    This is crucial. I've got a friend who's trying to pick up production, and I keep trying to emphasize how important at least some understanding of music theory is for him to really understand what he's doing. Thanks for the video

    Its good to learn this due to how certain songs start off at. I learned about bpm's and counting beats a long time ago it somewhat helped me but still is a little difficult. The key for me is knowing the songs, beats, And or acapella's before i play them and what they sound like and how they start off. So basically i go off hear or what i see on my serato screen if im using a turn table i go by eye site by spotting certain areas of the record that helps me too know where certain stuff is and where too start off on a song especially with intro's.

    Ayy didn't I just say I was a theory nerd? I love to see this kind of content. It's important for ppl to realise theory isn't ONLY the harmonic stylings of 18th century white eastern Europeans. Imo theory is just musical ideas put to words, and right now I ain't trying to resolve a false cadence via French neapolitan, I wanna baby chirp combo the intro to my next mix in on beat lol

    Nice job at explaining this, Swift is the only other one I see cover it like this. Do certain genres rely on different instruments to count thier music? Like hip hop uses snare while rock and dance use a kick. I have noticed this myself while learning but it doesnt seem to always stay like that. Maybe you might have a great explanation?

    • @DJLiftOFF
      @DJLiftOFF  2 роки тому +1

      Appreciate you! That’s a great questions. I think it varies but there are definitely commonalities in various genres such as the ones you mentioned like snare for hip hop.
      I like to just listen to each song and use whatever makes sense for the song because there’s always some type of kick, snap, snare, clap, or something on the down beats.
