paying food, travel and everthing. that is maybe $400+ per month. she will want to go shopping, ect. $ for her family in Issan.
      folks many sites are just selling you fantasy BS for their click bait and check from YT. IF either they knew the truth OR wanted to tell you the truth their actuary numbers would go down and so would their YT numbers, ratings and analytics.
      the best (honest) way would be: live in Thailand for 50% less than the US.
      that is a fair, honest statement hence most folks are NOT living on $1500-$2000 a month in the US.

    Thanks for the video. Last year, I lived in the Jomtien area for 6 months and my monthly budget was $3K and that's with companionship with a regular Thai lady for 3x a week without buying any LDs and barfines. I did not eat any western food due way more expensive and been eating Thai food in the market. In my early 50's now, I was planning to retire but I changed my mind in the very last second and back to work again in CA, started from scratch. Will do this again, next year.
