Olena Halushka - Russia is Creating a Hell on Earth in Ukraine, making Ukrainian Victory Essential

  • The approach to supporting Ukraine which Western leaders have been taking so far has been „as long as it takes“. The lack of a clearly defined end goal impacted the pace and scale of the assistance, as well as raised questions on its efficiency. It cannot last this way in the protracted war as Ukraine’s mobilisation potential and resources are shorter than Russia’s. Instead, a clear commitment of the West to aid Ukraine with „whatever it takes for a fast victory“ is the only way to return sustainable peace back to Europe.

      Yes re this episode being crucial for westerners to hear. Ru would have to be in quite a dire situation i guess, to give Ukr some nukes. This is very hard for me to imagine even if Ru does end up in a pretty dire situation. But Ukr had been very advanced in high tech aerospace industries, so maybe it can make its own if it wants to.

    • @18_rabbit
      @18_rabbit 18 днів тому

      precisely! best point i've seen in comments! It's that issuse that IS the biggest now, bcuz the mission-critical parts of high tech weapons the Ru use, have come from the West, including US co's, AFTER the start of the war. The parts are marked w/ numbers, so Ukr proved this! This is worse than stomach turning, and if i were rich, i'd be using my atty's to legally harangue and harass those co's leaders, owners, etc, and i'd try to sue them or hassle their boards, if they're publically traded. When a big country in an international legal busines order/system like the world got very comfortable in in past two decades, has a situation like today, it makes it difficult for the federal gvt to react in an accurate and balanced way. That means private citizens need to pick up any slack that that creates. That means advocating and haranguing gvt to stop those biz's from doing such trading w/ Ru. Same w/ oil deal for Ru, which is almost all going to India and China, but mostly India apparently. We cannot allow a country of 140M ppl whose income is about 650B, to hold the world hostage. It's nonsensical and it's absolutely creating the 'excess' inflation, ie the additional inflation that occurred on top of the inflation from first the supply chain issues, then Covid/monies etc, and then this war: This was some economists argue is possibly half of all the inflation that europe and north america have experienced. Normally US inflation is far tamer than our peer nations, but not this time. And that concerns me, bcuz it's a bad sign.

      Consider that the UK has minimal ties,yet we dip into our reserves for Ukraine...alongside our Swedish friends, we emptied our stocks of NLAWS...despite our political chaos we are with Ukraine, for as long as it takes...but you knew that already...😅😅

    • @18_rabbit
      @18_rabbit 18 днів тому

      @@eamonnclabby7067 well, minimal ties is sort of imprecise these days, bcuz the supply chains overall are so vast that even Ukr's formerly substantial production of industrial/commercial components, indirectly affects UK. What we learned due to Covid and other related factors apparently, even China's assistance in secret at first, to Ru, is apparently part of how and why supply chains were disrupted in the West. China has been the ultimate janus-faced (two faced) amoral operator, and their 'recompense' for that will hit them later (via economics). As for emptying NLAWS stocks, it's not really public info as to what that fact really means ultimately visavis defense capacity overall. And as this guest points out, the right weapons at the right times is far far less risky and cheaper for us in the west, than Ukr not being able to hold the line at least, bcuz ultimately if they are over run, then the total costs to the West will be somewhere on a range of truly massive all the way up to incomprehensibly expensive in every way imaginable. Ppl really are not grasping this concept. Each power station of size that Ukr loses is a massive hit to their economy for the entire next decade! 10 yrs to rebuild the one lost in 2nd biggest city Kharkiv three weeks ago. Stupidest single avoidable (presumably) hit if enough countries had gotten enough missile defense systems to Ukr in a timely way. I've closely followed current political and social affairs since i was a teen in the '80's and i've studied a lot more history than most well informed/educated ppl. We r way way too close to Fubar for comfort (fouled up beyond all recognition). This situation requires the J10 Nato members to rapidly prepare for various intervention scenarios visavis Ukr. There is no doubt about that! If we're not doing it quietly now, then we are insane and incompetently governed.

      yep! and many of us having been listening to related ideas for more than two years already, and writing our rep's and senators etc etc, to little avail !! Yes the american gvt has a lot on its plate now, to put it mildly. But the militaries of at least ten of the Nato countries are the lead nations in Nato, called the J10. These countries can possibly mount a coalition operation to assist Ukr if Ru does not stop this increasing assault on truely crucial infrastructure that they destroyed recently, namely one plant in Kharkiv, and to some extent another plant in Kiev. The increasing targeting of Odesa and nearby is also extremely damaging and problematic for Ukr, and so many of us having been persistently explaining to american leaders (and others have been explaining to european leaders) that if we cannot stop approx this level of damage level, then the situation can pretty quickly become untenable for Ukr's military, and that is unacceptable to us in the West, who at this point do have an obligation to secure at least what Ukr consists of at the moment. Many of us in the months before the invasion knew that the prior fiveish years had showed american passivity or weakness, namely when Trump got the US military out of Black Sea instantly the moment Ru fired upon Ukrainian naval ships near the Kerch strait, before the bridge was built. So, yeah Trump started the weak impression, and Ru knew exactly what sort of political vulnerabilities the US had, particularly maybe after Jan 6th. Anyway, part of the real problem now is that the delays in getting the right equipment to Ukr has cost some of the best Ukr soldiers and officers their lives. These ppl were the bravest, often well educated members of Ukr society. Many were the top of the brightest and most creative. (whereas weak-willed and cowardly very able-bodied young men left or didn't return to Ukr when the war started. So, when Ukr says its losing its best, most of us don't grasp how profoundly true that is!!!) We need to get truely capable weapons and any know-how or intell we have, into Ukr hands. And if that does't work, then a coalition needs to start rapidly planning direct assistance to Ukr, if Ukr wants it. This is life, whether we like it or not.

I must ask, though, why Europe in general chose to not take large steps to " close the skies " in the beginning, as Pres. Zelensky pled. The Ukranians have always known what they needed and what Russia intended. I can't help thinking that the west is soft and spoiled, thus a perfect victim for predators.

      Maybe because that would have meant WW3? Quite simply We are closer to The Russian Nazi state than the USA is. And so minds were focussed on not escalating the conflict. Whether this was right or wrong the history books will tell. What is not at doubt is that the shitty MAGA wing of republican politics is frankly in a love in with tyrants and so has sold Ukraine down the river.

    • @18_rabbit
      @18_rabbit 18 днів тому

      @@Ari3870 lol. I get your sentiment but u dn't seem to have been paying close attention these two yrs. Actually europe, namely UK initially (before the US, ie each step-up was initiated by UK, and the US (my country) followed) did disproportionately a massive amount of assistance to Ukr; and it has no ability by itself to close the skies, which means actual engagement procdures & possibly fire-fight actions w/ Ru. It takes the whole group, the J10 of Nato, to get something like that done. The US obviously did not believe it was wise to do that actual military engagement with Ru during the early phase of the war. One thing we know is that the US didn't understand the performance abilities of the Ru military. But there's also the entire world's geostrategic situations to consider, namely Taiwan, which historically the US has been intending to militarily defend against any attacks by China. As for what it can do today, i dn't know, bcuz the Chinese military is far far more capable than not long ago. So, yeah the euro politicians need to create policies together for defense and for Ukr policy. But most of them, even the german leadership, is mostly quite decent in quality, albeit germany made gaffs earlier, i.e one of its ministers did. Not an easy situation for europe. But together, Nato or the J10 members of it, have to make plans for potential coalition creation for future military intervention assitance for Ukr. Bcuz Ru may go all in at some point and try to actually go fully into eastern Ukr including Kyiv in order to cull all the democrat and other civic leaders, so they can try to recreate their fantasy of 'little russians', ie comliant docile subserviant peasants or undereducated folks. Ru's stated desires are plainly genocidal. Nato has a massive interest in preventing that. It's practical to do so, even if it means using our air and naval power.

    Zero emotional reflection or empathy is needed to arrive at these conclusions too, the strategies of appeasement and constant one sided de-escalation combined with half hearted efforts and timidity are so obviously going to maximise costs and minimize profits on a cultural/societal scale. It is truly baffling how inept the elites of the western world has become, their only saving grace is that they aren't actively cruel and generally can be trusted to keep agreements, though UK and US failure to uphold the spirit of the Budapest memorandum has put a serious crack in that too.

      I only know who has used nuclear bombs so far.

      2007 - Putin, speaking in Munich, accuses the West of unleashing wars, organizing color revolutions, and destroying the world order.
      2008 - The West launched a war against Russia, killing 79 Russian peacekeepers in South Ossetia.
      2014 - The West organized a coup in Ukraine, brought the Nazi junta to power there, began to destroy the Russian-speaking majority in Ukraine and arm Ukraine, preparing it for an attack on Russia.
      2007-2022 - The West is trying to sway protests in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, trying to carry out coups in these three countries.
      2022 - The Bandera junta attacks the independent republics of Donbass and starts a war. 8 days later, Russia invades Ukraine and begins an operation to protect the republics of Donbass.
      2024 - Russia liberates the Russian lands of Ukraine from Nazi occupiers, the standard of living in Russia is high, the standard of living in the West has collapsed, the whole world is on Russia's side against the West.
