Nice to see a review from someone who is interested in nice clean tones instead of all the overdriven and distorted stuff. I've been struggling to get those sort of tones from my ME-90 so, the review has really helped. The man can play as well! Excellent stuff John.
@@whatsjustinto be fair, the presets on all of these types of units are always very bland as they're designed to only be a building block to get you started and when it comes to dialling in our own tones, believe it or not but not everybody has the experience and the ear training to be confident with it yet. Go easy on them. There's no way that the very first time you ever plugged into an amp, you dialled in an exact replica of Gilmour's tone.

I really appreciate shows like this where you will show the pedal setup. I have had the Positive Grid "library" for a while, but I learn MUCH more from watching you than dinking around myself.
I just stumbled on a cool trick. I ran mine through a Red Box Classic I had lying around, XLR out to my FRFR. It’s a free high/low pass filter. For live work, I think it just became what I’m using.
Yeah, some really convincing lovely stuff. Not to mention your beautiful playing style when you got in the groove. Not a fan of those tones which are really quite harsh some times between 4 to 10K (just being general there, clearly it's more complex than that), but I did love some of those beautiful tonal expressions. What a great FX unit for the price, and putting the time in , way beyond. Sometimes we play a note a little harshly as well (I include myself) and it doesn't necessarily work for the tone created. So it's not a harsh critique but rather one of respect. I know I am guilty of making worse decisions. Also it can be the effect of theUA-cam Algorithms and and compression. Just trying to mitigate my plausibly wrong interpretation..Damn, I haven't written something this long since I left school... and I was probably expelled for it!🤩

Very good demo of the unit and tones you have put together. Quick question can this be used with humbuckers that allow you to coil tap say like on a PRS and will you ever modify or make some of these presets for humbucking guitars.

Hello i’m serching for exactly the way to create pro tones to save in my preset! Like you I don’t like factory presets. In this video, have you connect me90 in a amp or in a Pc/pa?
hi, enjoyed the video massively. The tones don't sound quite the same on my device, going out to a Bose S1 or a Blackstar Studio 20 return. Apart from the magic fingers you have, is there anything else in Output Select, Line/Amp switch or elsewhere you can advise/share? I will be trial/erroring and googling in the meantime.
An update: the unit now sounds awesome, completely different! I watched a video by Pedal Science, and went through some steps to check everything. I went through output select, version checks etc. and ended up back where I started on Combo. I enjoyed the video. I've been using the ME-80 with satisfaction for 7 years, but I haven't always had satisfactory results with PA connections. Is the sound source of the video a sound with separate IR or calibration?
Hello Cordy, I really like the video. would recommend this for the worship rig. I do play acoustic live stage. Does the Me 90 have any acoustic presets? I'm just searching for one that dose it all and sounds good enough
The Boss ME-80 has a acoustic preamp setting but the ME-90 doesn’t. The closest setting for amp models is Natural. There is an acoustic simulator but that’s mostly for plugging in an electric guitar to approximate the sound of an acoustic.
Both are great. Depends on what kind of music you’re going to be playing. I’d be happy with either but you do get more options with the line 6. You get a simpler interface with the boss. But honestly the line 6 usability and interface is really easy as well so.
TBH I'm not particularly impressed with this unit. I can definitely hear the "digitalness" of it. Hard to describe, but it's like the tone has less space and considerably reduced resolution in the higher frequencies.
That's what every pro. guitarist I've spoken to, almost, says about ANY digital modeling amp or processor, etc. There just doesn't seem to be much substitute for actual older analog gear, better solid state, and/or real actual high quality guitar pedals.
