Marià Josep Maria Bernat Fortuny i Marsal (Catalan pronunciation: [məɾiˈa ʒuˈzɛb məˈɾi.ə βəɾˈnat fuɾˈtuɲ i məɾˈsal]; Spanish: Mariano José María Bernardo Fortuny y Marsal; June 11, 1838 - November 21, 1874), known more simply as Marià Fortuny or Mariano Fortuny, was the leading Spanish painter of his day, with an international reputation. His brief career encompassed works on a variety of subjects common in the art of the period, including the Romantic fascination with Orientalist themes, historicist genre painting, military painting of Spanish imperial expansion, as well as a prescient loosening of brush-stroke and color.

One of my favourite painters. The light in his paintings is truly special. I believe it is called "luminism". The painting of the "Children in the Japanese Room" at 3:41 is very small and so adorable. I also like "Fantasy on Faust" (also in Prado museum). Thank you so much for this pleasure!

Es difícil no enamorarse de su pintura. Muere joven como Rosales o Rafael, pero da unas calidades y unos enfoques, una claridad, una luz ( esa luz del norte de África, del Levante español o de las tierras italianas) que nos asombra, y por supuesto la vitalidad, el romper esquemas ya trillados por el academicismo. Fortuny frente a Madrazo, Courbet frente a Ingres, Goya frente a Mengs, Velázquez muy por encima de todos, ...las dicotomías, los diálogos, son inevitables.
Mariano Fortuny Marsal is a Spanish painter, one can imagine how good the painter is at conceiving themes, skillfully using sketching techniques to construct the outlines of characters, and richly using the contrast of mixed colors. His paintings have strong Spanish styles and are added with his own strong personal characteristics.

@@KarolArtsChannel Madrazo fue la ayuda que necesitaba para escalar, como Bayeu para Goya. Tuve la suerte de encontrarme con maravillosas acuarelas de Fortuny, originales y copias de los filosófos de Velázquez ,en el antiguo Casón del Buen Retiro de Madrid, museo dedicado a nuestra pintura del XIX, malogrado por los políticos y la llegada con condiciones del Guernica. Picasso fue un gran pintor, pero también un botarate importancioso.
