Mazdaspeed3 Exhaust Comparison | Stock vs Resonator Delete vs CP-E Triton Catback vs Full Turboback

- Sorry for any audio clipping, all video was recorded on my phone and for some reason was consistent across most of the videos but I still felt like it provided good information for those deciding what route to go with their Speed exhaust.
When I got the catback, I also got an intake and turbo inlet at the same time which also provided the additional whistle and turbo spool you'll hear.
Mod list:
CP-E Triton catback exhaust
Ultimate Racing catted downpipe
Ultimate Racing test pipe
Cobb SF Intake + turbo inlet
Turbosmart Kompact BPV (full recirc)
Autotech HPFP
Bilstein B14 coilovers
Dizzy Tuned - Розваги
For those interested: Just finished putting a new built motor and BNR S4 in the Speed! After I finish the break-in process and get it properly tuned I'll post another video comparing the sound differences between these stock motor clips to the new step up to continue to document the differences in sound. Stay tuned and have a fantastic day! :)
Where the new video at?
@@ItsRiiiickagreed
even stock it has a good exhaust note, but that Triton is just fantastic
This video is a piece of GOLD for us all. How the hell does it only have 145 likes and 4k+ views is beyond me
Well done, surprised what that DP did for the sound. I like it the best.
My boy is a car enthusiast now, I'm so proud! My Man!
great video, loved the comparisons
I loved how bone stock it was at first then later on turned into a beast 😈.
full turbo back sounds incredible
Love the difference in the car aswell every clip!!!
Great video. Love how you went from stock and removed from there. Not many other do this and its amazing. I recommend putting links in description if possible for parts you install tho.
Only issue is a fair bit of the parts I got secondhand haha. I'd honestly recommend EdgeAutosport if you want to find any of the parts I have, not only are their prices usually the best bang for the buck + the parts are actually quality, the customer service team has always been super helpful and responsive when I've had to deal with them.
Oh for sure. I'd make videos of my full rebuild on my mazda b2200 but its all custom work. But like for example the cherry bomb glass pack i installed. I'd have found like a link so anyone who was interested in a similar build they could access the product or have a general idea of the part. Eventually I want to do something similar and I don't see a lot of people including stuff. Like I wish some of the euro boys would help out the us market with how they have awd on a speed3 as a oem feature. Have a blessed week.
Sounds beautiful! I got the full UR set up, but that's only because CPEs catback was way too expensive haha. Nice job
Those pops were insane
Ive got the same set up! sounds great
Just picked up a used triton cant wait to slap it on
let me know how it sounds. thinking about doing the same
@@leebklebanov7181 it’s very aggressive sounding man the police are going to love it 😊
Sounds good👍
Was there any highway drone with the cp e catback and stock downpipe? Sounds good but I don't want to feel like my head's going to explode on a long highway trip as I'll be taking them often. Cars awesome, and thanks for this video!
even with the downpipe it's still very tame at idle and while cruising! ive taken it on a few 3-hour trips and it was honestly super comfy, even had my two passengers able to sleep on the ride back which is a pretty decent testament to it's ability to be quiet when you want it to lmao
@@avenoir thanks for your reply, you've sold me on this setup. It sounds SO GOOD.
With the full catted turboback, how much louder was it compared to the stock downpipe and was there any drone with the catted downpipe?
I'd say it definitely adds a lot more sound and less tone than an axle back. So overall just a decibel increase. Drone is low-to-moderate: stock I had no issues going for a 2+ hr road trip with non-car friends, after the DP install it's noticable at highway speeds but nothing that's annoying. With the DP I can definitely see people getting angry if I started it too early lol. It's all about finding the right mufflers and resonators really though when you want to refine tone.
Not sure if you’re still active man, but do you remember about how much power you were pushing with all these bolt ons and stock turbo? Getting my Speed3 soon and planning on a similar set up for the time being
Never got it dyno'd so not too sure! imagine not too much over stock though
shit sounds like subaru lol. nice setup man
Gotta love those unequal headers that they put on the car from the factory
appreciate it! actually had a blobeye wrx before this so that might have influenced the way it sounds lmfao
That nice 😁👌 Sound Tho
I love the sound of the C-pe triton catback but, on a stock down pipe a tune isn't requiered right?
Nope, with only a catback I wouldn't worry about a tune, though if you get a downpipe or an intake you'll definitely need one.
@@avenoir I've heard some intakes don't requiere a tune, is that true?
@@androidpg1535A 3" intake you might get away with, though I'd get HPFP internals any time you touch anything more then the catback. I'd really recommend a tune though, as you're modifying the amount of air the engine is expecting to see and won't get the full efficiency of the intake without telling the ECU to expect something different. These platforms are a little pricey to start modifying but it pays off tenfold in reliability if you actually treat it right.
@@androidpg1535 if the intake uses stock diameter maf housing, then it shouldn't need a tune.
How did you connect the resonated cat back to a resonator delete. Did u just do the resonator deleted again ? I’m asking because I want to buy the same catback but it’s not giving me an option to pick non resonated.
the resonated CPE catback replaced the resonator deleted section of exhaust, so it was just the CPE catback for the one clip and then the CPE + the downpipe after.
@@avenoir On a scale from 1-10 how loud is it. Because I want a loud catback. Would u recommend this over the ultimate racing cbe or is it a perfect sound. Videos only do so much lol
@@paulrobinson3464 I'd give it like a 7/10, it's loud but I had a straight piped Subaru before this that was much louder. Love the tone though personally, this is one of the less raspy exhausts for this car - if you don't care about rasp though the Ultimate Racing catback is louder in person than the C-PE imo. If you just want loud I'd go with Ultimate Racing
@@avenoir How much louder is it than stock?
@@KyleOfSteel much much louder while accelerating, hot idle isn't really too much of a sound increase though. the main thing that doesn't come though video is the extra bass you get when when adding the downpipe, which is really what makes it sound a lot louder in person.
What website did you use to buy the CP-E Triton Catback? There’s like three websites I found, just trying to make sure I get the right one 😈thanks!
Got mine from edgeautosport - I've ordered thousands in parts from them in the past and always quick to ship with a solid customer service department!
@@avenoir thanks!! Appreciate it !
My 2.5L with full exhaust sounds sweet too
Fuck, I'm kinda scared to see what my neighbors are gonna think of my fbo, built long block, cst4, cpe catless Triton setup 😭
Where did u get the smoked taillights ? 🏁🏁🏁
I just used some 35% 3M window tint on em. If you lay down 3M knifeless tape before laying the tint it makes it super easy to just outline what you want cut out (the clear in the reverse) and then just lay the tint and peel the tape and you'll get results just like this. they also make pre-cut tint overlays if you don't wanna cut it yourself!
Whats a good catted downpipe for a cpe triton ? im stock everything except intake (stock diameter) and want this exhaust tone. I need it to be catted because im staying on stock mapping for a while
the Ultimate Racing downpipe is what I have, but the catted DP from CPE or Cobb both get the job done (albeit more expensive than UR).
@@avenoir okay for sure and obviously the cpe catted downpipe would sound better than the oem one?
@@lonewanderer958 for sure, the OEM DP has two cats and the cpe and other aftermarket DPs have one. Not to mention the cat in these is much higher flow and a lot less restrictive.
@@avenoir okay sweet thanks for the info, will i need a tune for an aftermarket catted DP?
@@lonewanderer958 I'd recommend at least getting HPFP internals for a even a catted DP, a tune would also be recommended but not absolutely necessary. These cars suck to start modifying since there's a pretty linear upgrade path that you'll need to spend a bit of $$$ on initially if you want to make sure everything is going to retain reliability, but totally worth it in the long run since it tends treats you right if you treat it right!
does the gen1 ms3 have the same stock exhaust as the gen2?
no, second gens come stock with dual exhaust while first gens come with a single-exit exhaust
idk why but i prefer the stock downpipe with the catback system more
If I get an HTP 3.5" intake, do I still need an upgraded TIP?
definitely to make the most of it, since the TIP would then become the bottleneck for airflow.
@@avenoir okay. I wasnt sure if the intake bolted straight to the turbo in place of the TIP. I guess what I'm saying is I thought maybe a full 3.5" intake would replace stock intake box and TIP
@@avenoir so the 3.5" intake would bolt to the upgraded TIP, correct?
@@NewDemons666 no, i actually didn't know since I don't have a 3.5" intake but the HTP intake requires that you use a smaller battery box and actually removes the TIP altogether so it's just one intake unit that will be fed into the turbo. I think the turbo inlet from the intake is just a small reducer coupler since the turbo inlet is less than 3.5" obviously
@@NewDemons666 a year later, but to answer your question - a 3.5" intake replaces the oem airbox, maf housing, and inlet pipe. It's a filter, maf housing, and single pipe back to the turbo.
Is this with or without the muffler for the CPE triton catback?
With the muffler
@@avenoir cheers, do you have any more videos of the sound with just the catback exhaust? if so do you have a social media you can send them on?
@@AM-ez9ef I actually do! shoot me a DM on insta, @1speedyboi
do yk around what percent tint your back taillights are?
35% 3M brand tint
where'd u get ur tail lights from ?
it's just 35% tint cut to shape using knifeless tape. I used 3 in-lays though (3 different pieces of tint) since the tail lights are oddly shaped to make sure it didn't peel or crease over time. they're still holding up strong today!
What did you do to make it shoot when shifting
basically just the downpipe, it's even catted so a catless setup would give you even louder pops. just make sure you get HPFP internals and a tune and you should be good to go
@@avenoir where did you tune yours ?
@@tropicalbeats3183 Jason at Dizzy Tuning did my tune, it's actually not even a pop tune but I think he does that kinda thing of that's what you're looking for. definitely recommend him for e-tuning!
No CEL after installation on stock DP?
Nope. No CEL after the UR downpipe installation either, since it's catted there were no issues.
@@avenoir Gotcha, I thought it will throw a CEL when installing the catback only and the rest of the exhaust being stock.
Where are those taillights from
just some 35% tint cut to shape using knifeless tape! Had to use like 3 in-lays though (3 different pieces of tint) since the tail lights are oddly shaped to make sure it didn't peel or crease over time
See that smoke? Burning oil out the turbo. Mine does the same
haha all higher-mile k04s do this as they go out, not attached to it by any means - just riding it out for now though lol
that doesn't sound stock in first clips. burble tune?
Nope, didn't even have an accessport or HPFP internals at the time of that clip, completely stock lol. Speeds are typically quite burble-y at idle, mine was quite similar to the other stock speeds I've heard at car meets. Something to do with the direct injection IIRC but don't quote me on it lmao.
@@avenoir Interesting, I guess I never stood at the back of my car while it was idling or when someone else drove it. Cool!
BOI, where you at in Ohio? I don't have any Speed friends around me, for my MSP or MS3 😂
add me on insta and we can chat man! @1speedyboi
sound like an ej motor lmao
