Hello thank you for this helpful clip .i have a question do you need to adjust indicator for each angel every time?i mean if you need to change the angel for example to 42 or 35, do you have to set indicator to new angle again ? Thanks.
You mean to zero out the needle . No you can set the new angle while leaving the needle straight up and on zero but it takes a little finessing to get it perfect. Otherwise when you change angles and the needle isnt zeroing out right away you just move the outer ring so that the needle and zero line up as i did in the video . The zero could be anywhere such as 12 o clock, 5 o clock, etc., but its still your stopping point. i hope this helps some.
Was wondering if sometime you can go through a cleaning process of your machine. This fall I'll be receiving an ultra tec (an older one) .not sure how the threaded stock for the vertical movement is cleaned and then lubed. Is there a product you can recommend? Thank you , Daryl Stevenson
In my opinion , after using a dial indicator , i dont care for them. I use and reccommend a beale wolley meter which is simply an electronic depth of cut device which can be connected to an ultra tec machine easily. I found i didnt like the dial indicators return spring tension when reaching the stop point. When i used a facetron it was very noticeable , the ultra tec not as bad. I like whats called a hard stop machine and adding a dial indicator gives the feel of a soft stop machine . This is my opinion , you may be fine with the dial ind.. As long as you are getting a v5 machine you probably wouldnt need anything more than the DAD digital angle display.
yes, i believe the audible alarm feature is intergrated in the digital display on the UT v5 which is available as an upgrade for my v2 machine. Im planning on purchasing the digital angle display soon for my machine.
I have sold the facetron. I have cut 2 stones on this ultra tec but had one before . I like the screw gear mast on the UT although it is slower to use than the facetrons but is easier to use when raising the head up and down. The splash bowl is deeper on the UT. The U T has a small transfer jig which will not work for me when i do the very large stones. To be fair , UT is now offering a very large transfer jig. The motor on the facetron was a slightly faster motor . Accuracy on both machines seems equal. It does take a little more time to set the UT angle. the facetron sells new for $3495, the UT v5 non digital is $4595.
Yes, i had gotten a great deal on the facetron 2 years ago, had it upgraded to the dial indicator depth gauge but i came across this ultra tec and i will add the digital gauge later on.
@@tennpikr74 I bought the same V2 two months ago. Also I will upgrade it in exactly the same way. The way to Germany is unfortunately somewhat longer. But I do not want to do without it.
if someone can really help me with a machine of those I am in Venezuela and I want to leave the country I am a gemologist but I do not have the necessary resources to buy a machine someone can help me then I facetos rocks in the form of gems and I will pay the machine. whoever wants to communicate with me please I thank you very much.
Nice video, Brent. V2's are really hard to find, and you definitely scored with that one... It's beautiful.
Thanks john. Im enjoying using it .

I've seen the V5 ultra tec has an alarm when you reach the depth. Is this alarm comparable with your machine ?

How much this is faceting head v2 and how to deliver to sri lanka
You would need to contact the company ; www.ultratec-facet.com
What happened to your Facetron? Let us know how you like the Ultra tec... I believe it's half the cost of a Facetron..
