- Are The Slate VSX Headphones a game changer? YES!
A "Real " Review by a mixing engineer that mixes for a living.
Donny B. of Learn Pro Recording and ES Audio Recording in Los Angeles, CA.
This first listen review is for real - Trust! I have mixed a lot of records in my studios here at ES Audio. I know what it's supposed to sound like.
You have got to get these VSX Headphones - stevenslateaudio.com/vsx - You will not be disappointed. And even if you are. They will give you your money back - No Questions asked. You can't lose out here. Go! What are you waiting for?

Great review!! I was skeptical at first and said eff it and bought it... did a lil mix with them, then actually went into my car to see if the vsx was bs...man those headphones is the truth!!! One of the best Investments
Well said -
Thanks for this video I’ve been looking at the for a few days
Glad to help. From one audio pro to another, you will not be disappointed. Good looking out!
Really enjoyed your rants man, I'm sold!
They are even better with the recent update. Yay!
Great video! Love the review of the VSX
You gotta get some of these - SICK!
My favourite review. 😂 Mine arrived today. Looking forward to using them. Thanks bro ☺️🙏🏾👊🏾
Thanks - I had a blast doing the review. I normally don't do that. But these headphones are so good, I felt it my duty to tell the world! I hope you dig them. Let us know how it goes.
“The speaker companies must be pissed at you, bro!…”
🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha I love your energy man, great video
Thanks, Jack - I appreciate that.
Incredibly cool, how you present it. This presentation motivates me to buy it, although I‘m a little afraid if I (an amateur in mixing) can handle it. Thanks for helping trusting in this. The only reason why I buy it is to get my mixes car-ready and ready for those devices that most people use to listen to music, because I didn‘t manage that so far (I think). 💪🏻👏🏻👍🏻🙏🏻
Thanks for the comment - You should try them out and see if they work for you. If you ever need any advice or help with anything in the mixing department, there are tons of guys in this group who can help if questions arise. You can always DM me and I will critique a mix for you, etc. We are all family! Good luck and Happy Mixing!
I feel you man... though I bought these headphones since the release date. I'm still shocked and excited till today after every mix I finish...I keep on saying.. this cannot be real. Like what about all my investments and room acoustics and speakers and wiring and all that crap. How one cheap headphone can do all this?
Definitely, this is a new era we are living.
I got these the other day and like you, I thought I'd left my monitors on. Nope. These are awesome!
Exactly. Wow!, right?😃
I absolutely love mine! I’ve gotten the best mixes of my life
Yeah, You Right! I agree. Thanks for checking out my review.
Just bought ‘em
Hi! Do you mix at low or high volume with VSX? Also, do you prefer the V3 or V4 speaker version? I feel that V2 and V3 have more depth to the sound but maybe I am the only one to think that.
After watching your video I pulled the trigger
You will not regret it. I still can't believe how good these are. I still use them even while in my big ass studio. I just like the fact that I can do a car test without actually going out to the car. WHAT? Yea, you right!
After 2 months what is your verdict?
Thanks brovgoing out right now to buy it
You will not regret it. Enjoy!
@learnprorecording man was you right wowww after doing a full mix down then taking of headphones and listening back on my ns10s I get a smooth airy mix with a top end sheen I couldn't ever get just working g with the ns10 before completely amazed
What room do you recommend for electronic music imnleaning towards Mike deans room
@@unseenelementz Yes, Mike Dean and also The Club!
are usually reference Mix with Spotify. Is there a way to run the software standalone from the daw? i’m on Mac with an Apollo interface.
Do you want to reference Spotify through your VSX? I'm sure that can be done. But you will need creative routing inside your DAW to make that happen. You might get more answers if you ask in the FaceBook group, Steven Slate Audio Dojo. I'm sure someone has figured out how to do that. I use an analog console in my studio so it's set up to run everything there.
I have trouble connecting my vsx file to my fl studio daw, its nkt showing up in the files, can anyone explain why
Jump init the Slate DoJo FB Group. Tons of help there.
I’m getting ready to order a pair……
Tell us how you like them after you get used to them. I'm excited for you!
I just purchased today the essentials set. I actually have no interest in mixing but I want to have the best sounding quality headphones for listening to and being engaged in music and gaming. Do you think these do the trick
I have yet to try these with gaming and the essentials set. As straight headphones, they are pretty good. But, That would be expensive. There are less expensive headphones that sound good for less money. But give the VSX a try and let us know what you think. I would like to hear your opinion.
These headphones and the software are for........mixing music.
@@oinkooink Yes. But. I also use them during tracking sometimes. If I am working with a loud-ass guitar session and want to keep my hearing intact. I wear the headphones so I can adjust my volume down and keep it loud in the room for the deaf guitar player.
i just recieved them i still use them mainly for gaming they just came up when i looked up best headphones@@oinkooink
Sure, I think using them when tracking to assess tones and all that is a good idea. @@learnprorecording
The 1st rule of UA-cam remains true: skip to 1:00...or maybe even more.
Well, you know we got set up the joke, right?
A touch of eq on the vocals on this video would have been great lol
The editor does use a bit of compression on the two bus before outputting the video for UA-cam. Other than that, it's raw!
@@learnprorecording I can tell... It's a bit piercing lol
@@AetherScout Got it. Thanks for the input.
It's not just me is it? There's something there in the highs that's a bit in ya ear?
Which studio did you like the best?
Got to be NRG Nearfield - I've actually worked in that room, and this VSX is it!
@@learnprorecording Thanks for taking the time to respond! Much appreciated. Mine should be delivered in a hour or so. I’m pumped!

@@selimyenahc3184 I hope you have the same reaction I did. I'm excited to hear your thoughts.
4.0 sounds leagues better
That update came out shortly after I did this.
