Yeah, the guy that played the solo is ACTUALLY playing, the "song" portion is just through the radio speakers and the other guy is lip syncing.
@@Bleeglesplotch the first solo was also mixed. It’s subtle, but there are differences in what he’s playing in the video vs what we’re hearing. The most obvious example is the very last note of his solo. What he played live should not sound like that, he slid down the neck way too quickly for that double stop to sustain that long

These people were both pretty good but almost no one who is not a pro is likely much above 6-7. Look at real pros and there is a jump.

Exactly. I've played professionally for over 20 years and I agree, and I'm sure anyone else at or above that level (which probably includes you) would also agree.
Most of those negative comments probably come from people who play a little bit, know some terminology, etc., but still have a lot to learn. And those who don't play at all probably love the guy because he simply sounds great. (And that's the ONLY thing that matters, isn't it?) So it's kind of funny that the people who best understand that kind of excellence on guitar are the ones who've play the most and the LEAST! :)
By the way, the gal is pretty damn good, too. Not 100% sure she actually is producing exactly what you hear in this video behind her head like that, because the touch sounds pretty heavy on some of those lines and I don't think that would be so easy from that position. If that really is her all the way through, then she is a hell of a player!

@@Ebaggens2both of them were playing pentatonics but the dudes was way more refined and smooth with better phrasing while the girl played basic ones they teach you at the beginning of pentatonic stuffs, the little stunt was what masked her improv and directed the audience away from what she was playing. Even it was a dude in her place my point stands.
They were both good, but different styles. THe guy was definitely more riff driven. The girl's solo was far more melodic - which is as difficult to pull off.
I'd gladly play with either any time.
@@kinami7020 She didn't have nearly the number of notes he did. He did a bunch of appregio riffs - up and down the pentatonic shapes. It was nice and all in the key and pleasant. But hers had a melody that she created that was complementary of the song melody.

The phrasing was nothing special, it hardly was, it was basic pentatonic licks with a handful of stop and sustains, he didnt even do anything special with his phrasing it was bare bones, the dude hit a few bum notes, missed his bend, and most of it was comprised of like 3 basic patterns..

Both have more skill than I ever developed. I just watched the short he did same for drummers and felt the same thing, the woman just didn't feel it (ironically since women supposedly GET feelings better than men). If anything, I would question whether or not the band was setting women up for failure. I'm sure they could've found women who could beat those dudes.

The dude was also playing in pentatonic, so yeah, and his fills were slower than hers, and how can you dog on her for 'showing off' when that's the core concept of a FUCKING SOLO. Even if he was playing in phyrigian, he hit less notes per beat than she did.
