Hey Mr Boscoe..i really respect the fact your first thing you thought of when you were trying to describe what you see as success is that peoples families will be ok for the rest of their lives

just coming back to this.. i think this is one of THE best and most useful Sports Psychology interviews I've ever heard
if you want to interview someone about mistakes to avoid in life and pursuit of goals I'd be really glad to help people avoid those mistakes i made
    i could have been a contender! :)
still trying so thanks so much to both of you for this priceless advice

He gave the Boro players enough belief to win their first ever major cup final and then to get to a UEFA Cup Final,
    Bill,
Alzheimer's wouldn't be able to wipe the memories you helped create,
From all the Boro faithful the world over

Thank you for sharing this - very interesting. If I may make one point, the idea that we have a "potential" ("Maximise our Potential") seems to have serious issues. Do we draw from a finite well that defines whether we're capable of making it or not? Are we somehow genetically limited to a preset threshold? Modern neuroscience tells us otherwise. No doubt in sports there are physical limitations but even those can be overcome - short basketballers etc. Anyway - just my 2 cents worth. Cheers and thanks - Dave

Thanks for the message - you raise an interesting point. I personally believe that we do have a preset threshold in both our physical and mental capabilities. BUT most of us operate well below those thresholds and can always find a way to get closer to them, as well as discovering ways to work around them. Just my opinion!

Developmental psychologist. Then specialising in sports psychology later in his career. I would assume. Psychologists correct me if I’m wrong.

dude, he has a long career of coaching top sports people.. he thought of a lot of what he teaches through actually thinking..i think you're looking at this skew wif.. he's not a "psychologist" he DOES sports psychology coaching.. you know, maybe listen to what he says to get the idea of what he does and who he's coached
