Corvette C8 Stingray values are down by an average of 12.9%, cars are selling slower and slower, and discounts rates increased even though it is the summer. The Z06 dropped by 31.9% and that this drop basically reflects the deflation of price premiums.

A moment for silence for guys who paid $30K over sticker for a 1LT Stingray…
Knew a dealership that was 52k above in Cali MSRP. Needless to say I didn't buy from him. Went out of state to get mine
Na, they were dumb enough to pay it. A fool and his money are soon parted.
"F"
But they were the first to have a mass produced Chevrolet! Imagine how many of their neighbors were impressed or envious!
Facts
For anyone who purchased a new C8 at or below MSRP the prices have remained very stable. Paying over MSRP is never a good idea and hopefully those who did will learn their lesson.
I paid 1k under msrp for mine 1lt
I paid 7k under msrp last month for my 2lt
@@frandelgado1993 nice! I got $6k under on a 1LT HTC. My biggest challenge was finding one with only performance exhaust which is all I wanted with options. This one had that and upgraded rims for $2k. More than happy with it!
FYI-I was going to purchase a white 2lt for $7k off but it sold lol!
@@frandelgado1993and right now is usually not the best time to buy. Prices do drop at the end of the year when spending slows down.
I am in MI Fall then Winter around the corner I waiting till Next April-May.
I just picked up a new 2024 Corvette 1LT Z51 for $77K. When I tried to get it in 2022 the dealership tried to charge me over $100K which made me back out of the deal. I’m glad I waited. I’m not too worried about the depreciation, if I can sell the car in 3 years around $45K I’ll be happy.
Congrats on the new car 🎉
in 3 years your car will be work mid $50k. Look at 2020-2021 used Market value on C8 1LTs.
@@moonman_8935nah they would never put a C8 under high-mid 60k no matter the mileage, even if it was a salvage title lol
Hoping things drop for the Z06 as well once the ZR1 comes out.
I'd recommend selling before its warranty expires.
After doing a nationwide search, it's still hard to find used C8s for under $60k... even 2020s. Which is lame considering you can find new 1LTs for $65k now.
What state are you in?
Here in Texas you can't find a new C8 for 65k.
i think this is due to the increase in msrp over the years like what is happening to the g80 m3, i think we will see big changes this winter.
No one wants a 1lt, that's why they're the most common on availability. Dealerships order them that way to draw folks in, and to give that particular dealer a better chance to increase their chances to get more Vettes to sell in the future. Believe it or not, dealers are only allow to request a certain number of Vettes. Some have to sell 1 before they're allowed to be allocated another to put on the lot.
That of course varies, depending on past sales. Some are allowed hundreds .... and some only a slim few a year.
@@danielfair4675 That's not true imo, sure its the least ordered trim (only 26% of total) but a lot of people just want to get into the cheapest c8 possible. Especially when the whole draw of the C8 is "best new performance car for the price." Me personally, I prefer a 2lt or 3lt but I still think the demand for 1lts is there and statistically it's going to depreciate the least because the higher MSRP cars are going to hold it up.
This week I just picked up a new 24 3lt Z51 for $7600 BELOW MSRP.
Z06 is going to get bit at some point as well, there are hundreds of them for sale across the United States and dealers still think they'll sell them at well above MSRP but the data is starting to say no.
Did you see the Z06 price trend in the video 🙊?

@@fourwheeltraderI rather buy a Lamborghini or R8
It’s going on five model years. Everybody that wants one and can afford to buy one has had the opportunity to do so.
As someone who wants to own a C8. I see this as a win!
Almost my time to buy super excited to get one
All the C8 will continue to fall due to high production volume
Which is common for vettes. I see them everywhere 😂😂
Finally it's getting back to afordable prices 😂 looking forward to getting mine on the cheap!
Set aside $20,000 for needed repairs after the warranty expires.
@@davepaturno4290what do you mean by that? Aren’t they cars pretty reliable at least that’s what the videos I’ve been watching have been telling me
@humayon916 I recommend that you take a look at the corvetteforum in the C8 General section. There's a folder of issues that includes thousands of posts regarding failed transmissions, convertible hardtop mechanism failures, quality issues, etc, etc. Hopefully, the Quality department is resolving them, but as a former owner of a 2001 for 13 years, I found that issues I experienced within a couple of years would come back again and again. This meant that the root causes were never fixed. GM and complicated electronics don't mix, but often, it is external companies that are to blame. Our Lexus hybrid is approaching 20 years of age, yet it has never had an issue. My Miata is 16 years old, and the only thing that has failed was its original thermostat. Really, though, I love the performance of modern Corvettes, but I fear their inevitable "issues".
This happens because people an dishonest dealers bought more than one C8 hoping to flip them only to find out that anyone who wanted a C8 already had it and they didn’t need more than one, now they are forced to sell losing money on depreciation, insurance, registration and maintenance, I ordered mine and got it on July 2023 torch red 1LT HTC red striped wheels and yellow calipers no mark ups because im not an idiot and I wouldn’t sell it as I still have my C6 i bought 14 years ago and still looks amazing
Some dealers in north Texas have Hellcats sitting for over 400 days.
Its nuts how many dealers of all brands are sitting on cars bought at the top still. At some point they will have to let them go. Feel bad for the few suckers that don't do their research that will inevitably end up buying some of that inventory
I bought a 2024 1LT z51 coup about 3 months back for just 6k under MSRP and no dealer addons. I have to assume they were clearing out for the 2025s which were about to go on order.
The money I saved let me afford decent forged Aerolarri wheels to replace the awful OEMs.
Just had my order placed for a new 2025 2LT at 10% off ($8650). Couldn't refuse that. Almost every reputable dealer has similar deals as of now. MSRP or above days are over.
Can you share the name of the dealership? I would like to get a 2025.
Since this video was about the C8 Corvette, it would be interesting to see the market on the C7 Corvette range - Stingray, Grand Sport and Z06.
I will include them in the next corvette update.
C7 z06 probably retain pretty good value as the last true corvette.

I am about to get a 2023 2LT HTC with 3k miles for 74k. The car was 88K when rhey bought it.
As a lifelong Vette fan who's dream was to see a rear mid engines Vette - good. The bandwagon fans and idiots paying 40k over MSRP ruined the whole begining experience and launch of the C8 for actual fans trying to get one without getting robbed blind.
They may be depreciating, but I have yet to see a c8, even as far back as a 2020 model year, sell for less than 60K, and I'm talking the used c8 market. Prices are still too high
There’s half a dozen on car gurus for under 60k rn lol😂
The second I can get a c8 z06 for under 80k im on it lol.
I feel like that won’t happen. But I’m right there with you
@ShaneandBrooke it will eventually, maybe, probably... hopefully the zr1 makes all the rich folks have trade em in with negative equity so they just sell em off for the negative amount and I scoop one up during that. That's how I got a fully loaded 2015 mustang gt in 2017 for 26k 😆
😂🤡
Not anytime soon (if ever) unfortunately. Maybe a super clapped out rebuilt 1lz in a couple years.
@@MrAleB305a clapped out z06? Lol the people who can afford those cars aren’t generally clapping them out…. So many people use the term clapped out entirely too loosely, I’m not sure yall really know what it means.
They went from $68-83k where I live.
I waited an extra year and bought my C8 Corvette 2LT Convertible R, for $79,000. But it did have 14,000miles. I love this car.
64k for a 2LT z51/mag ride/front lift/get seats 30kmiles 2022 is that worth?
Bruhh 30k miles, hell nah. Jsut get new so you have your full warranty for 3yrs/ 36k miles bumper to bumper and 5 yr/50k miles drive train
2024 2lt msrp $79285 selling $69771 that's crazy 9k off there is some slamming deals
Did prices drop or come back to where they should've been...
I find c8 Corvettes to be on the same depreciation curve as the c7. As in there is no significant price disruption between 2019 c7 and 2020 c8. Have you guys seen the same?
Seems inevitable to me. As a former Vette owner (pre C8) they made a car many of us that liked Vettes don’t want. The base C8 looks boring like previous base cars. The Z06 is amazing but $$$$$$ literally double what previous Z’s went for, so yeah who’d a thunk huh
Just bought my 2lt with z51 package for 10k below msrp. Really good deal!
C8 is a very specific car. Very niche. Once the initial hype is over, there is very little market for it.
These continue to drop. I live in Michigan where you see lots of them and the used market is flooded with them (shockingly almost all listed higher than national dealer prices) and they’ve been up for months. Very interested to see what they will look like this winter.
One word for you bro: Inflation, Inflation is the reason people DON’T buy new cars 🚘.
Very limited market. Two seater, high price. Very few people looking for something like this.
Well this is NOT new with the Corvettes, when I’m in a new living situation where I have the room to do these things. I’m debating between a C4 or a C5, C4 because it gets MORE attention and it’s WAY cheaper, C5 because it looks better to me and it likely is going to be the SAME amount of fun as new Vettes.
Interest rates and high
inflation is driving this. You can order a new 25 for 10% below MSRP, but unless you're paying cash, you're going to pay that 10% back on intetest.
They make 275-300 corvettes every day 7!days a week. The market is flooded with c8’s
Chevrolet was always going to meet demand fully. Inevitable.
Really wanted the 1lt stingray but there was no way I was going to spend over nato for one.
Where man? I don't see this price going down I look at sale adds and don't see what you're talking about
Plan on buying a new 2024 C8 Z51 with a $7000 discount. Glad i waited
This is concerning...if, and only if, you're buying any car thinking it's an investment that won't depreciate.
Still cant find a discounted z06
After the ZR1 arrives the Z06 prices will go down. Until then, the best one can do is MSRP.
I’ll keep my Porsche

I feel sorry for yall keeping your Porsche.

I sold my 911s to be a new z51 conv. The vette is much more car for way less money
just bought my 2020 c8 3lt z51 fully loaded 14kmiles for 72k hopfully am able to sell it around 55-60 in a few years
Congrats on your new car 🎉
Who didn't see this coming with all the price gouging and people willing to be gouged earlier, enjoy your buyers remorse.
Keep that price down! Dream car
They still are wayyy too high. There's only a handful that are near their MSRP and even those are quite a bit used
The going rate for a stingray is 10% off. Any dealer who is charging above is a small time dealer who doesn't know what's up. You can order at Macmulkin for 10% off and they will ship it anywhere you want for about $1000. Z06s are also available at MSRP. Anyone who pays over just didn't do their homework.
That’s great no one buys a car as an investment so why are we having this discussion?
Because people want to be smart with their money and minimize loss?
What about the zo6? You think prices might go down in 2025 when zr1 will be live?
Is 64k a good deal for a 2020 1LT with 4k miles?
No
I wouldn't pay more than 55k..that is what it's worth..those that overpay for everything they buy probably would disagree.
I see them for 8k under MSRP brand new 2024 63k
Is it only because market is flooded with c8s or R they not a good car? I'm wanting a c,8 compared what c7 s pricing😮

Can you do another one as this one is 3 months old now
I mean if you paid highly inflated dealer markups you're crying now
This car was built to a price point and neant to be sold at that point.
Would really love to see a video covering UK maket for supercars especially gen 2 pre R8 V10+
Excellent as always.
This was predictable. When the car first came out, people went crazy to get one. Four years later, still a great car, but you won’t be the first guy on the block!
Truthfully. The supercar market Is growing tech wise. This car is based on a 13 year old Ferrari. That was 3 models ago..I wish I would have gotten a 911
I think they did alright for a car in the ~70s. The whole "we benchmarked a 458" is just marketing. Besides the fact that they went to a mid engine architecture idk what else it has to do with a 458. (besides the Z06 which has a NA FPC V8 like the 458, which other cars do too)
you mean to tell me that a car deappriciates? noooooo waaayyyyyy
And used C7 prices continue to rise, mostly due to that pesky 3rd pedal...
Nice 👍 now atleast its back to normal. I mean 100k for a stingray is expensive. Though You get 100k worth of car but its not affordable by most corvette fans.
Those that own a C8 are not worried about deprieciation like those that own a Ford Focus. If you have the money for a C8 you don't care. LOL
Can you make a video for C7s/z06/grandsport? thanks.
I will include them in the next Corvette video
Imagine buying a car as an investment.

is “fourth wheel” like “second handwheel”? if so, that’s genius
I ❤️ my 71 LS5 even more.

Always love the videos but unfortunately the data from the last few years is pretty much garbage, can't look at the correction from the C-vid bubble and apply it to the years looking forward. For example, Z06s may have corrected 32% from the peak but no way is that representative of the years to come.
I am also not claiming that these rates will apply to the future. The video is mainly descriptive. It is clearly outlined when i talk about future rates.
@@fourwheeltrader No I get it, not putting any blame on you. Just unfortunate for us data nerds who want to be able to make informed decisions.
never overpay for a vette, they are everywhere. They are not rare. Just wait
Misleading video.
*All* popular/cool cars cost way more at launch than MSRP.
When the excitement dies? So do the prices.
But it's not the prices that go down, it's premiums.
This video makes it sound like prices are going to "tumble" below 60-70k for a base C8.
And it won't. The older ones with more mileage will... but again, that's for every car.
Nothing new here.
You can already buy a 4,000 mile 2023 2LT Z51/Lift/magnetic ride for under 75K. There's one at a dealer in my town right now. Below 70K in a few months is a no brainer.
Good for me! I could probably afford one by the time I start making money.
"My depreciation cost more than your house."
Corvettes ceased looking like corvettes after the c6.
Appreciate the great work but can you do the VH platform Aston Martins’?
Transmission issues are going to make C8's like Porsche 997/987 models.
Do a Z06 video 🤝
The Z06 is included in the video
For 50k it's nice car)
None of the lower end models and trims, below a ZR1 should be above $120k. Chevy dealers just greedy now with prices!😆🤦🏾♂️
And Z06 should be between $109k-$119k in pricing with all the other models under $80k without mods😂☝🏾

We were told there would not be another v12, meaning people bought the 812.
Now, there is a NEW V12 cylindri coming.
Surely, this will drop prices. Your previous video did not mention a new car on the way.
Can you look into this, please?
The dealer made their bed, now sleep in it lol!!
The Dealer could care less or be of any real market significance. Supply and demand is king. What about the watch , real estate brokers etc. We ware in a downturn so guess what price deflation. Cycles are always present in the largest consumer economy in the world.
Get the z51 pkge and C8 can be loud and fast and add magnetic 🧲 suspension and C8 can be soft and quiet or hard . Skip the convert as no engine under glass lift out targa top ez on or off .
Thank god lol maybe I will be able to afford one
Vette lost it D.N.A!
The car is not that impressive. Have you ever driven a used c7? They are shitty feeling after 30k miles. My m235i at 100k miles drives like i bought it. The c7zo6 drove like shit. Sorry that was my experience so i assume that over engineered c8 will follow suit.

the corvette has always had price as a major selling point, so returning to a value advantage is no shock.. GM just has the inescapable advantage of mass production, but a consumer at the higher price points wants to make a statement , not just buy a car. doesn't matter to me, I have no need to play Ricky racer . with the traffic in my area, although expensive fast cars are very popular , at some point they are just a fish out of water and excessive consumption.
''Bidenomics is working'' Cackle, cackle, cackle...
C8 value proposition gets better and better definitely want a c8 in 2025 I wonder if I should wait longer tho 🤔
How long do you want to wait to enjoy the car? I couldn’t stand to wait another year and lose out on all that driving fun. Buy in the winter and drive it as much as possible.
Wait … at least till winter , last December first corvettes started selling before MSRP one dealer in Montana was selling it for 10k below MSRP
Used autos expected to jump up as few leases and high inventories of new cars .
New discounts
Used higher
But no guarantee in this volatile world .
@@Gadfly2025 I heard this on another channel but I don’t think this is gonna be the case because of insane prices and interest rates and negative equity people are holding on to their used cars longer. Plus in a shaky economy people slow down on buying expensive sports cars so they’ll be even more downward pressure on toys like corvettes
If you wanna drive now, you gotta buy now! You never know when life will be over.
Should have never made it look like a fake Lamborghini, improve the C7, bring back the American car middle-class Americans can afford and purchase
They were overpriced to begin with. People who can afford $100k for a C8 can swing $150-200k for a better car like a Porsche, Maclaren or Ferrari.
