Good thoughts on the Peripheral - I was really struck by this book and, in particular, his description of Lev (Russian kleptocracy) was so accurate that I was thunderstruck. Mr. Gibson must have spent some time in that world to gain such insight IMHO.
Good review. 👍 I started reading this before Christmas and still have 100 pages to go. It is definitely a unique experience. Very difficult but rewarding. I had to restart this book three times. I found the lack of privacy in the first near future to be worrying. Any money that shows up in your account has to be accounted for. It's all digital and the IRS will notice all activities in your bank account. I think this is coming if it isn't already here. I plan to watch the TV show as soon as I finish and then start reading Agency.
The tv series was recommended by J. Sarfatti, the physicist, to help understand what’s going on with the alien/ufo situation, which he says is human & AI time travelers from our future. It gets worse, but that’s enough for now.

i had a lot of trouble reading this book.
you are correct, and it is good advice, to read slowly in order to grasp, especially in the beginning.
It’s not an easy style! But very rewarding.
