I grew up in Hartland and everyone in their right mind got out after high school...

Thanks for commenting! Of course you have me curious, what brought you away from Hartland?!

I am from there. A lot has changed since 1995. The community planners fought off commercialism interests for decades but eventually a lot of businesses moved in. All the new business additions really changed that M59 / US23 intersection into a hub. A lot of rural outlier roads were still not paved even into the 1990s. Hartland was strictly a bedroom community, people commuted into the metro area.
The eastern part of Hartland is more scenic towards Fenton. Western Harland is more former agricultural.
Rolling terrain, not like downriver Detroit that us pancake flat. Water in this part of county is very hard and rust like requires softening.
Lake living? property taxes were prohibitive of that or we would have had lake property as early as 1984.
Brighton and Howell used to be the place to go in the 1980s and 1990s for things of interest, yet a gradual move of population moved it over to Hartland.
My father was principial of the high school for over 5 years and would be proud of the academic prowess the school has become.
Mom helped start the Hartland Garden Club as she thought being a member of the Brighton Garden Club did not make sense living in Hartland..

Thanks for commenting! Looks like you’ve been here for a little longer than myself! Always fun to hear a little history on the area! We still have too many roads not paved hey?!

@@LivinginDetroitMi Lived there from 1984 - 1996 and moved to the southeastern US. Came back to visit in 2010 for the first time and could not believe my eyes at all the new stores at M59-US23 and new subdivisions. I think the added population to the community help with the balancing a new vision of the area schools and decision making process. When my father was principal there was a small enclave of opinionated zealots (non area qualified zealots) that tried to run the school system and the direction of the high school. Thus my father did not play the political game and still got 6 years in until he left in 1990 for Kalamazoo Public. Dad started the Academic Letter that Hartland still uses (I think), and oversaw the first million dollar budget the high school had ever carried. We built on Fieldview Trail about 1986 when it was a newer subdivision.

Oh for sure some big changes from that span of time! Fieldview trail, that’s one of my favorite neighborhoods that area. I’ve got a friend that lives on Fieldview and sold one around the corner on Blueberry Hill and another on Hartland Woods just to the north!

@@LivinginDetroitMi My Mom designed 1386, it still looks the same on the exterior tutor with gray trim and brick., interior is much different. It has changed owners several times now. I still have the plans. One thing about that sub, it was supposed to be regulated with certain designs being accepted. Soon many just plopped houses on Fieldview Trail. My Mom wanted to live on Blueberry but there was not a great selection of lots.

Certainly some interesting history! Your mom did a great job on the design there, cool looking house! There certainly is a lot more regulation now in the area with many HOAs

Timing can be personal and not just market driven. With the rates dropping from their peak in the fall, and the low inventory in Livingston county and more specifically Hartland schools, this first and second quarter is looking good for sellers!
