Ah, very helpful, thank you very much!👏 A quick story: I have an adopted violin! Here is what happened, I was informed that a certain violin was about to be given away, so I decided that I would intervene, after all, what could I loose? So with a little charisma, a pinch of reasons, and a small bit of cash-on-the-spot, I was able to intercept this instrument. Then,...my mistake, I had it appraised, although it is indeed an 1860s instrument, when it was made, it was one of those things called "a violin shaped object". Anyways, I replaced the strings, shined it up, and had it restored, so I played it, all things considered, it does not sound that bad! Oh well, what can I say? I have a soft spot for violins, after all, hence the reason I learn to play!! 🎻
When you have a new teacher and you have already passed a grade 3 exam with a high score does your new teacher take you back right to the beginning? Does every teacher, teach a slightly different bow hold?
No, a new teacher should meet you at your level. That being said if there are some basics that need fixing, a teacher might decide with you to take a step back. Yes, some teachers come from different 'schools' and teach things like violin hold and bow hold slightly differently. Main difference would be Russian vs Franco-Belgian hold.
