Yeah nah. Ive been going to butler tech for a 8 month class and we’ve already had 3 different instructors quit because they found better welding jobs. One even became a CWI for a company. We now have to deal with the person who hires the instructors, as our instructor and knows absolutely nothing about welding. We have no choice but to teach ourselves and rely on our classmates who also have no idea what they’re doing 80% of the time.
Im having the same issue atm, my teacher is rarely present and when he is he don't show or teach me really much of anything, thank god for UA-cam lol@@olli.1717
I love every second of this video. The story you gave of the two students takes me back to the tortoise and the hare. Humble beginnings takes you a long way in life. Just like constructing a building. Never rush through the foundation!
I have just started learning tig welding myself, in school. 4 weeks in, and it is clear that patience is the most important factor. The calm and patient students, learn much quicker than the impatient students
Great video to those wanting to learn TIG welding, like me. Both motivating and informative. I’m psyched to start learning. Thank for making and uploading!
I introduced tig welding machine to my friend (he's a tattoo artist, never weld before) and he did a single pass way nicer than me (who's actually on tig welding for 5 years now). That day was the day i realized, tattooing and welding share the same basic foundation. Now, i'm both tig welder and tattoo artist 🤣
Thank you for your time. I am attending school for Walding. Teacher told me today I will start learning how to tig welding I’m pretty excited. I’m new to this game. Look forward getting a good career with this
As a tradesman myself i never did Tig, only Arc and Mig. Working in Hydraulics i really want to present my work to the customer with beautiful consistent tig welded fittings and fixtures on cylinders etc. Cant wait to get a proper machine and learn, your videos being extremely helpful.
I started a year or two ago and self taught myself most of what I know... So all thanks to you I am super stoked to wipe my mind of all the bad habits I figured out and start from day one again ! The main thing I dig about your teaching style is IT MAKES SENSE ! So off I go to my first day of tig welding... again... Thanks dude , seriously !
Been doing refrigeration for the past 6 years and now have the duty of fabbing small jobs at our plant, loving your vids to help me out. Appreciate these
First tig welder arrived Monday, watching for a few weeks and your work is great. The starter approach you have is amazing and if I hit snags you’ve sold me on where to go for training. Keep that attitude it’s like talking to a buddy, peace
Thanks for that I have arc welded for 30 years and gas welding. I decided to invest in a tig welder to learn myself and your u tube video is very good and has shown me what I am doing wrong I will try out your tips very good video and helpful
Thanks Dusty. This video is most useful and right on the money. I started learning to TIG (UA-cam taught) about a month ago and Im now heading back for some remedial work.
I send anyone who wants to learn the art of TIG welding to your channel. I don't have the time to personally instruct people and there is no one on the web who does a better job of showing and informing people who wish to learn than this guy. I am not new to the trade with 30 years of welding experience, had more welding qualifications than I can list with 9 of those years having been a CWI/CWE. He has taught and explained things you will never learn in a tech school class. The best on the web don't settle for anything less. Like and subscribe this man deserves it!
Jeeez laweeeeeze what a rad comment. I really appreciate this message. Thank you so much for checking out what I do, not only do I aim to help people get going with support I wish I had when I first started, but I'm still learning myself. I bet there's many things I could learn from you as well! Thank you so much for helping me grow what I am doing here, I really appreciate it🤙🙏
I'm 32 from Holland and just found out that Tig welding is something I should have started with many years ago. Instant love there. Had my first day today at welding school, but it is totally different kind of lesson than this. Immediately using filler material and every joints. 😅
This explains why there's a lot of people who say they can weld but don't know how with out professional training this explains the utube welder wannabe take a real class hands on teaching
Your positivity is infectious 🙏 trying to learn myself and all of your videos have helped every question I have had trying to learn aluminum but your attitude and affirmation is outstanding 💯💯👏👏🙏
such informative vids. thanks. 20 years ago i took a temporary full time job at a place that repaired food grade commercial stainless steel equi[pment. they lost ther head welder so i stepped up to try tig welding for the first time ever. 5 minutes of training and they put me on a big job and a $3 an hour raise. did great the rest of that job and just recently bought an el cheapo tig welder and trying to reteach myself, mainly on atv frames. apparently i forgot all of what i learned 20 years ago. your vids are helping tremendously. thank you so much
I have autism.. and my dad is really good welding in tig and mig. He has been doing it for 30 years.. I first did mig on my own.. I just needed to watch how he did it, how he set it up for the steel and when he wasn't home I went to the shed and did it and he said it was really good.. So I said I think I can do tig.. he said I don't think you can its really hard to learn it really good.. I said all I need is for you to tell me how to set it up and show me 1 line.. so he did.. then said lets see if you can do it now.. So I did and he said wow.. i have teached people that know how to weld with mig and are really good with welding mig but your welding with tig is better then theres.. I was really happy :)
Hey, Been watching your channel for a couple of years and love your method of instruction. I am a high school welding instructor in Washington State and and am always looking for ways to be able to teach kids while keeping them excited and give them a good foundation. Keep up the good work and if your ever around the other vancouver area I would love for you come talk with the kids.
Ive just became one of your online students to the channel.and been watching this vid back to back now.. i have zero to no experience and my welds looks worser then the other student who walked into the other booth with his stuff .... ive had my tig machine for over 5 years now and still dont have this puddle thing down pack....... ive been looking for a hands on teacher for awhile now.... was even willing to pay someone who can teach me the things your talking about in this vid...
I work as a Rv tech in Alberta. and we have aluminum hot water tanks that freeze and split all the time! I’m interested in Learning how to Tig weld and buy a welder so that I can repair the tanks myself. I’m hoping to continue learning off your UA-cam channel
I just enrolled today. I’m about three weeks in at this point. I did the Tim Welds course and while very basic it’s, Been a big help. It’s not going to be easy but I’m going to force myself to go back to square one and not skip a single exercise.
Wow this is by far the best video for learn tig 100% I've watched to many to count but your right way to much knowledge out there to scare people you've managed to break it down so simple I bet your pass rate is 100% I'm subscribed and notifications are on all I'm staying here thank you for this bro seriously everyone has love for someone willing to teach the way you do big love bro thank you x
Thanks Dusty, it really helps how you give a way to diagnosis problems instead of just some guy in a video saying how he does something. I was having some issues welding cast aluminum, and almost gave up until I went through some basics... Did I have a gas leak... no, did I have my setting correct, no, my tungsten was deforming, so I moved to a bigger tungsten and increased the frequency and changed the balance and fixed that. I still had issues, so I did some research on what rod to use. I was using ER5356, and simply tried 4043 and it worked.
Experimenting and troubleshooting yourself is absolutely some of the best ways to learn. Great job on figuring out a solution! I really appreciate your kind words and really appreciate you checking out the episode. Thank you and have a great weekend!🔥
Hi Dusty, Jose from Puerto Rico. I subscribed to your channel months ago and I really like the way you teach. I'm 66 years old and retired, but still have that hunger to learn like the student you described on this video. As soon as I get my finances in order, I will purchase your TIG course. I bought a Fronius TransSteel 2200 welder and practicing FCAW. But TIG is something I'd love to learn. I'm a total beginner in welding. Let's see how it goes.
Hey my friend! CONGRATS on getting a badass machine! I love the Fronius stuff, and their team is full of great people as well. Id love to help you however I can, thank you so much for watching the episode here today!
Just started learning TIG yesterday and mistakenly put the machine on AC instead of DC, switched it shocked myself like 10 times. Accidentally stuck the filler rod through my jacket and shirt into my stomach, but my beads are looking decent 😂 I’m having a lot of fun learning to weld, so much goes into it and my ADHD ass loves it.
This is required watching. And as someone who has made every mistake in the book much of what you said is so true, Dusty. I also feel that learning or being self taught while harsh (trust me) when starting out is a great way to learn as well. Why. Because after making all the mistakes then re-watching these videos they make far more sense. I can TIG weld thin metal and pie cuts now but after a very long apprenticeship of ineptness, self-embarrassment and watching the same videos over and over and more practise. Other key's are comfort (body and hand position) and lighting. And PREP! So so critical. If you have a gap between 2 parts.... it will be a holy event! Cut! Finish! Clean! Then weld. You cannot short cut on TIG. And keep watching Pacific Arc Tig Welding.
Larry this is so cool! I really appreciate you checking out what I am doing here, thank you so much for watching the episodes. Happy to have you aboard!🤙🔥
@@alexmyers7967 Goong well and I would recommend the course. Well laid out and for a beginner it is a great way to get going. I was practicing well the first 5-6 weeks. Then got busy with other projects. About to jump back in and get more practice time now.
Great stuff! Thx for sharing! 🤙🏼✨ Reminds me if an old episode of M.A.S.H. where they catch a guy pretending to be a doctor. They threaten to turn him in, but he agrees to stop it with pretending to be a doctor, but I think he just switched professions and became a dentist or a priest instead. 😂
