Illuminate could power up light based moves (Dazzling Gleam, Solar Beam, Flash Cannon, Signal Beam, Etc)

That's genius. And while they're at it working on light-based moves, GIVE HELIOLISK SUNNY DAY AND SOLAR BEAM.
And maybe it could even buff status light-based moves. So for example, Flash would be more powerful at -2 Accuracy, and Sunny Day could maybe give an Accuracy or Special Attack boost on the turn the move is used to itself and allies, and the user in singles. Tail Glow (which I don't think any Illuminate Pokemon gets anyway) could be given to a select group of Pokemon such as the Mareep line, and then maybe give a +1 boost to the Special Defense stat.

I actually think the way foo described it is nice - your def or spdef would rise depending the type of opponent's "dangerous" attack, so this would even give you a clue whether it's a specially or physically oriented mon.

Illuminate should function like bright powder, or lower opponent accuracy by one stage like intimidate

  • @Imperiused
    @Imperiused 5 років тому +45

For Anticipation: Making it activate whenever the opponent switches would improve this ability too. Often, that's when you really need this ability to activate. Say your opponent has a Raichu, you switch in Whishcash to take a Thunderbolt. You hit Dragon Dance, and your opponent switches into a Xatu. Were they expecting an Earthquake? Or does their Xatu carry Grass Knot/Solar Beam?
Another way to buff Anticipation is to change why it activates. Instead of activating with a OHKO or Super-Effective move, have it straight up reveal one damaging non-STAB move your opponent has. This could make it actually REALLY useful for scouting your opponent's coverage moves. In most cases you can assume your opponent is carrying at least one of their STABs, and detecting OHKO moves is just situational. Knowing coverage moves, on the other hand, is the difference between winning and losing sometimes.

      @eduvbs 5 років тому +1

@@Imperiused Yes maybe, but Forewan in my opinion deserves this buff instead. For example, it obvious that Zygarde carries Thousand Arrows, but it is Coil, Sub or Dragon Dance?

    • @extonjonas6820
      @extonjonas6820 5 років тому

I like your first suggestion, I think that it should totally work on every pokemon your opponent switches in but should also in my opinion tell what move it is. To use your example, it should tell you the xatu has solar beam. I dont like your second suggestion so much because it seems to strong, swapping in and learning your opponent move sets puts them at a real disadvantage. At least the other way, while strong, is much more limited.

  • @LucasF25
    @LucasF25 5 років тому +57

If anticipation told you what move it was, it would basically become "Forewarn". I think the best thing that would make more sense is that because it antecipates the enemy's supereffective move, it takes less damage from it. So if a Croagrunk anticipates a earthquake, even if it doesn't tell you what move it was, but reduced its damage because the pokemon is prepared for it, i think that'd be cool. Or even instead of reducing the damage, even raising the chance of that move missing the user of this ability. Either one would be pretty good!!

The exclusive ability of Silvally, RKS System.
In the games we learn that Silvally was created by following the myths of Arceus, so it would make sense if it's ability works exactly like Multitype. When Silvally helds a memory disc not only it changes its type, also provides a boost of 1,2x too the moves of that same type.
And just like Arceus this ability can work too by holding a Z-crystal.
Unrelated to the topic of the video but i came up with another buff for Silvally.
The aether foundation create this pokémon with the intention to hunt down ultra beasts. So what if that aspect of its lore its reflect in its signature move Multy-attack? Dealing extra damage to the pokémon clasified as Ultra Beats

Wonder Guard on Shedinja is cool but it really needs some work. Instead of "Supereffective moves only hit", it should be "Supereffective type moves only would take effect." For example, Shedinja can't be statused by moves such as Toxic or Thunder Wave but can still be Will-O-Wisped. And it is immune to weather such as Hail, but not to Sandstorm because it is technically a rock move. It would be immune to spikes/toxic spikes but it would still faint to stealth rocks. It can't even be swaggered because it is a normal move but it can confused by confuse ray. It would make Shedinja much better than its current version but would still have counters.

Illuminate could work either as a Compound eyes or as a No guard. Then, Starmie would be able to run Blizzard and Thunder more reliably and would have a perfectly accurate Hydro Pump. While deffensive Lanturn wouldn’t care, offensive ones would also benefit from the previous moves. Even Watchog might get a niche with a Hypnosis Swords dance set.
For Healer I agree with you, but I would increase the odds of healing status to like a 50% for both pokémon. Another option would be a 33% for the user and a 100% for the ally, thus making it an actually good doubles ability.
One of the weaknesses of pickpocket is that it can give you an item that you don’t want. I think that apart from being able to activate it with your own moves, there should be a chance of the enemy losing its item without you receiving it if you already have one, like a 20%. If you don’t have an item, you steal the enemy’s item with a 100% chance.
For Flower Veil I was thinking that if the user is alone, it only gets the status/stat reduction immunity (just 1, I don’t know which since the status one is better but the stat reduction one seems to step less on Comatose territory), but if you get a grass type partner for it in doubles, both get the 2 boosts.

Jolteon could get Motor Drive or Lightning Rod (the latter would be much more useful, but the former fits Jolteon's theme better), and Vaporeon could get Water Veil or Storm Drain. I was going to mention that your proposed illuminate buff wouldn't translate well in Japan because of Dark being Evil type but you mentioned that. Although, someone in the comment section mentioned raising accuracy. I'm all for that.
I think Pickpocket is fine. It's amazing and has great synergy with the aforementioned frail Pokemon. The only downside with that ability, in my opinion, is that it is only available to a few Pokemon. The one ability that *does* need a buff is Magician. It doesn't work like Pickpocket where you're able to steal the item during the turn you used your own. Makes no sense when Pickpocket does.
Healer should honestly just apply the same effect in singles where you have the same chance of healing a pokemon of status condition in your party while the Healer is out.
Your original thought on Flower Veil is fine, to be honest. There's only like 2 Pokemon that have it and said Pokemon aren't exactly turning heads. So applying that idea on single's for them sounds fine to me. However, some people in the comments theorize the reason it might not help the user is because the Pokemon that do have said ability aren't grass type. So, I think buffing the user's grass type moves sounds like a good addition; kind of like Dhelmise's Steelworker.

    - Honey gather: This ability sucks. Maybe make it so they can consume the honey item if they hit like 1/2 health or something, idk.
    - Keen eye: Add ignoring enemy evasion moves like Double Team.
    - Iron fist: 20% boost to 50% boost
    - Leaf Guard (or any "evade status moves in weather" abilities): These seem to be incredibly circumstantial. Maybe add a 20% def boost when activated or something
    - Plus/Minus: Arena trap on electric types in addition to effect
    - Pickup: Add the ability to pickup knocked off items (instead of just 1 time use items)
    - Power of Alchemy/Receiver: Change effect from just ally ability gain to any fainted Pokemon (ally or enemy)
    - Shell Armor: Def raise in addition to crit null
    - Solar power: Remove the HP drain. Seriously, it's so unnecessary. It's only a 50% boost.
    - Steadfast - Moves that cause flinch are nullified and speed is raised
    - Surge Surfer - Raise speed in electric terrain and/or when hit by water moves (cuz surfing).
    - Symbiosis - Change effect to all Pokemon, not just allies (So enemy receives item if they use theirs. It would be great with toxic/flame orb or choice items)
    - Telepathy - In addition to ally dodge, add +1 evasion (yes, I know evasion is annoying, but it's a crap ability in singles)
    - Tangled Feet - When a confusion move is used (psybeam, water pulse, confuse ray, etc), nullify move and boost speed.
    - Unnerve - Effect change from just berries to any one time use item and leftovers.
Some of these are probably OP, and I'm sure some of them still suck. This is just what I came up with.

Cursed body’s main problem is that its 2 main users, Froslass and Gengar, are too frail to receive hits. I have different ideas for it:
    - When they kill you, you apply Curse to them, making then lose 25% of the hp every turn starting from that turn. This would be a cool ability similar to Aftermath, but it probably strays too far from the original ability.
    - There’s a 10% chance at the end of every turn that the enemy (or enemies in doubles, 10% chance for each) that the last move they used dets disabled. The chance is lower from the original (the original Cursed body has 30% chance), but it can shut down stall with some luck.
    - Keeping it as it is, but increasing the odds of the disable happening in certain situations. One possibility would be if the enemy KOes the user, giving it like a 100% or similar. Another possibility would be increasing the odds to 50% if the enemy is locked into a move either by items or encore.

    Gamefreak hire this guy NOW!
awesome content, I agree with everything like 100%
the fact that Gamefreak still hasn't buffed Run Away with that effect imo speaks a lot about its total incompetence in some ways... it's so obvious!!!
btw I would really love other vids from you like this one :)
a similar topic would be "what pokes and moves could be buffed/nerfed and how" - some of my tips would be:
    1) giving regular Pidgeot Gale Wings (and also Gale Wings should work above 50% health, that's imo balanced enough and rather fun - priority Mirror Move, Featherdance, Roost or attacking moves would make you consider when to mega evolve)
    2) King's Shield causing just -1 Att - Aegislash is overpowered in many formats and imo needs a little nerf
    3) similarly Blaziken is overpowered and I think he should maybe get a version of Speed Boost that only raises its speed ONCE, max twice.
    4) Protect - one of my biggest issues currently, esp in Doubles. I think it there either need to be more attacks + an ability that bypass it or Protect needs to protect only against 100% HP, but any aditional damage goes through it. the rarer Detect - works like now. Protect is such a lazy, boring move in Doubles and there are almost no ways to punish it (except setting up and the rare and weak Feint)
    5) Thunder Wave should work just like Toxic - perfect accuracy for Electric mons (except I think both Toxic and Thunder Wave should stop working on mons using Dig/Dive/Fly... - it doesn't make sense)
    6) Forest Curse and Trick or Treat need to work like Soak, period.
    7) I think Silvally should be able to hold one memory and one additional item.
    8) imo rare signature moves should generally be always worth using! Submission could totally be a 130 BP move with like 90% accuracy, Toxic Thread could poison (or badly poison) and give -2 Spe (or work on both opponents), Fire Lash could be a 100 BP move with the same effect like now (seriously, give Heatmor something to work with!), etc.
    9) a minor one: the already overpowered Intimidate should stop working on foes using Dig/Dive/Fly/etc. like what the actual hell.
    10) Minimize is maybe the most ridiculous move in the game - I think it should either be banned from existence, or give you that +2 Evasion, but also at least like -1 to Def, SpDef and Att.
    11) Emergency Exit - I dunno if it would make Golisopod OP, but I always thought unlike Wimp Out EE should activate AT THE END OF THE TURN.

On topic of the proposed healer buff. In gen 1 games (and remakes) we had the pokeflute that when played woke up everyone, even pokémon that are in the back of the party. If not for your proposed buff, a cool thing for healer to do is to also be able to heal a status problem of a random pokémon you have in the back. There's allready moves that do this (aromatherapy, heal bell) so having an ability that has a similar effect isn't that much of a stretch.
Even better, you don't actually have to change the description of the ability, because the pokémon you have in the back are just as much your allies as any active pokémon that might be battling alongside the healer pokemon.
I imagine there might be a translation problem with my next suggestion, but maybe anticipation could reduce the accuracy of the move it scouted. When you anticipate you react to something that can happen in the future, so in the scenario of pokémon battling, if you can anticipate a move, you could more easely make a more evasive reaction. It would be a brightpowder effect against a single move.
Or another approach could be to brace yourself for impact, lowering damage taken from that move. So it would more or less function like the ability filter, but against 1 specific move from the pokémon that you scouted with anticipation.
Not really a fan of your suggested illuminate buff, mostly because of the translation issue. The current effect to use a bright light to repel wild pokemon is fitting, but there's other stuff to do with bright lights. You can blind pokémon with it and make it a permanent brightpowder effect in ability form, which is gonna catch the smogon ban before you can say sword & shield and would therefor defeat the purpose of buffing it to get it to see more use. But you can also use light as search lights, you can see your surroundings better if there is sufficiently lit. So maybe an effect like compoundeyes, that increases accuracy is an option or, if not for improving accuracy it could also be an effect that ignores your opponents evasion boosts. I know this type of buff also is irrelevant under smogon rules, but it's a buff in vgc doubles at least.
The flower veil ability has an easy buff. Keep the old effect that protects ally grass types but in addition, it also protects the user whenever grassy terrain is up. Pokemon are like wild animals that can be domesticated so it makes sense that when they create grassy fields those fields will also include wild flowers. grassy field -> wild flowers, wild flowers to make a flower veil, it just makes sense.
In fact, it makes so much sense that needing hail to create an aurora veil sounds ridiculous in comparison, yet somehow that's an actual thing.
    Anyways, as allways, great video.

    • @reddragonair3147
      @reddragonair3147 5 років тому

But Smogon doesn't own Pokemon, and the buff to Illuminate has little to do with their rules in competitive formats. Besides, there's always the AG metagame if nothing else. The buff should be concerned with not only making the Pokemon more viable, but also making sense with the Pokemon/ability's theme. So I think the Accuracy/Evasion idea would work fine. But as I've said to a few other commenters, what would be much more interesting and would still make perfect sense is if Illuminate could indeed be used as Dark-type insurance like Foo was saying. When looking at the Japanese translation of Evil-type, the concept would work as good light versus evil dark instead of in the physical sense. So moral light breaking through moral dark- or evil. It makes fine sense.

@@reddragonair3147 The Illuminate ability buff that is suggested by FooFoo comes from a cultural approach and it just so happens to be that cultural things don't allways translate well.
As the creator of the games is Japanese it has to make sense in Japanese at the very least, but you have to take into consideration all other cultures where they sell the game. Light vs evil? Not really a good match. It's good vs evil and light vs dark. The analogy you make is close, but is close good enough?
Someone can be good while operating in the dark after all.

    • @reddragonair3147
      @reddragonair3147 5 років тому

@@DJarr216 Sure, I see what you're saying and I after with you. But what I'm saying is that light would represent the most widely depicted incarnation of good. I think it would fit in well, because Pokemon has always used cultural stereotypes for monster, move, and ability inspiration. Sort of like how the Fairy type is a hodgepodge of different aspects from several different cultures. Fairies in Japanese culture aren't there same as fairies in old English culture, after all, but the English culture seems to take precedence for the type's effectiveness, weaknesses, and resistances. And it doesn't make sense for Xerneas, who comes from Norse mythology, to learn Moonblast, which is inspired by old English sprite mythology- but the move is still a relatively colony learned move along Fairy type Pokemon because all the cultures are blended together. This is one example of course, but do you get what I'm saying?

    • @reddragonair3147
      @reddragonair3147 5 років тому

And to add to this, not every culture depicts fairies or fairy-like creatures as sweet or good or innocent, but overall the Pokemon type itself represents the light, good, nature-loving fairies of English mythology- even though several of these Pokemon draw cultural inspiration from many different and even contrasting sources.

Funny enough, I made a list of buffed abilities.
For the abilities you mentionned, here's how I see it :
    1. Run away : U-turn, baton pass, volt switch and parting shot have +1 priority
    2. Illuminate : As long as the pokemon is on the field, opponents are like taunted (except for flash fire and keen eye pokemon)
    3. Pickpocket : Moves stealing or exchanging items are used with X1.5 speed (instead of priority which would be blocked by psychic terrain :)
    4. Healer : Healing wish, heal pulse and heal bell have+1 priority, restores ally's status condition with 50% chance at the end of the turn
    5. Flower veil : Aromatherapy, floral healing, flower shield, petal dance and petal blizzard have +1 priority
    6. Anticipation : if the ability activated, the first opponent attack will be avoided on the first turn (except if opposing move has over 100% accuracy, through compound eyes or no guard for instance)
Only a few of the abilities on my list give priority moves, it just so happened you chose those abilities !

Synchronize - can activate upon enemy switch ins/user switch ins not just on the turn it got statused. 50% chance on enemy switch ins or user switch ins. (not to make it too OP lol)
Pickpocket - activates on the same turn user loses held item or during attacks after held item is lost
Sticky hold - if user is attacked by a move like knock off or item stealing move they get afflicted with rocky helmet damage.
Quick feet - If afflicted by burn or toxic the user takes damage every other turn
Shed skin - 50% heal status
Damp - fire attacks do 25% less damage
Magma armor - water attacks no longer do super effective damage.
    steadfast - +2 speed
Inner Focus - flinching moves do 25% less damage
Flame body - Upon striking the foe with a contact move there is a 10% burn chance. Can stack with fire burn chance.
Pressure - raises PP usage by 3 if the enemy use same move known to the user.

Aside from abilities that are straight up detrimental (Truant, Slow Start, Defeatist), I think Honey Gather may be the single most useless ability in the game. Not only is it completely useless in battle, but even in-game, it doesn't serve much of a purpose. It gathers Honey..... that's it. And Honey's not even that great of an item to begin with. It only sells for 50, and its ability is exactly the same as the move Sweet Scent being used on the field (with Sweet Scent having the added benefit of not consuming anything.... and Combee even starts off with Sweet Scent). Now, in its debut generation, it did have the unique ability of being slathered on trees and having a chance of attracting Pokemon to catch. Not a very popular mechanic, granted, and one that never returned for future gens, but it was nevertheless SOMETHING that Honey could be useful for, and it helped that some Pokemon (such as Burmy and Munchlax) were exclusively available through its usage. Oh, but what's this? You can just BUY the damn Honey. Sure, it's exclusive to one location (Floaroma Meadow), but it's not as if that was a particularly difficult location to access, and it costs less than a Pokeball, so it can EASILY be bought in bulk.
What it comes down to is: Honey Gather is made horribly irrelevant AND redundant when the only not-so-good item it's used for is easily attainable via other means. Sure, you could argue that it's not used by many Pokemon anyway, and very weak ones at that, but still. Combee's a weak unevolved Pokemon, so maybe you could excuse it (though it IS permanent if it's a male). Then they made it a hidden ability for Teddiursa.... but okay, that's only while it's unevolved, it can be ignored, and while hidden abilities are typically something you need to go out of your way for, you can hardly expect them to be useful [cough]Delibird[cough]. THEN they give it to the Ribombee line.... yeah, by this point, I think they've spread it out enough that they could try to find just a BIT more usage for the thing. Anyway, I don't have any ideas for potential in-battle effects (maybe automatic Leftovers if it's not holding an item and/or holding Honey?). For in-game usage, though, maybe they should have it gather something besides just Honey. For instance, maybe there's a chance of acquiring a new item like Premium Honey or Royal Jelly, items which could sell for a lot of money and have some pretty good recovery effects in-battle. They could even do something like Pickup and have the chance of acquiring better items scale with the Pokemon's level. And of course, these items would be acquired exclusively through Honey Gather (or at least be EXTREMELY expensive on the market).

    • @foofootoo
      @foofootoo  5 років тому

Yeah this ability is increasingly redundant in game and has always been useless in battle... a buff is very much deserved!

I've got another one that came to mind. It's not as bad as Honey Gather, but I think Normalize could use a buff. It's nice that they gave it increased damage (to match up with Aerialite, Refrigerate, and Pixilate, which came about the generation before Normalize got that buff), but it's still a very gimmicky Ability, especially since having your offense restricted to ONE TYPE is far from ideal, more so when Normal's not that great of an offensive type. I especially find it odd that they gave it to Delcatty, of all Pokemon. Quite possibly the single worst stone-evolved Pokemon (and using a somewhat rare Moon Stone, no less), and they give it a crappy Ability that heavily restricts it's offensive options (ironic when its diverse movepool is one of the few things going for it) and, at best, lets it use a predictable gimmick for paralyzing Ground-types? At the very least, I think this Ability should have a built-in Scrappy (Ghost-types are NOT something you wanna deal with when Normal's your only attacking option, though granted, they did let Delcatty learn Foresight). Hell, give it a built-in Scrappy, Adaptability, and Compoundeyes, it's still not gonna be even remotely broken (especially when it's exclusive to a lackluster Pokemon like Delcatty).
Speaking of bizarre gen4 additions, Stall. I almost forgot this thing even existed, which really goes to show how fucking pointless it was. And again, why give an Ability that outright hinders a Pokemon to Sableye, a Pokemon that isn't even that great, with its best quality being its typing (and not even that seems like a very good excuse when Spiritomb debuted in the same generation as Stall)? Why couldn't they give it an attack boost like Analytic or something? Of course, Delcatty and Sableye still had their first Abilities as options, so it isn't all bad for them (and with the introduction of the Ability Capsule, they don't even have to worry about getting stuck with Normalize or Stall). Still, I can't help wondering what was the point of it all, introducing these Abilities to retroactively give to weak Pokemon introduced just a generation earlier, and then doing almost nothing with them afterwards.

Dark was just a mistranslation and kind of a low key censorship to not say some Pokémon were evil. They're dark not in terms of the element of darkness but dark as in underhanded tactics sort of speak that's why it's Evil type in japanese. They resort to attack that would generally be considered ill-intended or socially looked down upon like Sucker Punch, Thief, Snatch, Torment, Throat Chop, etc. My suggestion for Illuminate would be that it would function as if it had the held item Bright Powder and reduce accuracy for the opponent. Or make Illuminate boost the user/ally efficiency of flashing or light based attacks: such as Dazzling Gleam, Flash Cannon, Power Gem, Seed Flare, etc.
Edit: I wrote this when I had paused before he clarified the Evil type in japanese.

Even with the translation differences in mind, I still think it would make total sense for Illuminate to have the effects that Foo was talking about. In the case of the Evil type, it would be light versus dark morally, in which light breaks through dark and good conquers evil. And in the international translation- the Dark type- it would make sense on a more physical level, with light driving away darkness literally. I think that's a great idea, personally.
But that's not to say that the accuracy idea is bad. That's a great one too, and I think either could work. I just personally would love to see Illuminate work as a defense against Dark types, which have been repeatedly buffed to a ridiculous level over the past few generations.

An idea for Run Away: Maybe avoiding pursuit would be dependent on the mon outspeeding the opponent.
I think that would make sense.
    Other ability suggestions:
    - perhaps Slow Start could be tweaked a bit if the pokémon slowly regained its strength and speed instead of gaining it all at once.
    - maybe mummy would do 1/16 passive damage to non-ghost type pokemon that have this ability at the end of every turn?
    - Maybe suctions cups could prevent the opponent from switching itself or the mon with suctions cups out this turn if it is hit or hits with a physical attack, instead of the current effect.
    - Keen Eye could make it so that moves that don't miss (ie swift, aerial ace etc) have a higher crit chance or maybe even a straight damage buff
    - Stall could have an effect of increasing the power of the user's moves gradually for each turn that the user doesn't attack and then reset again after it attacks.
    - Big Pecks could, of course, increase the damage of beak-based moves, maybe to the effect of mega launcher i.e 50%, since there aren't that many.
-Power of Alchemy could work like this in singles: if the pokemon switches in after an ally has fainted, it has a 50% chance to gain its ability: it is alchemy and not science after all. Certain abilities can't be copied.
-Instead of its current effect, rattled could add weaknesses to bug, dark and ghost, but also increase the pokemon's attack power against these types.

That Run Away buff would be dope. And very fitting - the Pokémon is so good at running away, nothing can stop it.
It's a decent ability if you are searching for rare encounters but right now you will almost never have it in your party since only weak Pokémon get it (and Dodrio). But with a buff they could make some fast water or dark types that have a "hit-and-run" theme to them and decent stats.
Super specific doubles abilities also need a singles buff - especially since many Pokémon only have those types of ability which just sucks.
Anticipation could be a poor man's Disguise in that it halves the first direct damage a Pokémon takes in battle.
Damp needs a buff since Explosion and Self-Destruct are basically no longer used. It could reduce fire damage from all sources as if Water Sport was used once.
Stall is an actual hindrance and regular Sableye needs all the help it can get - so it should increase your damage as a trade-off for going always last.

*Run Away* : The pokemon is immune to effects that prevent switch out (Shadow Tag, binding effects, block and etc)
*Illuminate* : When the Pokémon enters the battle, it lowers the Sp. Attack of all adjacent opponents by one stage. Adrenaline Orb now activies with Illuminate too.
*Honey Gather* : The pokemon that is holding Honey can consume it or give to an ally to cure any status condition, it have 50% chance of collect Honey in battle and during Grassy Terrain it is boosted to 100%. Like Harvest if Honey is Knocked Off, it's impossible to collect more Honey.
    Others:
*Shield Dust* : Thousand Arrows properly fail if used against a target with Shield Dust that is a Flying type or is not touching ground.
*Stick Hold* : Knock Off no more receive damage boost like happen with Z-Crystals and Mega Stones, Spectral Thief cannot steal stat boosts from a Stick Hold target.
*Forecast* : It provide a Rock Type form to Castform in sandstorm, cannot be suppressed; Castform still in last form when the weather ends or is nullified by one more turn.
*Analytic* : It ll provide the damage boost if the Pokemon moves after the target (actually it requires move last that everyone).
*Anticipation* : I was thinking of Anticipation works when the enemie switch in too, but your idea is better than mine.
*Leaf Guard* : It cures and prevent any status condition and reduce damage by 15% during harsh sunlight.
*Pickpoket* : It boost damage of steal moves by 50%, Stick Hold ignore this boost.
*Slow Start* : Turns required reduced to 3 including the switch in.
*Truant* : The pokemon have 50% of execute the move in the turn of it is loafing around.
*Forewarn* : It now prioritize reveal a random no damage move from enemie, or a no STAB move, or a random enemie move in this order of check.
*Magician* : Bring back other Type Gems as exclusive item, the pokemon can use the Gem and steal the enemie item in same turn.
*Prankster* : Dark Types are no longer imunne to it, but the move that target a Dark Type have regular priority.

A good buff for Illuminate is raise accuracy like Compoudeyes, imagine Starmie using Hydro pump, Thunder and Blizzard

I like illuminate working like intimidate: dropping accuracy each time it receives a physical or special hit.
This was a great video, Foofy. I expect more next week...............or else.

Magma Armor : Doubles the power of fire-type moves and halves the power of ice-type moves used agaisnt this pokemon. It also prevents the pokemon from getting frozen.
    Plus/Minus -
Also boosts this pokemon and its allies special attack if there is an electric or steel type on the field.
    Forewarn -
Reduce the power of the opponent's strongest moves by 10%.
    Slow Start -
Everytime this pokemon enters the field, It's attack and speed is halved for 4 turns. Then it's attack and speed is boosted by 50% for 4 turns. (I originally made it 3 turns but decided it was too broken. You can just protect, do something else like setting up, protect and then you basically have a Dragon Dance boosted Regigigas by wasting only 1 turn)
    Emergency Exit -
This pokemon is switched out everytime it uses a priority move.
    Water Compaction -
Boosts this pokemon defense by 1 stage everytime it's hit by a water type move. Water immunity
    Corrosion -
This pokemon can hit Steel type with Poison type moves.
It can also poison the opponent even if :
    Steel type
    Poison type
    Immunity
    Magic Guard
    Pastel Veil
    Affected by Misty Terrain
    Affected by Safeguard
    Illuminate -
Boost the power of light-based moves by 30%
Aurora Beam, Solar Beam, Psybeam, Luster Purge, Signal Beam, Flash Cannon, Dazzling Gleam, Solar Blade, Photon Geyser
    Anger Point -
Increases this pokemon attack and special attack by 2 stage if it is hit by a super effective move

    Here are my personal changes:
Limber: Sleep immunity and can't lose Speed.
Honey Gather: While no item is held, heals 12.5% per turn.
Vital Spirit: Speed immunity and can't lose Attack.
Cute Charm: Also adds an effect such that gender doesn't matter for attraction.
Anger Point: An attack that does more than 75% than max HP will also activate this.
Illuminate: Resist Ghost and Dark moves (like thick fat).
Pressure: Triples the PP the target uses instead of doubles.
Damp: Prevents self destructive moves and resists Fire moves further.

I was hoping that Illuminate would act like Intimidate and instead of lowering the opposing Pokemon's Attack, it'll lower the Pokemon's Accuracy.
Also, it would be interesting for Heavy Metal to remove entry hazards upon entering the field, Light Metal to double the Pokemon's speed upon getting hit by a super effective move, Corrosion to be able to hit through Steel types, Klutz to boost the Pokemon's Attack and Special Attack upon the Pokemon losing a held item and Battle Armour to not only protects you from critical hits but also flinching.

A cool in-game buff for Illuminate would be that it also raises the possibility of finding higher level Pokémon or Pokémon that have evolved (ie rather than making it easier to find Tentacool, also raise possibility of finding Tentacruel) or increasing chance that wild Pokémon will carry an item (with more rare Pokémon getting more rare items).

Since defog is a move that decreases evasiveness, I think a brilliant application for an Illuminate buff would be to negate Defog, it would introduce a type of "spin blocker" trait to the omnipresent entry hazards removal.

I had that exact same idea in mind for Run Away! Another thing I had in mind may be a bit crazy- I want Unnerve to change from eliminating the use of berries to being a special variant of Intimidate. And here’s my reasoning: when you are doing a SOS chain, the pokemon is more likely to call for help if you have a pokemon with the ability Intimidate, Pressure, or Unnerve in your party. All of these names are synonyms to fear- therefore Unnerve should have an effect similar to Intimidate. Of course, eliminating berries can be helpful, but I think a special variant of Intimidate would be more useful. (Also, way too many pokemon have the ability Pressure, especially most legendaries, and giving this powerful effect to all those pokemon would be OP)

I love this idea foo. Do more videos where you recommend buffs. For a few examples, Slow start only works for 2 turns, defeatist works at 25% HP, Mist Ball and Luster Purge increase base power to 100, flame charge goes to 60 power, stat redistribution on certain pokes, Drives increase the power of all Genesects attacks by 20%, stuff like that.

Illuminate buff: While pokemon with this ability is on the field, Evasion bonuses are ignored (apply to all pokemon present on the field). The user is also immune to dark type moves.
Such buff would make this ability very handy in competitive play. Especially Starmie would love to use it, since Natural Cure and Analytic are not the best abilities for sweeping pokemon.
Flower Veil buff: Should be changed to prevent status and stat drops from any ally, not just grass type. If no ally is present, you are protecting yourself instead.
Corrosion buff: Should allow the user to hit steel type pokemon with poison type attacks (not just poison status).
Damp buff: Should prevent the use of all moves that inflict self-damage (recoil). Struggle and Life Orb are exceptions.
Anticipation buff: Should also prevent flinch from occuring (to itself and ally).
Defeatist change: Instead of halving attack and special attack, when the user has 50% or less HP its base Attack should be swaped with its Defense and it's sp. attack with sp.defense.
Emergency Exist change: Should instead make the user switch out IF the opponent's attack would make the user's HP drop below 50% HP BUT before the hit is done (so that other pokemon will take the damage instead). Would still work just once per battle.
Flower Gift change: Instead of attack bonus it should give defense bonus alongside sp.def.
Fur Coat debuff: In similar way to Fluffy and fire moves, the Fur Coat should make the user take doubled damage from water attacks.
Healer buff: In addition to current effect, if the user switch out, the pokemon that switch in will have HP healed by 25% and their status condition cured.
Heavy Metal buff: Sound based moves inflict steel type damage instead of their original type. All Steel attacks inflict 20% more damage.
Light Metal buff: Sound based moves inflict steel type damage instead of their original type and they do 50% more damage.
Honey Gather buff: Status moves used by this pokemon cannot miss. Has 30% chance to heal 25% of max HP after inflicting damage to the opponent.
Hydration buff: In addition to current effect the status moves becomes priorities during the rain.
Inner Focus buff: Prevent flinching to an ally as well.
Insomnia buff: If the user lower other pokemon stats, changes those affected pokemon abilities to Insomnia.
Vital Spirit buff: If the user stats are lowered by the opponent, the users speed increases by 2 stages.
Liquid Voice buff: In addition to current effect, increase water type damage by 20%.
Klutz buff: Upon entering the battle, the pokemon remove entry hazards on it's side of the field.

I think anticipation should say “___ shuttered!” and then they either
    A. Get to go first
    B. Dodge the first attack

I feel like Healer's buff would just make it a better Shed Skin. Instead I suggest it being able to heal anyone in your party instead of just allies. So in singles you can switch to the Pokemon with Healer if the Pokemon out gets a status effect and keep it out for a couple turns to try and cure them.

I’ve actually personally thought of the buff to run away myself. I thought that would’ve been a great idea, being able to switch out of binding moves and abilities

  • @MegaCrazyhand

Another important Pokemon that gets Healer is Chansey. Chansey actually has a great support movepool for doubles with moves like heal pulse, helping hand, and ally switch. The ability to heal itself and its partner of status without using a move slot would be amazing.
