Just finished the 500 mile break in on my 2024 3LT z51 Rapid Blue Coupe, and it's everything I could've asked for. Barely, and I mean barely, let her rip and the acceleration is fantastic. Looking forward to really seeing what the car can do in the coming months and years. I think GM hit a home run.
For $175K (ish) it looks like a supercar. The BMW, Lexus and Audi don't. So, a supercar at a much more affordable price - it will sell well, I'm sure. Great review!
I live in the U.S. and have had my C8 for 6 months and love it. I ordered the hard top convertible($7,500USD). It goes up and down in 16 seconds and saves storage space in the rear of the car in case you want the top down while taking a long trip. The convertible also has a nicer look,in my opinion. I have the 2LT with the GT2 seats. The competition seats are not very comfortable for long trips. I opted also for the magnetic ride control which makes for a very comfortable ride.
Nice trip down memory lane Matt. Living in Springwood meant many trips up and down the Richmond/Springwood road (can’t remember its proper name now. I hope you punted it out along the Bells Line of Road also. Much fun had in my Saab Aeros - and they were convertibles. After watching you have some fun, i still go down the Porsche Boxster/BMW 440i/M4 convertible path. Lloyd

Great review, and the inclusions on this car should absolutely be superb because the cost is extraordinarily high. Fuel costs have just gone up so the cost of driving this car will be high, albeit if you have the money to squander on such a car fuel costs won’t worry you I guess. A fairly lousy internal screen that does look a generation old. But great fun to drive and a beautiful design, it’s a pity the quality of internal finish is lousy for the price paid. I’d take your advice about the seats, and would once have loved to drive, if not own, a car like this. Driving the V8 would be fun, but listening on the outside not sure. The guy across the road from me has an old V8 Commodore SS, it’s far. too noisy on start up. The warranty is lousy, service costs likely high. You’d need to want it! Great review, interesting as always! Thanks.
@@2024hekyeah No shit. My comment was simply based on what was suggested as an alternative from the BMW group, where the inline 6 got a mention, hence why I suggested the car they produce with a V-8. Make sense now?
Hemmings just put out some disturbing news, 4 years of the C8 being in production, the C7 is actually holding better value now than the C8....48% resale value, they're finding them on used car lots now... not good.
Nobody likes the competition seats with the mid level GT2 seats the most popular. And the steering wheel should be leather for a couple of reasons. I love the base model C8 silver wheels and don't like any type of all black wheels in the slightest. If I wanted to buy a sports car the supra 3.0 would still be my pick. 😎🇦🇺
Dude high speed autonomous emergency braking is not a good thing I've experienced it in other cars at 60 k's an hour which is not high speed granted but it suddenly came on and for no good reason luckily there was no stupid truck driver behind me Chevrolet knows what it's doing

Thanks mate! Yeah, some terrific roads up in the mountains. I’m lucky enough to call the area home.
A midship V8 supercar form factor for $170K?
It is a miracle.
Ohh man. That's expensive for a base c8. They are like 78k now in the states.
i can only buy the chev coz i cant afford the lamhoo, this is the closer option

I never understood why someone would sprint for the 3LT interior and then get everything in boring monochromatic gray.
I know those aren't US prices that you're quoting. If so, you're paying way over MSRP?
Yea, a lot of taxes
I'd pick the Lexus.
I’d support your decision.
M5 perhaps? As it does have a V-8, with similar performance, plus it will easily do all the family stuff.
Yeah good point. Or the i5, if you want it to be future.
This is a mid engine car. It's not the same performance as M5. This is a different animal that will eat M5 on the street and track

Make sure to clear the garage and buy a hoist and some tools to do repairs.
