- 2018 Aggieland Saturday band presentation of the War Hymn. We go to this event every year and absolutely love to hear this perfectly played melody.
The song itself embodies the tradition and spirit of Aggieland.

The FTAB, Texas’ national treasure.
They would be Texas’s pride but that goes to the fact that Texas is pretty much the Australia of the United States.

I'm 55 and a life-long Arkansas Razorback fan but I've always thought this was the greatest fight song in college sports. And Kyle Field is the top college football experience I have had.

These guys came to Clemson yesterday. The fans stayed for their halftime performance. Loved hearing and seeing them in person!! Great fans and band!
My mom went to both schools. The tiger rag is very different than this, but goes hard too.

Most people do not realize the emotions that the War Hymn engenders, even in those who are not Aggies (from a diehard TeaSipper who still loves the FTAB).
A song that proves that the Longhorns will be in your head......forever.

My dad is a Former Student class of ‘61. Still wears his Aggie Ring with pride. I learned the Aggie War Hymn at 5 years old.
Love the A&M band! Best college to go to an away game by far...War Damn Eagle!
Watch the 2014 halftime at Jordan Hare. After a few minutes I actually believe I can hear the the Auburn fans cheering the A&M band. A fabulous, talented, group of students!!!

I am a Syracuse orange gal, but I think college bands are Awesome. They work extremely hard and deserve more credit.
Can confirm. My daughter is a freshman in FTAB and Monday - Friday they rehearse from 0700 - 0840-ish. Then on the night before a home game (or an away game they're performing at) they're at Midnight Yell for a couple hours. Game day chews up another 4-5 hours. So in an average week they're putting in somewhere around 16 hours.

Yup, when I was at San Diego State, it was a week of Band camp, then 1:00 to 3pm MWF. Game day, we would arrive at the stadium at 3:00 pm for a 7:00 pm game for tailgating dinner and pre-game warm-up, post game(Fight Song and Alma Mater) around 10:30 pm. Lots of hard work, but oh so much Fun!
@@toddrf That’s pretty similar to my high school. Monday is 0700-0840 before school. Then 1800-2100 after school then we get Tuesday off. And have 0700 to 0840 rehearsals the rest of the week. We then have game day. Saturday is Either competition or a 8 hour workday. Our directors are really pushing for the state year. And I love doing it.
I would want to go to A&M but I have goals in aviation and that takes me to other places.
Ps definitely play as a hell of a wake up call every morning 😀

As a former marching band member(San Gabriel H.S.: GO Matadors, San Diego State: GO Aztecs), I love watching A&M, but I’m curious, why do some some members of the FTAB wear the brown boots, and others don’t? Thanks.
All band members are a part of the School's Corps of Cadets. Only the seniors can wear the brown boots!

Senior boots from Holick's goes back generations. They were still located in the little storefront on College Main Street back in the 80's. Now they've moved and expanded, and that section of College Main in Northgate has been closed to vehicular traffic, the better to accommodate the crowds of unruly drunk students on weekend nights during football season.
Only seniors in the Corps of Cadets get to wear the riding boots.
The next time the federal government tries to mess with Texas have the Aggie Cadets respond with the War Hymn ! That oughta do it !

Only in 7th grade and playing this. I play bass drums, and I'm in honor band. Might go to A&M lol
I Highly recommend it kiddo. Even us locals hold tons of pride here. And definitely try a snuffy burger at chicken oil co. Which is where I work at.
When my son was in high school we asked both TU graduates and A&M graduates who had graduated over 20 years ago...the Aggies didn't regret their decision but I can't say the same about TU. And yes, he's currently in his junior year as an Aggie! Gig'em!👍

Out of curiosity. Why do some have on boots and some have on shoes?
Antonio Futrelle from the time you are a freshman up until the end of your junior year in the corps, you must wear the standard issue Service shoes. Once you are a senior, you earn the boots. That's how you can tell the seniors from the younger cadets.

Antonio Futrelle Even though seniors earn the right to wear “senior boots” not all do. The boots are custom made for each senior at their cost by a particular bootmaker (Holicks In Bryan, Texas) and are made from the finest leather. Depending on variables the price of a pair can be upward to $1500.

Since y'all aren't ever gonna play Texas again unless you meet in some bowl, you might want to think about changing the lyrics to your War Hymn.

I must say, I come from the great spirit of troy area from SC; where the war hymn is a religion; however, A&M is comparable to the sentiment the hymn produces
At 0.25, the camera pans left and the trumpet player on the end seems to be wearing black boots. Never seen an Aggie senior wearing black boots. At first I thought it was just the lighting, but the senior next to him and all the other seniors are wearing obviously brown boots. Wondering if this is an option.
The trumpet player's are just very dark red/brown. A Senior can change the color of the boots (over time) by the color of creme they use to shine them. Most are a reddish brown, but you can get them darker or lighter by the shade of creme used.

Bill Neill have you ever heard tens of thousands of Aggies singing the war hymn? The USC fight song is good but nothing compares to the war hymn live at Kyle field.
