I'm taking the NYC 8th Ave uptown & who do I see? Nah, couldn't be...not possible...I just bought the book...it was Gibson & another guy standing over me. He's from another coast, I just bought the book. It can happen & it did & given that my life is very much SF things like that happen far too often. He was wearing this outfit & looking at me looking at him & knew that I recognized him but doubted it was him.
I have 2 comments for Mr. Gibson. 1) Eunice having an introductory party similar to saying "Hello World" was brilliant from a cyberpunk perspective and reminded me why Neuromancer and Pattern Recognition made me a long time fan. 2) With regards to Mr. Gibson's personification of U.S. military personnel, it is my opinion he is personally glorifying war criminals and cyberterrorists as brave, heroic, and deserving of my attention as a fiction character or caricature of DARPA/U.S. military personnel.
Reality stranger than SF. Gibson’s drab black/ white deliberate. Reminds me, Yrs ago in Central Park NYC on a Halloween night: black woman b/w nun’s outfit, the head of b/w raccoon sticking out of a garbage can. Daytime in CP like a zombie movie or Fantastic Beasts up till 2017. I gave up thinking it was me having a bad day long ago. Take theme of Gibson’s Peripheral & apply it to the present. The Belonging Kind comes close also. Too close.
What a privilege to get William Gibson to sit for an interview and what a poor use of his time by asking him such uninformed and poorly thought out questions.
Blah, blah, blah....He was a street geek kid with an academic and literary bent who knew some programmers and hackers who all did recreational drugs (especially in the early days) together through which he derived his plausible future tech scenarios and their dangers and complications. Period.
William Gibson has always been my fav writer. Looking forward to reading his new one.

I heard him say in an interview once that he was "using the oven gloves of science fiction to examine the casserole of the 21st century"
Love how he became both characters in the "American Gothic" painting at once.

What a depressing interviewer.. I think Gibson looks bored. The same cliches and obviously has no interest other than running through set questions.
the interviewer even sounds bored with himself. painful to watch.
It's a media geek not a fanboy, which it should've been.
1st!!!
