I made this cake and cut the recipe in half just to try it and it was so good guys! The cake and flat and moist. It had a really nice fresh strawberry flavor without being overly sweet. The buttercream was personally a little too sweet for me, so if you’re not a fan of very sweet things, I’d cut back on the powdered sugar a bit. The strawberry reduction was so yummy! It was sweet but not overly sweet and just the right amount of tart. Overall, a really good cake! Next time I make it, I’m gonna layer it with fresh strawberries in between

Because strawberries have anthocyanins, which is an antioxidant, it is recommended that one use baking powder only as a leavening..
Antioxidants are pH sensitive, so the color issues may be reduced by the acid content.

I made the frosting & went with making a homemade vanilla cake recipe using King Arthur's cake flour & made cupcakes.
Also added 8 drops of Lora Ann's Strawberry oil to this frosting along with the reduction & it was insane!
My older daughter said this was like eating a cupcake from a high-end gourmet cupcake shop, the frosting was that insanely good. The reduction was well worth it, don't skip this important step. Thank you for this.

I am making this cake right now, it’s in the fridge cooling. I have my buttercream frosting made and set aside along with the remaining reduction. So far what I have tasted (filled up nicely on the crumbs) is a really delicious and moist flavorful all cake. I have tried plenty recipes on UA-cam from How to cake it, to my preppy kitchen and even tasty. This by far has been the best and least disappointing attempt at making my family a homemade cake. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe. I have subscribed because this is the first recipe that I found on UA-cam that was not a flop.

It’s in the oven right now so I still don’t know how it tastes but I’ll keep y’all updated.
So I took it out the oven and it was moist and beautiful. I just didn’t add enough pink food coloring but other then that, my fan loved it. Thanks!

Made this. I weight all ingredients. Smelled amazing and it was soft when taken out of oven. Once I left in in fridge overnight the next day it was hard solid. I dont know why. I made a pumpkin cake and that was soft the next day. I bummed 😞 the smell did not stay either. .

    • @SugarGeekShow
      @SugarGeekShow  3 роки тому

Oh no! I’m so sorry this happened! That’s completely normal for it to firm up in the fridge because this cake has butter in it. My guess is that your pumpkin cake recipe was an oil-based cake instead. The butter firms up in the fridge, but if you leave it at room temperature for an hour or two, it will become soft again. Also- if you put an un-frosted cake in the fridge, it tends to dry out. I always wrap my cakes in plastic wrap and freeze them before decorating. Then after frosting it and serving it, I’ll store the cake in the fridge and will cover the cut part with a piece of plastic wrap to keep the cake from drying out. Hope this helps!

  • @TheSaray08

I made this cake yesterday!! But I had to make some modifications!!
I used 200 g or sugar for the cake bater instead of 284 g and it was perfect 👌🏼.
I also only added 2 tsp of sugar to the Strawberry reduction.
I did feel that I didn’t cook the reduction enough as it wasn’t the consistency of this video so I will do cook more in the future.
When I was mixing all the ingredients together the consistency of the batter was so thick like pizza dough that I started winging it lollll. Not sure why that happened. I started to add more strawberry reduction, milk, a little oil, and I used the egg yolks that I set aside. I did slowly until it wasn’t thick like pizza dough.
Andddd it came out great!! It was perfectly moist. Not super sweet or anything and it had a nice crumble to it!
For the icing I made a lemon cream cheese icing instead. I used 16 oz unsalted butter. 2 cream cheese packets, vanilla extract, lemon juice and powder sugar. I added sugar to taste.
The leftover strawberry reduction was drizzled on to every slice for that tart flavor and it was soooooo good!
    Will be making more again.

Thanks so much for your recipes, just a question please, after reading recipe instructions the only reason for not using the egg yolk is became it can change the colour to 'peach' - it the country I work in the egg yolks are a pale white/light YELLOW colour, is this still going to affect the colour? By the way your Marble Cake is heaven 💯

I made the cake it tasted good, but it didn't rise well, I did something wrong. My strawberry reduction sauce and buttercream frosting were perfect though.

My grandson has requested strawberry cake for his birthday. But he is allergic to eggs. I usually use Bob's Red Mill Egg Replacer. Do you think that would work ok? I really enjoy your recipes!

You should do this cake again , but use the hood strawberries you talked about so we could see it❤ is there something else you could use besides pink food coloring? The other strawberry cake recipes use jello and that has red dye in it too

Friendly tip, it was too hard to find the ingredient amounts on your website. The ingredient list was there but for the actual amounts of said ingredients I could only find on the description of this video and in the buttercream video.
