Finding the BEST BOULDERS in Northumberland

- Our trip to explore the County had every season of weather over a couple of days: baking sun, pouring rain, and everything in between! When the weather and rock allowed, we managed to explore the bullet-hard sandstone of Kyloe and ducked into Bowden Doors before the rain came to add some more 7th Grade classics to the list!

I really like that last climb. The tension you need to maintain to get through that middlemove, really sweet. I love it when the setters give it and this one is just out there.
I climbed at Kyloe in the Woods back in the mid 2000s and the forest was right up to the rock. Everything was damp and grungy both times I went despite minimal rain the week before.
Just wanted to say that I'm currently listening to your commentary on the IFSC climbing and it's great and I hope you'll be doing it again. I know nothing about climbing but your geeking out is fabulous. (If there's somewhere more appropriate to comment, please let me know!) Thank you.
Oh, absolutely the same. Know nothing and really enjoy watching with your engaging and super knowledgeable commentary!
Thank you so much! I cannot wait to get back behind the mic with @mattgroom5179 and @sportclimbing!
Such an inspiring and fantastic video!!
The figure 4 sit start is so coool
Thanks! I thought so too!
'Glory hole' is my new favourite term for a nice pocket
Loved that, particularly as a Mum and ex climber wish I’d kept it up!
Wellcome to The County, hope you enjoyed your trip.
Enjoyed this, lovely vibe... Shauna a natural for longer form climbing content. You gotta take a listen to your audio mix tho... I'm cranking it up to hear Shauna, then crashing it down when the music kicks in, kinda ruins it.
Noted! Thanks for the feedback!
Love the video! The background music is crazy good!
Thanks so much!
"is that allowed?", why wouldn't it be allowed, especially when it's a cool move like that?
Yessssss climbing vlog

I'm assuming Northern Soul will be in the next video....?
I believe ‘the county’ comes from it being previously regarded to as the quiet county
Geoffrey Winthrop Young who described the region in the foreword of the first Northumberland Climbing Guide (1950):
‘There is no nobler county than that of Northumberland, as it rolls processionally northward to the [Scottish] Border in great waves of coloured and historic moorland, cresting upon the skyline into sudden and surprising crags, which crown for us the magnificent walking and admirable rock climbs’.
Fun video but a typo on the Nadser grade (it's not the UKC 7B+ grade either, bloody great problem tho)...
edit, I see that's covered in the interview with the wee bairn.
Does anyone know the brand of the dungarees Frankie is wearing? 😍
Myself and a friend were going to go here for our first outdoor climb a few weeks ago but there were thunderstorms all weekend 😞 is this a good place for beginner routes? (We usually are at 6b at the gym)
Kyloe tends to be a pretty stiff crag so maybe not the best for your first outing. But Bowden is a great place to start there's loads for everyone and some classics at that grade!
@@harrymitchell6291 cheers I'll have a look :)
anyone know the song which is playing at the start of the HitchHikers Climb?
Daisy by Ashnikko xox
anybody know the song starts at 0:27 ?
Surely something at Callerhues has to be in.
We were dogged by massively mixed weather on the trip there. If we had A LOT longer and a good run of conditions it would have been amazing to explore further but at least there is a lot to come back to!
@@ShaunaCoxseyClimberto be fair it was raining both times when I visited the county so no luck here either.
Is that allowed 😂
still dont get why you retired at 30 is that considered too old to compete
It's up to the athlete when they want to retire, simple as that.
Jain Kim just won Gold in Chamonix at 34 years old.
In surfing, Kelly Slater won the Pipe Pro at 50 years old - while Mick Fanning retired at 36 years old.
She was plagued with a lot of injuries that were probably exhausting to keep getting treated and rehabed back to a competition fitness level.
