Back in the mid-'70's I ran across the Auroa Safety car rotting behind a gas station in Wallingford Ct. It was in terrible shape and the owner of the lot said I could have the car if I just took it away. Sadly, being a 25-year-old living in a one-bedroom apartment I had no garage to move it to or the funds to restore such a big, unusual car. Glad to see it ended up in the right hands.
In my 45yrs of driving in Sydney, I only ever saw one Goggomobil Dart on the road, however I did meet his nephew once at a car-show, & his surname is also Buckle, & dealership is still run by the Buckle family! I've also known someone who bought a Messerschmitt micro-car as his first vehicle but didn't keep it for long as he hated the way it rode on our awful roads!
@@EVISEH Any car. So, you are saying that they are too dangerous to pass by normal traffic? Which would also apply to double trailers on US roads to normal cars? Because they don't cause enough wind to to flip a car even this small and a train of say five trailers wouldn't flip a full size car like say a 1967 Cadillac.
even considering that it might no rain often in Australia, the hot sun is an issue on a car that has no roof. I ve been driving a fiat 124 spider convertible for 22 years, but I only kept the roof open in summer nights at low speed. On the highway I often closed the roof to be protected from sun and wind
I never heard about the Feber Autoroller. But the lack of success cannot be explained only with the opening for other cars, the "Messerschmidt Kabinenroller" was similar car and much more successfull
That is a german auto name which means Little Bug Car and is pronounced Cgho-cgho mobile. I had a friend whose father had a junk yard (oops I meant to say automotive parts recycling location) They had a used Gogomobile that they used to run around it looked remarkably newish but the right front fender was badly damaged and the cost of importing a new fender meant the car was totaled! I spent one afternoon with him throwing the Gogo around the lot, occasionaly clipping some of the wrecks. it had a gear selector that looked like a toggle switch growing out of the dash, with an outline of a 4speed tranny engraved behind it. You just clicked from one gear to another, ignoring the clutch pedal. I noticed that there was no position shown for neutral and was told that the clutch pedal was used for two purposes: 1-to replace neutral and 2- to get the little bugger going. I have driven several high performance autos including a D Jaguar and a coventry climax powered Lotus 11, but none came even close to as much fun as driving that little Gogo in the muddy junk yard! My friend passed away from Cancer a few months later, but I will never forget him and his funny Gogomobile.
Rotax has a long and successful history in small engines, ultralights, big lawn mowers that kind of thing. Now the fact that they built a car that made a MG look like an oldsmobile vista cruiser is another issue. Can you imagine after the bad closes trying put 3 adults in there? I know they say 2 but most vehicles should have a bit of an overload.
Seu animal, ele está falando que em 1980 a importação de veículos era proibido pelo governo, e que por causa disso hofstetter decidiu criar seu carro por conta propria, é dificil entender? Te falta neurônios?

"BEE-YOO-LEE-OO" LMAO!!!
As soon as I saw that word appear in advance of the commentary, I knew there was going to be a car crash (pun intended).
The Aurora Safety Car looks like an exotic bathtub on wheels lol.

Imagine you are driving a Goggomobil Dart in Australia Outback, then one Road Train drive beside you...
You get blown off of the road from a gust of wind from it.
@@RobertGuidry-f3f Which would be no different to any other car being passed at speed by a road train

With the first 2 cars, I think I'ld feel safer in a golf cart.
Autoroller did it right; two wheels up front and one in the rear, which provides stability in turns unlike the Robin.
The Aptera followed suit. Hopefully they can start producing cars to sell soon.
I remember a Popular Mechanics article from the 1950s. The windshield design was to shed water and not need a wiper.
The lightburn zeta is another fascinating car built by a washing machine company

That Aurora saftety car looks straight out of the portfolio of Luigi Colani, except it predecessed it.
The Aurora Safety Car, What in the world where they smoking at the time
Me thinks; Too much church-incense & communion-wine!
Whatever they were smoking it was one helluva drug lol!
The aurora is one the most interesting car stories of all time
The aurora is a key example of how innovation without aesthetics is a recipe for failure
Beaulieu… pronounced ‘Bew-lee’.
Designed to get 'looks'.
Just like me when I walk around with no pants.
It looks like it also could be a boat.😊

I NEED to know how much a Goggomobile costs, I REALLY want one
The dart looks like SpongeBob's boat 😂
Seatbelts were made standard on all 1956 fords
The Hofstetter turbo doors weren't just for show they also gave it a futuristic look ??? .....ffs
Microcar? We had gocarts bigger than that thing.
I doubt that
why not just get a casket from the funeral home and put wheels and a lawnmower motor in it.
My wife's uncle worked at the Goggomobile factory building the Dart
They are all complete heaps of s..t! 👍🏻🙂
Aurora, dream big and end up bankrupt.
Me thinks; Too much church-incense & communion-wine!
Me thinks; Too much church-incense & communion-wine went into the making of that Aurora!

Buckle did add small doors on the later models in an unsuccessful bid to increase sales!
