I've been wanting to see a follow up story on Daniel. I'm so impressed with her journey. I wish her well, and some day hope to own a watch from her and her Father. OUTSTANDING follow up story.
Absolutely fascinating to watch. It looks like Mr Dufour's legacy is in extremely safe and capable hands. A Dufour has long been on my bucket list, and I would be honoured to eventually obtain one made by either the master or the master-in-the-making.
Thank you so much for another great interview! As many in the hobby I really admire Philippe Dufour but his daughter Daniela really is a gem! With the knowledge and attitude of her father she will be one of the few in the future that will continue the tradition of uncompromising perfection in watchmaking. I really see a bright future for her and the 'Dufour' brand! And as long as watchmakers and people like her exist this will prevent the whole industry from going extinct.
Thank you for this video and update Marc Andre. I am very happy that Mr. Dufour's daughter is carrying on his legacy. I hope that she, and others, will continue to carry this art and science of a craft into the future in good health.
Mr. Dufour is so proud! This is great to see, as much as I would love to get a Simplicity I know I probably never will but its good to see the tradition being passed down to the next generation. Can't wait to see her design a watch of her own, that is going to be something special.
She gives me hope for the industry and hope for independents. Most people wouldn't be able to handle the pressure of being the daughter of the best and most famous and of our lifetime but she's doing it with grace and class and is thriving! Amazing work!
@@watchestv-com thank YOU for playing your part in documenting extraordinary watchmakers and stories like this and Georges Dubois. The industry is full of secrets and I see this everyday even in the US where there are so few watchmaker. People feel threatened to share their knowledge when really it is the key to preserving our industry and Mr. Dufour pointed that our with his comments on schooling. The big brands are moving towards roboticized (if I can make up a word) watchmakers that replace parts and send the watch on it's way instead of understanding why the damage/wear is happening and knowing how to repair it....but I digress. Thank you again for all you do and for bringing us all such amazing videos!
i enjoy these videos with this watchmaking masters a lot...watching an interview with philippe dufour is like watching an interview with raffael, michelangelo or rembrandt van rijn. daniela is very lucky to have her father as teacher and i am a little bit envious...i wish her all the best for the future and that the legacy lives on forever.
May god bless them, love seeing Mr. Dufour he is a living legend. May he live many more years to come and teach his daughter in the amazing art of watchmaking at its finest level.
So inspirational and monumental, to see the Grandmaster in Watch making! Passing on the skills and exceptional craftsmanship on to daughter, she’s so fortunate and lucky! There isn’t enough Watchmaker, hopefully this blog will inspire other’s!
Very happy to see her story unfold. Daniela might consider herself very privileged as she is learning with the best among the best. There is hope for the Dufour legacy to live on and to see his work going into the next generation
I would love to have the chance to see a PD in the metal. They look stunning. Hopefully this ART never disappears. Kudos to Daniela for taking such a big challenge. Respect.
Sorry , I take a word from your description - "Daniela Dufour's evolution" now I am 71 - I don't know how to express my happiness Can you share my congratulations to that daughter 💖 💖
The way I see it, and with maximum respect to Ms Dufours own efforts, Daniela is a perfect representative of the need for what WatchesTV does: it has been one of the great sources of exposure for younger people. Again, I stress: the watch making industry (and the Swiss government) must continue to recognise what you guys do for the industry.
Well this really makes me and my small team extremely happy and proud. Am not sure the authorities care much about it unfortunately, but the simple thought is really appreciated. Many thanks for this.
j'ai beaucoup d'estime pour cette horloger hors pair il a raison d'être exigeant bravo à sa fille aussi d'avoir choisi ce magnifique métier avec un maestro comme professeur Nice job
A nice video about a wonderful story. Really touching to see that Philppe has his own daughter to carry on his craft. Emphasising that watchmaking is also a feminine craft
I think any of us who have studied at trade school have had the same experience as Daniela in that when you leave and start your first job you wonder why you spent all those years at school as you basically start learning again if your fortunate enough as I was and she is to be working for a master of the trade no matter what the trade is, watchmaking to cooking to woodworking and on. But fortunately for her she has her fathers DNA and passion and those things in a trade. With application and hard work as the lubrication take you to a whole other level. I have a feeling that she is going to be regarded in the same breath as her father and the likes of Roger Smith in the years to come.
Always interesting to see indeed! I think it's quite a statement from a watchmaker of his level to wear a mass produced watch like a Rolex. But I remember that Philippe some time ago said that these are just good quality watches that are very precise and that he just likes the watches for just those simple facts. IMHO It's refreshing to see that a master watchmaker like him sometimes looks at things in an un-emotional way like this without all the fuzz around it.
This is so originally beautiful to see..... Though I studied industrial design (Automotive & product design), I organically took to aesthetic design on horology.. Because the appearance is extremely important once a watch has a movement. I'll attend my first ever watches&wonders April 2024 with my refreshed aesthetics on the Rolex watches I'm upset with.. 🤣.. LV and it's lackluster mediocre designs, and some of a Dunhill re-entry. 🥂
Every 9000 Li long road starts with the first step. Today we have let's say 12 exceptional visionaire watchmakers. Of course superbrains we have more. Most important is the test of time....
This is awesome, his own daughter will continue his legacy. I cannot think of a better teacher :)
That’s totally true, no better teacher for sure 👍👍
Philippe Dufour is one of the all times greats. It’s very exciting to see his daughter put up the trade as well. Thanks for the update Marc!
You are totally welcome, thanks for watching and tour comment

Many many thanks for this 🙏🙏🙏
A very impressive woman: I hope the watch industry is smart enough to accept, respect and embrace her. Important for the biz
Very kindly put, thanks!
It makes me very happy to see the knowledge passed on to a new generation.
Us too, extremely important and meaningful
Knowledge is not genetic remember. Nowaday everybody use the word genius if they did a little fart...
Daniela, I wish you all the best and send my best wishes to your father.
That’s really nice of you, thanks so much

She definitely has, she’s so fully committed 👍👍

Lovely to see the next generation learning the trade. Great video.
Makes us very happy, thanks
Quel beau reportage! On sent la fierté du père lorsqu'il parle de sa fille qui suit son chemin dans cette passion. 👍👍👍
Absolument et très heureux de voir que ça le rend heureux!! Bien à vous

Father and daughter working together. It's a beautiful thing. Carrying on the Dufour name for many more years to come hopefully.
Plein d’avenir et d’espoir !!
J’espère que toute la communauté horlogère est derrière Daniela
C’est magnifique la transmission
Bravo

I love everything about this video. Love the Dufour family.
Oh that's nice to hear, thanks so much for this!!
Really enjoyed that Marc thanks for sharing that with us
Thank you for this video, so great to see them both and I wish Daniela all the success. There may still be hope to one day own a Dufour watch.
Many thanks for your comment 🙏🙏🙏
Magnifique reportage, très inspirant. Quel bonheur de voir l'art du bel anglage se perpétuer.

She has indeed the best professor by her side and she is so fully committed!!! Thanks for the comment and the very best to you
Maybe the dream of owning a dufour isnt so far off anymore... Kudos to the team, and looking forward to the future! Viva Watchmaking, viva horology!
I like your attitude and thanks for this 👍👍👍
Fantastic! So nice to see a young watchmaker developing!
And the regular follow should be really interesting to do and share! Best to you
Cant wait to see what is coming out from her. All the best
That's very nice of you and just give it some time but she has the professor in town!
Thank You Marc 🙏
Always a true pleasure, thanks
Thank you so much for doing this for us 🎉

I promise you that there is a special emotion radiating from these timepieces. Thanks for your comment 🙏
UA-cam needs to add a new XL LOVE button just for that video. So happy for Philippe and Daniela who are both making history as we speak.
That’s a very good idea 😉😉 thanks for the comment

Will be done and many thanks for this lovely comment. Best to you
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Danielle Dufour watches in the near future. Best of luck to her☘️
Will still take a bit of time, but one day could well happen!!

Great follow up , quite sure Daniela will be Mr. Dufour's watchmaker successor...Thanks Marc André
Very welcome, many thanks for this
I like this type of video about watch and clock manufacture
At 5:49 we see Dufour is wearing a now discontinued Rolex OP with coral red dial. He also owns a Rolex Pepsi on Jubilee. Love it!
very enjoyable and nice video thank you
Very welcome, thanks for this 🙏🙏
Thanks for sharing and amazing family business
You are very welcome, thanks for watching
Great follow up! Hope to see more in the future of the Dofour watchmaking. 👌
And you can count on us on this!! Best to you
...just awesome!
Glad you like it! Thanks a lot
you can tell, she is very intelligent and focused, I´m glad that the legacy of mr. Dufour will continue with her, and not with some big company
Great video.

So nice! They should make the "Grand Master Eternity by Dufour" together.
oh, she's wearing a Rolex Submariner :) 04:52 and Philippe a Rollie OP41 with the red dial 05:46 :)
Good watches ;)

That’s right
Du grand art... c'est le plus grand
Hey it’s your birthday Mark enjoy it
Not yet, soon, but already being able to do such a video is a nice bday present!!! Best to you
The master
👍👍
A beautiful watch maker, making beautiful movements, wearing a humble Rolex Submariner. Says a lot about the undisputed king.
What happened to his oldest daughter from his first marriage? She was also a watchmaker in training when we saw her in a older video biography.
I remembered that video too.
I think it's certainly a delicate situation.
I wish them well, both of them
One day I will order a watch to his beloved daughter and that will give me the taste of true Phillip Dufore watch.
Bon Chance Daniela! :)
👌
Thanks for sharing first
Glad to say nothing
Tears ❤️🆒
Oh that’s nice, thanks so much
Great! 🤟🙌🙌
OH NO! Now the red dial oyster perpetual will rise in price ;)
Hahahha ;)
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
She is the future.

And being able to give time to time ;)
Let it take the time...
It will indeed take time but on a very good path for sure and the right attitude
Philippe is wearing OP Coral dial and Daniela has a Sub - wow that says one or two things right?
🎩🤝🧢🌐👍🔝
👍👍👍
He wears a red Rolex oyster perpetual. 5:16 5:49
Philippe is wearing a Rolex oyster perpetual 41 red and her daughter a ceramic Rolex submariner. They are official sponsor of Rolex ahahahha
Let’s see if she can live up to his extremely high standards. I know many apprentices have left over the years.
The standards are indeed set super high!!!! Thanks
I'm surprised he's puffing his pipe in the work shop. Smoking leaves a film of tar on everything. That's not an optimal approach.
I've been thinking the same...
His daughter is black, quite unique mix specially in this trade
