Played this a while back and I lost sleep trying to untangle the time paradoxes.

The one thing I don't really get is why does the player's death at the end, ends the cycle? The source of the conflict arises from the divergence in timelines when some stay as Booker and some are reborn into Comstock. The player is already past this point so why would killing them retroactively affect past Booker?
