This was the only locomotive that did stall consistently. While the atlas GP 7/9 did initially, once they were broken in, this no longer happened. I have since tried to install DCC in one of these locomotives and was NOT impressed with the internals including wire that appeared to be exposed. I would love to double check that this was the only locomotive, Unfortunately, this was my Christmas layout that has since been disassembled.
    Thanks for watching!

Do your other trains go over the switch with out a pause or slow down? I have the same issue with one of my locos but my other 4 have no issue at all. I ask because I am interested in this specific loco but I do not want another disappointment.

I have had more than one issue with Atlas units new in the box. One I sent back to Atlas and they claimed that USPS destroyed it in transit after letting the box sit unopened in their posession for 6 weeks. So I was out $200 there. I just picked up another brand new Atlas N scale locomotive. this one DC, and it also doesn't work out of the box. Not sure what is up with their QC, or lack thereof, lately.

I have the A and the B units. The stock speakers are poor quality. I changed then with ESU ones ( perfect fit ) Big difference in sound quality.

Atlas had an FA-1years ago. Was first N Scale locomotive with a flywheel. This is based on the Life Like FA-1

Might want to clean your track before testing a loco with no keep alive installed.

I did end up cleaning the track during this test, unfortunately it didn't help much. I found that properly barking-in the locomotive got it to run more reliably. What seemed to be really holding this locomotive back was the fact that the motor was dragging and had a wine to it. Needing more current to spin was causing it to cut out more then it should have.
