Thank you for the info! When I had my own web site I was confused on how to remit state taxes, I am in the USA. I couldn't get a straight answer. Now that I have been on Etsy for almost two years with some success I am ready to tackle my own web site again. Etsy is a good platform to begin with as the process can be overwhelming otherwise

I have a website for one of my shops. Most of my sales are still from my Etsy shop.

Hi Jill, that's awesome! Sounds like you just need a good traffic and sales plan for the website part, so it can start selling on top of your Etsy sales.

Thank you for this very interesting video.
It was for these reasons that I migrated my shop from Etsy to my personal site a few years ago.
But in my case, it was a bad idea because I was just starting out and had no visibility compared to the Etsy marketplace.
So I went back and I don't regret it!
However, what I think is also missing on Etsy is the possibility of having a private VIP section, for our Patreon subscribers for example...

Thanks for sharing, Lucy! All great points; might be cool to have an Etsy "VIP" section 🤔 wonder what that might look like! - Lindsey @ Team Tizzit

@@Tizzitco well, not sure what this would look like. However partnership between @Patreon and @Etsy would be really interesting.

Yes you need a traffic strategy on your own website but you do also need one on Etsy (SEO at the very least to tap into their audience) so it's just a different type of marketing work ;-) - Deb

The Big problem is that Paymant Reserve. It's killing my etsy shop, no sales for over one month and half

I might have a video about this coming up... It's certainly an issue.

I opened my website after my sales on Etsy grew. But the traffic to my site has been like a slow leak on a faucet. A few sales here and there, but never consistent. It’s been on “pause”, which is a nice feature on Shopify, since earlier this year. I’ve been thinking about changing my hosting service, just not sure which one to go with.

I think Shopify is a good platform, I wouldn't necessarily recommend changing "hosting" in your case as you'd also lose your website design, etc because it's all in one with Shopify. A good traffic plan would turn the slow leak faucet into a strong watering hose and it's really worth it for how much easier it is to scale after that and the control you have ;-) On TOP of Etsy of course, no reason to stop Etsy.

@@Tizzitco thanks Deb! I’ll start doing research on a traffic plan.
