Mariano Fortuny, Spanish Painter

Mario Fortuny was one of the most original artists of the day. His procedure in painting was entirely unique and separate from the Ecole des beaux-arts of Paris. Even Meissonier and Gerome paid their respects to the young talent. Henri Regnault was his junior and when they met in Rome they were immediate friends/fellow artists on a journey of discovery. When Fortuny went to Paris his works won great praise and his style was wholly unique and gained wide acceptance and marketability.
