They still sell Tang in the large round carboard and metal cans in Canada.....just bought one....hadnt had it since the 60s. Great stuff!

This is another great release from Compass Box! Excellent review-- you two pulled a lot of notes out of this. This is what more companies should be doing-- putting out great malt blends at a fair price. I guess I'm a Compass Box fan boy, too.

This was a refreshing release from Compass Box - very modestly priced, not trying to make a statement or do anything too "groundbreaking," just a good solid no-frills blended malt for $50. Scott you are spot on with that dried hay / straw note. Cheers guys

this whisky is so interesting. i even get the tiny bit of peat theyve added on the finish. really well blended.
going to have to look for the peat now!
Did you mention it is a Blended Malt @ 46% abv for that $45? I will replace mine.
Recipe breakdown is as follows:
39% Linkwood first fill Bourbon
29% Clynelish first fill Bourbon
20% Benrinnes first fill Bourbon
8% Distiller near Aberlour revatted Oloroso Sherry
2% Caol Ila first fill Bourbon
2% Highland malt blend French Oak
(Glen Moray Balmenach & Tomatin)
Thanks for the info. Finnished mine last week and never noticed any peat from the Caol ila. Guess I will have to buy another to search for that 2% Caol ila peat 😁

They always make good stuff...
The Oak Cross and Spice Tree had very similar blends..one was discontinued in 2021 and one the single malts were changed.
They must evolve as they are blenders.

Sad to learn Oak Cross has been discontinued; I will give Orchard House a try based on this review. I recently bought two bottles of Oak Cross and will need to ration it now.

Just now trying this one. Only the second Compass Box I’ve tried. I like this one more than Peat Monster. Certainly like it better than Johnnie Walker Green which went up to $91 at my store…. Kind of reminds me of the scotch version of a high end Four Roses with the floral notes.

They consistently release good expressions and appear to have a breadth of blending talent

I saw this about 3 weeks ago, saw the price, took a bottle, tried it , then proceeded to take the last 4 bottles off of the shelf. I would give 100.00 a bottle, it is that good... YMMV. I agree with these dummies, no water, not even a drop. Water is not this blend's friend.

@@ScotchTestDummies First pour from this one came up all fruit on the nose, like a basket of mixed fruit on the kitchen table. The taste just coated those aromas with honey. Will have to go back for closer, and more extensive testing.

Sounds like this has a fair amount of Speyside. Tang is not a usual tasting note. Remembering an old Johnny Carson bit about Tang on the moon.😏 Popcorn sounds like a bourbon note. Water really changes it.

Just opened a bottle last night. I wonder how much variation there is bottle to bottle. It was sweet, interesting, but uninspiring. Didn’t make an impression but so what? The price was very reasonable. Worth trying.

you should be able to find it, its not a limited run.
If you contact Compass Box directly they will help you find or order a bottle.
One issue though... This bottle does not come in a box. Weird for Compass BOX! :D
Compass Box is delicious. I could poo poo the price. However, I would have to admit to being a hypocrite after breaking my own rule of buying a whiskey for more than $150 US (Four Gate Release 17; SPLIT STAVE BY KELVIN BRRYE). I have no regrets for either purchase.
