Hi i just wonder when should i do this ? before even starting the pavilion or at the end for table ? If i do this at the end it might change the angels of facet for crown.
Hello Babak, this setup should be done before cutting the table. However your machine must be accurate before cutting anything and the mast should be perpendicular to the flat lap, also the quill should be parallel to the lap, to check that, set the quill at 90* and insert a dop, go down on the lap and make sure the dop is flat on the lap and there's no light in between, if they are not flat and parallel then you need to adjust the angle of the quill. I hope this will help you with your setup.
I have been googling for the 2 tools you show in this video but can not find them. Could you give me their proper names, or better, provide a link to a source for them?
@@askndeniz5781 You can send me the picture using this email eg.therockman@gmail.com I think I know what you want but send the picture just to be sure.
Do you make and sell these table setters or know where I can buy one? I have a very basic flat lap machine and am new to the hobby. Tables keep ruining my projects. 😔
Hi Jasmine, I do have the table jig but first you have to subscribe to my new UA-cam channel because I can't upload anymore videos in this channel. The link is below. Now before you buy this jig, I need to know what are you working on, are you doing faceting? you also can communicate directly with me using this email eg.therockman@gmail.com Here's the new link to my new channel it's under Elie Ghanime. ua-cam.com/channels/3zSF2wGBv1pzuUYksU8d3w.html
+matt kermani Hello Matt, I'm not sure what you mean by cutting pear shape. However, if you're cutting the pear shape using an existing design, by the time you finish the pavillion and the girdle, the stone will start to take the pear shape. About charging the polishing laps I will have new videos uploaded showing how to charge copper and ceramic laps, so if you did not subscribe to my channel yet please do so you can get notified every time I post a new video. Tanks. EG
+Eg Jewels Hello.Thank you for fast respond. by the pear shape cut I meant, if I have an 96 index gear, when I am going to do the first facet cut and the gem is already prepared in pear shape, at the first step of faceting do I have to put the tip of the gem on 96 or the base of gem on 96? I have already subscribed on your channel. I am looking forward for your new videos. Thank you so much.
+matt kermani The position of the stone will depend on the design you're cutting, if you look at the plan view of the drawing it will show you the 96 location. If the stone is already cut to shape and you need to relocate it in the right position then you'll need to find a flat facet on the girdle (usually the base of the pear), find the location of that girdle facet on the index gear and set it at that location, set the angle at 90 deg. and come down on a flat lap, set the girdle flat on the lap then lock your dop...Mark the girdle facet with a sharpie and touch it on the lap (no cutting) just to see where it's touching then adjust if necessary by using the cheaters.
The Alpha Taurus is also out of business, but I recently connected with the inventor of that machine and he is building me one with all the new parts he has left from his business. He has enough parts in his shop to build 3 machines. He is a retired airo space engineer. He also invented the spectometer used by the GIA to look inside of diamonds. Smart guy.
Hi Chris, Hi Chris, I make them myself but I don't have any left, I will be making some more so if you give me your email I can let you know when I have them.
Thank you for the tips.. i would reallg like to learn more..and very much interested in new uploads...

What brand is your faceting machine?
Great. I have an Alpha Taurus, but been looking at a future machine like Fac-Ette and a machine from Brazil from Lapidart.com.br
