GREAT to see Sulle again. I was in Depot Para (450 Platoon) with him and also in 3 Para in Osnabruck, West Germany, 1980. I know all about how people were so racist to him. You should have asked him about his first night in B Company platoon barracks, Osnabruck... They were all dressed up like the klu klux klan, with burning torches, he was so terrified, that when I was going to breakfast the next morning (I was in A company), I met him. He had slept under a bush all night, because of the way B Company had treated him on his arrival.
Later, of course, everyone grew to love Sulle, yes always smiling and a good laugh and always in good humour. A great bloke and I'm delighted to see this video and learn about how he survived in the Falklands. And GREAT that he became a Lieutenant Colonel...AMAZING STORY altogether. Best Regards Sulle, Paddy Kenny.

Hi Peter Thanks for watching this & for your service. We split the interview into two parts and did indeed ask him about the KKK incident - here it is in the other part of the video - ua-cam.com/video/WVkmVAR49sM/v-deo.html All the very best to you & appreciate you watching

Hi Kenny, thank you for your kind words. I’m laughing as I write this because I’m reminiscing about the time we decided to practice on the Tranasium before doing P Company. When you ran across the planks and jumped into the cargo net, some how, you managed to go feet first straight through the net and landed on the ground. Me and Geoff Dodds were in stitches.

I’ve just finished watching both parts of the video. What an amazing and inspirational man you are Sir, God bless you! I will certainly be keeping my ear to the ground regarding the publication of your book. P.S. I like to think it was the army that sorted me out too, as I wasn’t the nicest of people in my younger years.

@ I remember his Para buddies coming to do a talk slide show about the Falklands. We thought it was brilliant. The bit I remember most was when they said all they carried was ammo, rations and dry socks.

Mates older brother went out there, 8000miles away and came back damaged, used to wake up and lag all over the tv 📺 while sleepwalking and replaying the bulldozing of the dead teenage Argentinian soldiers in to a mass grave,he was only early twenties himself and was closed down for the rest of his life. Another casualty of Englands glory that never gets published in the jingoistic and disgraceful tabloid 🗞️ fiction that has the southern lads in their hands and its beyond sad. 8000 Miles Away- Jegsy Dodd. 1988. Street poetry par excellence. 📚☘️🙏⚽️🎸

@ Nice one, been into him and his music since Winebars and Werewolves and theStairways days, only spoken to him a few times but decent enough to chat openly and that, alongside his talent, is enough for us. We 1st heard 8000 Miles Away driving 5 up in an Orion and the vibe went from usual night out foolery to it popping up on the radio and we were so affected by it the jockey pulled over and I wouldn’t be out of order to suggest a few tears were shed, powerful and succinct at!! Thank him next time you see him please because he’s hit many good lads lives for the better. 🙏☘️ #DoddShoplifters 🤣🤣👍

A very interesting man, many thanks from a fellow ex soldier from the Royal Irish Rangers/ Regiment. Love hearing the stories of combat. Personally, never really experienced anything too bad, apart from shot at, bombed, petrol bombed , the normal piss and shit thrown at us in Northern Ireland. Was there from the start in Kosovo, but in reality nothing really happened. Was in Bosnia, same detail. If i was to write a book about my 23 years in the Army, probably wouldn't be worth reading, nothing worthy of reading. Unless you are interested in the bullshit we had on a daily basis, more interested if our boots were polished, or if we shaved. Marching as a squad? Room inspections? Checking our kit, to make sure we had an unused bar of soap or toothpaste? Wtf was all that about. Over my years, i ended up attached to different Regiments, and they weren't interested in your bar of soap, or if your room perfectly clean. Then I joined the Royal Irish Home Service element, and i could of sworn i joined a different Army. We were like civilians, as no accommodation in the camps for us, turn up to work, stick a uniform on, grab a weapon and go out. Honestly, I found them the most professional soldiers i have ever served with, in uniform. Out of it not so much 😢😢😢. Seriously was proud to have done the latter part of my service with them.

@DaveSCameron Yes Indeed, from what I know, it was weather related as opposed to actual enemy action. There was the other Puma helicopter, across from Grytvicken, excuse the spelling, that was shot down, Argentine I believe. I done two tours of South Georgia, the rest the Company went to the Falklands, this was early 90s, so times were different obviously. Actually a lovely place, scenery and wildlife are out of this world. Was peaceful, I look back upon that time and think Wow, and at times wish I was back there, looking at the state of the country today.

Is everyone aware that the “special relationship “ between Maggie and Ronnie when he was telling her that she had complete and solo access to the American satellite technology that was early GPS was absolute nonsense and he was sharing the exact same intelligence with the Argentinian Junta . #OurHistory 🇬🇧📚🙏
