    It’s taken me a while, but I’m finally starting to understand the appeal of these gorgeous, colourful acrylic sumps. Those lids on almost every section - that alone makes me want one. That sump you just put in is beautiful! 👍🏻👍🏻

      Thanks Rick. It can be difficult sometimes to stop and film these jobs. When I get on a roll I like to keep going until the job is done, however I do enjoy doing the videos and hope to keep doing them for a long time to come. Cam

      We totally have that planned in the next few weeks. We kinda forgot to cover the dosing on “Epic Tanks no. 1” so the plan is to go back and look at the dosing in detail. Cam

    Hey Cam, great video mate, I used to have the Aqua Reef 300, great tank but the sump as good as it was had a major let down and yeah you’ve guessed it was the G220 skimmer, I hated that thing... seemed no matter what I did to it, it either flooded the cup continually or the noise it made really got annoying. I got rid of it to the tip, and replaced it with a BM Curve 5, much better and efficient. It’s a shame really that even though Aquaone do great aquariums but then let them down with poor equipment to run them... but hey as you well know us reefers will spend spend spend on bigger and better equipment to make the aquarium go better... lol I’ve stopped adding it up, and least of all dread telling the wife that I need something else 😂👍👍

      I’ve always been into the idea of buying the Aquareef for the tank, then changing all the componentry. It just happens that this is the first one that I’ve installed an acrylic sump into, however we already have an order for a new AR400 with a Hmahli sump that we’ll film in the next few weeks😊 Cam

    Loving the work. Those sumps look the part. Instead of metal hose clamps check out a product called "plasclip" (you can find them online). Plastic hose clamps that are ultra strong, don't rust and are cheap.

    • @GalleryAquaticaTV
      @GalleryAquaticaTV  5 років тому +1

      I use plastic hose clamps on 13mm and 16mm tubing, but haven’t seen them in the other size tubing I use. I’ll check out those ones, I’d love something better. Cam

      @Macca_75 5 років тому +1

      @@GalleryAquaticaTV - these worm drive clamps go from something like 15mm all the way through to 200mm - you hand pull the tail through, insert the worm drive screw and tighten. Very versatile.

    Nice video thank you for sharing. If that sleeve on your main drain doesn’t workout, hard plumbing a proper union might be better. 👍

    • @GalleryAquaticaTV
      @GalleryAquaticaTV  5 років тому

      I would definitely have used a union if I could, it seems the Aquareef drain pipe is not a standard we use here in Australia unfortunately. Cam

    If the chiller takes from the return section and returns to the skimmer section. Then you will have in efficient cooling as the cool water goes almost straight back into the return section. Is it not better to go Vectra to chiller to tank return? You can then get rid of the chiller pump that adds heat to the water. You dial the Vectra to the perfect flow. This is how I have run all my previous chilled tanks ina very hot country!

    • @GalleryAquaticaTV
      @GalleryAquaticaTV  5 років тому +2

      You can definitely run the return through the chiller, however I prefer a dedicated chiller pump. The main reason is that the optimal flow through the chiller is generally far less than what you’d want for your return. Also I like being able to keep the chiller going and water moving through the sump whilst I do the service. Cam

    What about all the biological media. Wont that crash levels. Dam. I'd put a 2x4 brace closer to right side, you guys are nuts. I'd be scared shitless removing that brace with all that salt creep. My heart is skipping beats. Sumps are such a biological creature it's so nice to see people exposing them.

    Why not a union or coupling to extend the feed line to the sump with hard tube?

    Hot damn I love this upload schedule!

    • @GalleryAquaticaTV
      @GalleryAquaticaTV  5 років тому +2

      Good question, flexible hoses are easier. I prefer to hard plumb drains mainly because it’s neater, and it easily allows for dismantling when barrel unions are used. Cam

    • @JohnArthurEcholsIV
      @JohnArthurEcholsIV 5 років тому +1

      @@GalleryAquaticaTV Yeah I was curious, why the extender on the drainage line instead of gluing in some hard pipe?

    • @GalleryAquaticaTV
      @GalleryAquaticaTV  5 років тому

      It was easier than trying to find the exact same size pipe. I don’t think the Aquareef 400 drain pipe is a standard Australian pipe size.

    • @TattooedDancer91
      @TattooedDancer91 5 років тому +1

      @@GalleryAquaticaTV oh okay, thanks. So there's not more noise or anything liket hat in flexible hoses? (I only have all in one tanks, so I've never tried the plumbing part of the hobby yet)

    The clear sleeve..is that large tubing? I like that just because you can see if a snail clogged.

    • @GalleryAquaticaTV
      @GalleryAquaticaTV  5 років тому +1

      It’s (soft) CVT. I sometimes use clear rigid, but in this case the soft tubing was the only option that fit. Cam

      @@GalleryAquaticaTV fair enough, hope its all healed up. Just stumbled upon your channel (doing an ea reef pro 1200 build soon). Pretty cool guys. Not alot of channels like this, watching your vids kinda makes wonder why there isn't. New sub from me guys, keep the vids coming 👍
      Particularly like the vids you do on what you might call the more common tanks such as your reefer 250s and 350s etc. Lots of little things I'm picking up which are more applicable to your average reefer like me and interesting to see what you guys do with maintenance, spruce ups, aquascaping etc using tanks more people can afford.
      Your average reefer, I've think you've just given myself a great idea for a channel 🤣.
