    I'm watching this in 2020 and the tutorial is clear and easy to follow. Your improvements at filming and editing are noticeable, so I hope you know that this is a compliment on your commitment to your channel, and to helping me become a better sewer (sewist? seamstress? whatever Lol) Thank you!

      Thank you so much 😊. In 2017 I didn’t have a tripod and getting the camera at the right angle was super hard with books and other props. I’m amazed I did it anyway. The editing has come a long way, I agree. My strength is the sewing lol.

    Thank you so much, it was really helpful. When I read about lining a dress I couldn't make any sense of it - it was a real lightbulb moment to see it actually being done. Thank you again. I was wondering however how it works if the dress has a centre back zip? Would you consider doing a quick tutorial on that? Kind regards.

    Do you always make a top, dress, bodice without a zipper? In one of your vlogs I think you mentioned this. How much ease do you need at the waist in order to put on your garment? Your garments always flow so nicely without the zipper which adds to a stiffness in the seam.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  4 роки тому +1

      I can wiggle in and “squash my bust” to fit through the waist. I like about 2-3” of ease at the waist. I’m used to it and even do this when I put a zipper in 😄. I can sew them no problem but if I don’t need them “need them”, I don’t do them :)

      It is such a great idea. I think zippers in dresses were when the dresses were very structured and very slim fitting. Even the cottons were heavier and most styles were gathered skirts or a slim pencil skirt. I grew up with zippers or lots of buttons, usually down the back. I am going to try this, especially with the more flowy fabrics. Thank you.

    Karina, thank you for a well explained tutorial on lining the bodice. Would it be possible to do a tutorial on lining trousers, or half lining, taking it past the knees? I love wearing wool trousers (I live in Northern Ireland and it gets pretty cold here), but no matter how good the quality of the wool I itch like mad as I've very sensitive skin. I know some people do a trouser petticoat, but being 4'10" wide trousers do not suit me.....

    Hi Karina, great tutorial, how do I add sleeves to a lined bodice, the sleeves will not be lined, nut I would like to add sleeves and enclose the raw edges, thank you.

    Thank you so much. I have learned a lot from your videos. Would you do a tutorial on lining a skirt? Also what type of fabrics do you use for the lining? I struggle with getting too hot from polyesters. Thank you again. Watching from Chicago!!!

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  7 років тому +2

      Michele Mohamed is the weather better in Chicago? I like using normal satin for lining, it's not so hot as the poly but I do use it when I can't find the right satin. I try to find the thinnest poly. I've also been know to line with cotton sheets! And silk.

    Thanks for posting! I have a question -- when do you do the French seams on the sides of lining fabric and fashion fabric? Before sewing from inner-hem to outer-hem? Thanks!

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  4 роки тому +1

      French seams on a lined garment is not necessary and will be bulky. I wouldn’t do it. I’d only do it on a single layer garment made with light weight fabrics
