  • I had a chance last year to get to collect at a pretty interesting local that produced tenebrescent hackmanite. Tenebrescence is a phenomenon that occurs when a mineral changes colour after UV light exposure. If you want to check out a in depth video on the topic I would recomend ‪@CurrentlyRockhounding‬ video on the topic. See link bellow.

    It's fantastic to see this location. It would also be great to see that place at night.

    Last summer I was digging a garden and found all sorts of interesting fossils, there is a field and large rock pile near by with even more fossils. I am going to start hunting for arrowheads and different rock/minerals/crystals. Do you have any videos for beginners? Maybe a video that explains what kind of tools i should invest in, how to clean and label and properly collect, or any tips and tricks for someone new. Love your videos, thank you for all the wonderful content. I cannot wait for the spring weather now! Take care

      Depends on where you are roughly, generally check the rules for collecting where you live and go from there as i learned recently that you can't collect in Ontario so I don't anymore. If ypu live somewhere where you I would say stick to surface collecting and generally it's good practice to GPS track all your finds.

    Good Sir, when are you doing a "live" with Jared? Both you guys are a wealth of knowledge. BTW, love these finds. In addition, the apatite contest specimen is gorgeous! Vitreous, well formed, with a termination point that is crying to go under my microscope.. Thank You.

      Thanks, glad you liked the specimen. I would love to sit down and talk with Jared. I feel like when compared to him, I am still just a plebeian when it comes to rockhounding

      @CurrentlyRockhounding we'll have to try and set up something in the future then.

    How long until it reverts?

    • @Ontario_Rockhound
      @Ontario_Rockhound  8 місяців тому

      Depends on the quality of the peices, one of my specimens takes a couple hours to fully revert whereas most only take a minute or two to revert.
