It sometimes is just the diagonal the rider hits, and sometimes it makes for the horse to be more balanced. In equitation the rider must be on the correct diagonal unless asked for a change which is not unusual for a work out. A lot of trainers take the wrong one to help the horse to be more balanced and weight easier distribution. Easiest way I can explain it. Other reasons but would have to show it.

They are lovely indeed. Do you ride saddle seat? If so, why do some of the riders post on the wrong diagonal? This type of riding is outside my wheelhouse, so I have no clue if it's deliberate or not...

These horses do not look normal. They look in pain. They ALL get a ribbon.

They are perfectly normal examples of their breed! They are not in pain, their gaits are natural. You must not know anything about saddlebreds.

The music used at Saddlebred shows is usually derived from the old standard tunes from the 30/40/50's .... "Alley Cat", "Mr. Sandman", "The Orange Blossom Special", etc. The organ is used because it is reminiscent of the calliope once common at circuses and county fairs. It is traditional music and not "pop" music, so many people are not familiar with the songs used. A good organist will play in time with the horses' gaits, making it seem that the horses are dancing to the music. I won't say the horses aren't appreciative of the music either, some of them are consummate hams and they know when it's.........SHOWTIME!

@@radchannel5494 I have never heard that it pertains to circus music. I've always had heard that it was tradition from the 40s, and an organ was a relatively inexpensive way to provide music at horse shows, and that it was loud. I attended Arabian shows and Charity shows that played organ music in the early 70s. It was fun.
I do not care for some of the music that was played at Arabian and Youth Nationals this last year. It shows my age :(
I started out with a Saddlebred and then went to Arabians, but stayed at a Saddlebred farm for 13 years. They were nice about me sending my horses to another trainer for a tune up.
      Random thoughts.

This type of music is is also classical, which is one of the best genres of music to help horses calm themselves
