- On January 6th, 2024, officers were dispatched to a McDonald's in response to a report of an intoxicated employee refusing to leave the premises. This is footage of the events that followed.

It is important to remember that there is a huge selection bias because we don't get to see the (vastly more common) scenario where the intoxicated subject eventually does accept a ride or whatever.

fr did acid walked in a park with some friends had an encounter with the police about being at the park too late. I thanked the officer for keeping the community safe and walked home with my friends. we talk about these situations all the time and know not to act like this. Dont be a dumbass and there wont be an issue. I tell my family that all the time since my older and younger cousins dont understand. It's like talking to a brick wall 99% of the time anyways.

This guy was living in 5-star luxury up until his arrest, he came to work drunk in bliss, his super said "don't worry about it we'll try again tomorrow.", the cops he got were insanely nice and neighborly even going as far as offering this man a FREE RIDE HOME, all he had to do was give an address and walk 10 feet. And within those 10-fucking-feet he turned a write-up at work into a Lemony Snicket's series of unfortunate felonies. Holy shit.

I'm 30 now, and in those 5 years, I've dome a lot of damage to my liver and kidneys. Hoping time will help reverse some damage I've done in the hopes I get to see my kids grow up and watxh them have their own families.

I picked on the dad-isms too, and everyone has been pointing out that he also said "roll onto your tummy", which only convinces me more that he has young kids (along with his experience as a cop dealing with drunks and idiots). Tummy time being important with babies and little 'uns.
Very patient, even kind of humorous at first- both cops were still laughing and taking it easy as he went dead weight on the one before grabbing at his vest. Even after he went to the floor, they still just wanted to pour his drunk dumbness into the car and move on with their day, giving hi a lot of slack because he was so wasted. Light-hearted about even the vest grabbing, which most cops naturally get stern about, until he managed to get a hold on the cop that he couldn't shake off, and actually injured the cops arm.
That's way more leeway than most people get! And good on the cops for being so patient. If the dude had chilled out at that point, he'd have been fine, but he just had to keep pushing and pushing. Then of course acted all wounded innocent when he finally got the arrest he'd been begging for, pushing for then forced them into.
The dude acts like he's 3 so that's how they treated him.
Dude definitely shouldn't drink a sip of alcohol ever again. Hope he sees this video.

I want to commend the police officers who handled this. They handled the situation a lot better than I could have. They were willing to take him home, and then he started getting very belligerent. Good work, guys!
I agree! In a lot of these police videos the officers will say it is against policy for them to take someone home, that the person needs to call a friend or an Uber. But even when an officer goes above and beyond, it goes to show how much alcohol affects your ability to reason.

I am a black woman from Savannah and a lot of the locals there swear up and down that the police are biased towards blacks. I have relatives who have served on the SPD and it's a hard job trying to serve the community. These cops were very patient with this guy.
The system is, individuals aren't. Some people (doctors, teachers, lawyers, cops, janitors, etc.) are racist or discriminatory and some are not. Another example is if you have been repeatedly attacked by people who look like Gilligan, you will tend to be weary of those who look like Gilligan. Not trying to start an argument, just provide clarity on the thinking of some people.

My sister watched her dash cam video from her dui through her lawyer. To this day, she won’t let ANYONE else watch it. She was mortified. Good for her this was before body cam vids on UA-cam. I think shame did more to get her to quit drinking than the fines, jail time or anything else.
