- Take a look back at the last hundred years of diamonds, from the 1910s Hope Diamond and the Art Deco geometric shapes of the 1920s, to Marilyn Monroe's performance of "Diamonds Are Girl's Best Friend" in the 1950s and the 1980s popularization of the tennis bracelet by Chris Evert.

When I first saw that blue diamond I thought to myself, “this has the be Rose’s”
omg yes
@Toast And when I saw it, my eyes started to water
Ok but real talk here they are so beautiful
@pasta la vista Yeah of course, I also find it strangely calming to look at
YEESSSSSS
Glamour, being a company that’s been around during most of these decades, why can’t they just look at their old magazines for actual reference for once
Ikr
It's just an add for those accessories.
Thank you! My thoughts exactly!
I totally agree
Right? Quick and easy research right there.
Next up: 3million years of human fashion
Lmao
We would be dead in 3 million years
First up : Adam and Eve style
Lmao😂
Lol
Just putting it out there that "art deco" wasnt a term until the 1960s at the earliest. And they still got the 1920s hair wrong as well as the monroe outfit being simply garish and the 1960s had bare shoulders for a formal dress which is unheard of in that time
What is with this channel and THAT hairstyle for 1920s?
IT’S UGLY AND WRONG.
STOP.
Just one thing; considering the 1960s were the era of the miniskirt and shoulders have been left bare for formal attire for centuries, shoulders in the 60s wouldn’t get anyone batting an eye.
Yeah, when I saw the art deco thing to I laugh to myself. I took interior design for a few years and I was like wait.... What? LMAO
@@VicvicW it looks like an afro. Popular hairstyles in the 1920s was very short hair. Curled up. Or out straight with bangs. Sometimes they had hair up to there shoulders.
@@marysebassil well they never said that it wasn't popular, they just said that the term "art deco" was more modern
Is it my screen? Or are all of them poor quality fakes? Or maybe someone has no idea how to properly film a diamond or how to make fakes look good? 🤔
Some of those even have fingerprints on them...
They all fake for the most part.
You'd think they'd at least rent. @@mzmiau1421
My sentiments exactly.
Uhmm so how to make fakes look good exactly?
That first one is clearly just a Heart of the Ocean knockoff as the Hope Diamond is not in the shape of a heart.
And it's not blue either lol
Аносчка Катарина Хана Малон it’s literally known for its rare blue colour.
@@knogne5073 I thought the hope diamond was black, or is it dark blue? My mistake
Аносчка Катарина Хана Малон it is blue, just a very dark shade of blue
Do we know who did the research/wrote the copy for this video? You’d think Glamour would know the history of one of the world’a famous diamonds.....
Tooth diamonds?😬
Drilling to implant them?
No thanks, dentist are already scary.
I knew people who had them on. But they were glued on and were able to be removed without tooth damage. I never liked the look tho
Imagine swallowing one, and then you have this cavity that will decay and need to be filled
Right, No thanks!
Just stick em on with tooth pellets
*Karolina Żebrowska has entered the chat*
who is she?
@@mufasaiii2455 Check her channel out, she is really funny and in some of her videos she points out everything wrong on these "100 years of...." videos. I recommend u watching her video "Everything wrong with those 100 years of...videos"
She is a historian, a wonderful and professional online historian
Anyone else bothered by the fingerprints on the blue heart?
Omg. Can't unsee it now
Yes.
Yas
The tooth licking was grossing me out!! Anyone else? Ugh
YES! So grim.
IKR? So cringey! I was a teen back then and NOBODY had that done!
potatoegirl31 same!! 90s teen here too!!!
singergrrl77 💎I don’t remember that trend at all. I also can’t see any ethical Dentist doing something like that. I remember grills but they just fit over the teeth.🦷
Yes... I fastforwarded like 20 seconds to skip it and it was still going on lmao
1990's : Tooth Diamonds were pretty popular
Glamour: They're making a comeback today
Me: sorry glamour but... I DON'T THINK PEOPLE ARE GONNA DRILL A HOLE IN THEIR TOOTH FOR A DIAMOND
If only you knew
Lil uzi vert with his diamond in is forehead*
But... they did. And humanity remains stupid
I grew up in the 90s- I've never heard of anyone doing this. Let alone it being a popular fashion... 🤔 the only time I've seen ppl wear diamonds in their teeth were the gold grills that rappers wore.
I was a teen in the 90s and I don't really remember people wearing diamonds in/on their teeth?
Only rich people do that
Yea thats kind if dumb lol
I meant only rich people wore diamonds
I don't remember that either, and that looks pretty dumb. It would damage your teeth, and possibly be uncomfortable.
Sounds like something a 90s rapper would have, tbh
*Jeffree Star has entered the chat*
Why? I didn't understand
You roam around the UA-cam Posting Excellent Comments and Fetching Numerous likes..😅😎
cringe
Hate him...
Nefertiti Okay and who cares? Move along.
Amen to ethical, laboratory-grown diamonds. What's not to love: They are genuine diamonds, and they cost less (without anyone losing their dignity in the process)!
Yup. And still gorgeous! 💍
That’s why titanic shank 😂😂😂
*sank*
yeah, that's definitely how you spell *_"sank"_*
Shank :)
Wtf with the 1920s hair????
I hope the 100 years series goes on forever!!! I LOVE THIS!
The 1920s jewelry looked very very 1970s...tony duquette ish not at all 1920s deco. as for the 30s, you just did a major copout. The 30s was one of the best decades for diamond jewelry period. There are plenty of etsy designers which create cz jewelry in deco styles which could have been bought or even borrowd. You are Glamour... you could have got any jeweler to let you borrow a few real pieces. stop making these subpar videos which actually dont give any real sense of actual fashion or jewelry history if you can't really do the job.
*looks at the 1920-30' wig..dies*
I legit stopped the video as soon as I saw the "1920s" hair
wtf was the 20s hair
That was a rats nest
Shine bright like a diamond in the sky!
The Hope Diamond has a really older story. His name was "Bleu de France" and he was part of the French Crown Jewels. During the French Revolution, he was stolen, then recut in England.
I've never seen a video look so cheap. Anyone else as shook as I am?
wat do you mean by cheap?
No i could careless.
I'd be afraid to have diamonds in my teeth.
Your “Hope Diamond” is actually The Heart of the Ocean.
Yes
I love these videos. I can watch them all day
Thank you Glamour!
I want all these diamondsssss!!
Same, except I wouldn't want the tooth ones.
I feel so poor right know
They were cheap back then as well as everything else.
Everybody does after seeing that video 💎💎💎💎
Go CZ--All the bling, hardly any of the buck.
Mrz. Duty It wasn’t necessarily cheaper. Back then what we consider cheap was expensive. Not to mention inflation in the stock market.
Why, the jewellry was obviously fake!
Loving all the jewelry history here. It's crazy how much one famous piece can influence the trends. JLo's new rock will definitely be influencing more emerald cuts!
I love learning about this!! I love collecting unique jewelry! My wedding set is 15+ years old, so they didn’t give me the option to choose a conflict free or even a lab grown diamond. Now? I tell my hubby that a lab grown diamond is just fine. It’s all pressurized carbon in the end!:)
The music during the 1940s diamond Era is point on
I'm literally in *love* with the *1920s* 💙 and *1980s* one
My engagement ring is sapphire and I couldn't be happier
Art deco and 20's, 40's, and 50's eras diamonds settings are more fabulous
Love the music in this one!
Diamonds are so beautiful. I love diamonds.
I guess the first one is true about it being cursed because a few moments after Rose put the necklace on, the ship collided with an iceberg and almost everyone died.
Jeffree Star is quaking in his mansion
Why.. Didn't understood
dReaMcAtChER nice 👍
I honestly love the "Elizabeth Taylor diamond"
Wish I had a ring like that, man. It's so cool.
The one part of 80s fashion that isn't terrifying. The 90s, on the other hand...
I really enjoyed this video!
They could have at least come up with decent knock offs. The Krupp diamond is a white, Ascher-cut. Not the yellow thing here.
I don’t know if 2010’s are right or wrong? All I know is I LOVED the 1950’s 😊
I enjoyed Your beautiful video, Great sharing:))
1910s 😍😍😍💙💙💙
I have never been much of a diamond person (give me an amethyst or a pink sapphire any day), but this is a fascinating video for me!
I like watching UA-cam videos, however when the text is so fast you can't even read it... The video just becomes pointless to watch. This video moved way too fast between diamonds in women you didn't actually get to Take It All In.
I think you might be a slow reader...
@@claudial3875
Ok chief 😉
Thank you great entertaining video
This video makes it seem like all diamonds are ethically sourced since the 2010's which is definitely not the case
Gotta love the bling 💎
1910's- Cute
1920's- Pretty
1930's- Amazing!!
1940's- Lovley
1950's- Gorgeous!!!!!
1960's- Cute
1970's- nope
1980's- Cute!
1990's- Nope
2000's- So pretty
2010's- Beautiful
When I saw the first one I yelled “THE HEART OF THE OCEAN”
That’s is not what the Elizabeth Taylor ring looks like at all
hi glamour!❤️ i really love these type of content you're creating it's sparkling like diamonds😉💎✨
Any info about the playlist for this video? Thanks 😇
that 2000's lady has something in her second piercing hole, kinda gross.
Honestly I saw the marilyn monroe theme above the title and I was like got to watch this !
Why did I just watch this
I love diamonds
Diamonds are a a girl's best friend.
Gold is mine. It's worth more anyway.
Trust is mine.
I love the 60s diamond and outfit. What's the song playing then? Also I love tennis bracelets and necklaces.
0:30 if it's true that it brings bad luck to his owners there is why Rose did not have a luck and Jack died. If she didn't wear it Jack could be alive... 😁😁😁😁😁
Logic😂
Annie Pencheva your logic is as great as my hair
Different diamonds but good point lol
Аносчка Катарина Хана Малон so right
Diamonds are forever!
WE LOVE YOU MARILYN! 💕❤️❣️💟💔💝💘
When I saw Marilyn, I instantly thought and hummed to myself,”Diamonds are a girls best friend”.
Finally that its glamour that i know 👽
Oh that’s why the titanic sunk
Kidding😅😅😅
0:26 yup thats the heart of the ocean
100 years of ads by de Beers, now they’re common as salt and costly as Beemers. Remember when marriage had just one gold band? Probably not, you’ve been brainwashed, my man.
Diamonds. She’ll pretty much have to.
heart of the ocean
@Karolina Żebrowska is this historically accurate?
I can already tell you it's not. Maybe some of the factoids but the clothing looks like a cheep Halloween costume at best. Not very period accurate for any of the eras.
My diamond
Yeah Hope Dimond’ve been cursed for real. We remember in Peaky Blinders the night when Grace Shelby was killed that necklace was decorating her neck
I love the 30s, 50s, 60s, and 70s
Lab grown diamonds aren't really environmentally friendly. Are they? It takes a factory to manufacture them, so I am assuming it gives off gas into the environment as well. Maybe they are friendlier than drilling the earth to get the diamonds. I am not sure, but I am just making sure things are correctly represented.
Did Lou Hoover own any diamonds that she actually found (she and her husband were into geology)? If so, did that have any impact on the popularity of such?
This video is *Glamour* ous 💎💙
Luv the pun 😍❤😍❤😍
*suddenly wants the tennis bracelet*
3:10 oh no
that was wierd
My 30 year old cousin has a tooth diamond
What's the music during the 40's? Anyone know?
Classical with a modern twist of tribal drums?
Love that the 'Hope diamond' brings bad luck.
Models name please?
No other jeweller defined the glamour and sophistication of diamond jewellery in the 50’s and 60’s in the US more than Tiffany & Co.
I used to wear that tooth diamond
Diamonds are forever mine
"Excelsior!" -Stan Lee
Diamond shined on the model
The Fantasy Bra?
0:12 TITANIC
Next will be 100 years of moissanite.. nobody will even bother to look at diamonds
Marilyn Monroe's Diamond Necklace just makes most women around the world Jealous.
I wanted the the hope diamond so bad but after I read the bad luck thing I didnt want it any more:))
Um well diamonds aren't actually worth a lot of money, gold is worth more
THIS VIDEO ONLY COST 1 MILLION
far far far far less...its all fake and bad fakes at that.
4:11 that really sounded like the beginning of Itzy's dalla dalla
I can't watch Titanic. That movie can be very scary. The scary part is when Jack freezes solid and Rose has to drown him. It's been giving me nightmares ever since 1997. Do you hear that, Leo? Never scare me like that ever again!
2:02 I thought it was Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
Kohinoor left the chat😑
i was hoping for 2010s to see a rapper completely iced out but okay
My favorite is 1950s.. What's yours?
