With the $20,000 un-real "tax credit" (it applies if you make $360,000 or more), the can advertise that number, but for a normal person (the 63% of the population that makes less than $42,700 annually) it will cost $48,000+, just like the little Nissan (made in Indonesia BTW). The Japanese Govt. BANNED manufacture of EV's nearly two years ago. For POLLUTION REDUCTION!!!

I just googled it and I don’t see any evidence that Japan banned EVs. What is your source for this claim ? 🤔

I drive a Mitsubishi I-MIEV, its 12 years old, mostly in original condition, with the original battery pack, which is still 80% healthy, EVs in a lot of ways are better engineered than ICE by a long stretch. However, since cars and trucks are an emotional purchase, EV Transition will take longer to adopt. Nothing wrong with them, other than people's emotional state about them. GM needs to do better with EVs and this low cost offering is a step in the right direction.

How exactly do you quantify your statement that EVS are better engineered than Ice vehicles?

@@MJ100k ICE is very inefficient out of the 4 stoke cycles, only 1 makes any power, the rest are thermo and power losses, which EVs don't have. EVs don't need traditional transmissions as they produce power at any given time, unlike ICE which needs to rev in order to make power. From a stand point of Power/Torque production, EVs are hands down way better in every aspect. It's the batteries and the energy content that is the challenge - but its improving vastly as time goes on.

@@corradettimotorsports360 Batteries and energy content are where EVs lose to ICE. You can’t just take those away. They are part of the equation. When you add in infrastructure, time it takes to refuel, serviceability etc …. You’ll see that EVs are not superior to ICE vehicles. Yes the engine/motors are more efficient… But that’s only one piece of a much larger puzzle. That’s not an emotional statement. That’s quantifiable.

@@MJ100k With each passing year, the gap is vastly closing in terms of range and recharging, Polstar can get to 80% in 10 mins, give it a few more years and you'll see even more improvements, the technology is changing fast, much faster than ICE, which is very complex and having more and more issues ask automakers try and maximize power and efficiency, just as Toyota with their latest issues with the Tundra.

@@corradettimotorsports360 I’m glad you conceded that EVs are not superior at this time. Will they ever be superior ? Time will tell. You don’t get to brag about your diploma until after you’ve graduated, not before…. IMO Hybrids and plug in hybrids (without turbos) are the best vehicles. Toyota has a Hybrid RAV 4 with 450k miles on the original engine, trans and battery. There’s a Ford Escape hybrid with 700k miles. Whenever battery technology improves… PHEV all electric range and total range also goes up. PHEV will always be superior to EVs. But it doesn’t matter much what my opinion is…. Customers will decide what’s best for their specific needs. There is no inevitable transition to EVs… at least not in the US. We will drive what we want. We don’t even have the metric system… and people think they can force EVs ? HA! Not gonna happen. Here’s the future for the US automotive scene in a nutshell. There will be a mix of EVs, hybrids and ICE. People can pick what works best for them. Period.
