  • Pivotal events like Near-Death Experiences (NDEs) can induce relativization of the ego: a confrontation with the vast fullness of the larger Self.
Universally consistent across cultures, NDEs are marked by out-of-body sensations, encounters with entities or deceased relatives, and environments filled with light, highlighting a shared psychological process at the boundary between life and death.
Carl Jung's near-death experience profoundly deepened his understanding of the psyche and its connection to the universal consciousness, reinforcing his belief in life beyond physical existence.
Open discussions enrich our understanding of NDEs within various cultural and historical contexts and provoke deeper reflections on consciousness as potentially expansive and eternal, aligning with modern and ancient perspectives on the human experience.

The Self is not a "not I". That makes the Self seem like a foreign object. The Self is in fact our True Nature. The Self includes yet transcends the Ego. The Self is nothing less than our own Divine Nature. The "dark side of the Self" is temporary. It is not a permanent feature of the Self. The dark side is the accumulated karma of the Soul or Self, which is the reincarnating Being. Jung did not write much about reincarnation but it is impossible to understand the Self and human nature without understanding reincarnation. The Self is you. The danger is that an ego that is still carrying loads of shame, fear, insecurity, etc, will identify with the Self prematurely...before the darkness has been purged and integrated. This results in an inflated grandiose ego, which is not good. The person must purge and integrate the repressed instincts, emotions, feelings, and complexes before integration of the ego and Self can take place. This is exactly what happens in spiritual awakening or kundalini awakening, which is roughly equivalent to Jung's "Individuation" process. The ego becomes integrated with the Self or Soul. Peace.

Ego can't discover the self. Ego-construct appears IN the self. Only the self can discover the self.

Ego can not experience the self ,it's the self experiencing itself . When the believe in an imaginairy self is gone the self remains .

This is interesting, thank you. Members of my family have all had NDE or supernatural experiences that were so convincing they left no doubt in our minds as to the existence of More Than This. In the decades since those initial events I’ve discovered a whole UA-cam community of psychics and spiritualists who share a loose, non-codified set of beliefs about the nature of reality, existence of a creator, and continuity of essence (the soul) upon physical passing. This inspired me to write two books on the subject from the viewpoint of the agnostic who gets inadvertently pulled in, should these interest you or anyone else. Food for thought. Cheers.

There was a product some years back called a Greater Grater . . . for the kitchen. Discuss amongst yourselves. What would Jung have said about his wife using that in her cooking endeavors ???

But what IS a literal burning bush? It is described as such and not “as” a burning bush. We may be speaking of different realms of perception: that of the perceiver & that of the one who receives what the perceiver witnessed. And the perceiver, too, is a recipient of that transcendent vision. So, trust (or faith) seems pivotal. Just some thoughts …

I don’t understand why we don’t call it God. Why the analytical approach?? Especially if Jung made it into science. ?? Also the self is light and dark but we stand against it?? When it’s dark?? Wholeness??? I’m so confused.

Some minds shuts down when you use certain words due to past conditioning around certain concepts, so if the goal is to reach as wide an audience as possible it can be helpful to use other words and people will add the labels they see most fit based on their past experience.

This is the irreverence that the presenters talked about. Science is a way making material nature predictable, but the basis of religion is sort of a bench to understand the spiritual nature of God. Through His messiahs we learn to marry science and nature with spirituality through faith

I sometimes wonder how far through the individuation process you broadcasters got. I do think you suffer from an academic, cerebralisation of these liminal experiences. The ego never confronts or encounters the self. We learn that emotions and feelings matter, that we seek more meaning than some pedestrian career. The ego is only aware that the self is attuned to more than we understand, or imagine understanding.
The ego learns of all it has learnt to overlook or hedge against. The ego meets the urge of deper impulses that grace finds harmony with.
