I came up with a DIY setup similar to yours.
Using orange down rigger line for guy lines.
My hammock is a Kelty classic bivy that I made into a bridge.
And I made the tarp so that it also sets up as a Wheelan lean-to .

Watching you set up the camp brings fond memories of going out hunting and fishing with my grandpa and others 😁. He started taking me with,as soon as I wasn't breastfeeding any more. I had old pictures of me in saggy cloth diapers sitting on a buck's head holding the antlers. Being the first grandchild and a girl didn't matter to my pawpaw. Thanks for the good memories. I'm subscribed.

Always a great overnighter Rob, always love when you upload reminds me of the good parts of upstate NY I gave up when I moved down south, although I might be moving back up there (to the Hudson valley region this time instead of the Adirondacks). Prayers your hip pain isn't too serious and that you have a safe & full recovery. Congrats to the stepson on becoming a Marine as well. Dehydrated backpacker meals aren't really my cup of tea either but they've definitely come a long way over the last few years, I can actually tolerate them a bit more now. Cheers!

Mind sharing the gear/plan for processing and/or packing out the deer if you got one? I've seen the videos of people quartering them, putting the meat in game bags, and making a couple trips hiking the meat back to the truck. Is that what you were gonna do?

    • @BrooksandBirches

That would be my plan this year definitely! The pack I was using is a frame pack so I can haul meat with it but I will do a more in depth look in my next video if you like? I dragged my deer out of the woods last year and I'll never do it again lol
