For being over 20 years later, it is VERY impressive seeing PS2 games look so good! And on a flipping phone!
insane
I mean they technically cost more then a PS2 Did 😂
@@Macc504Than.
NOT then.
But the ps2 emulation has been good for the last couple of years. My s22 runs ps2 games upscaled at 60fps and looks amazing. Phones should be running 8th gen games.
@@PSYCHOV3N0M Ok whatever
We are now living in very good time when it come to gaming emulation on Android phones. Even mediatek g99 and Snapdragon 860 can eun almost everything perfectly by now already much less these newer and strongest processors.
Completely agree, my kids got cheap phones with a g99 and i was surprised how smooth almost everything runs..
Yeah I have a SD865 in my Samsung S20+ and use a Gamesir X2 Pro controller. PS2 and GC are both pretty faultless.
gtx 1650 mobile still performs much better in terms of emulation.
But still didnt run shadow of colossus. Maybe will run almost on low settings.
@@AntiGrieferGamesand it uses more than 10x the power and sure ain't fitting in your hand
For the Gran Turismo 4 test, you should've done a race at one of the night tracks, like Special Stage Route 5. Those tracks tend to push the emulators to the absolute limit.
💯 agree 👍🏾
3:18 Been a follower of yours for a good number of years now and I can tell and also hear the excitement about God of War and how it's handling. I'm pretty sure in a very old emulation test video you said something along the lines that this game might never run at full speed on an emulator on a smartphone. I can remember the game stuttering and freezing, dropping frames and being almost unplayable most of the time. Amazing how fast technology advances and continues to !! 👍
Love the layout of having the emulation test on screen like this.
Hey ETA, I bought a N100 Mini PC because of you recently and it's one of the best decisions I've made. I only turn my workstation on when I actually have to work now. Awesome.
I love how much better the phone chips are getting for emulators
and Nintendo is not using them
I'd like to see sustained performance on some of these harder to run games. Like, can it maintain 60 fps at 4x for a half hour?
You will need a cooler, like every other phone on the market. Or drop settings.
Probably not. ETA prime doesn't really test these thoroughly. And since he makes money with affiliate links he also doesn't have an incentive to do so.
no
That would depend on the phone. I doubt most phones with this chip will be able to sustain this performance, except for gaming phones.
This new Gen 3 chip draws more power than the Gen 2.
@@AaronHendu Phones without coolers can perform wildly different depending on the cooling implementation (heat pipes/vapor chambers/area of heat dissipation) and software implementation.
And no, you don't need a cooler. Sure it improves performance, but these chips are designed without a cooler in mind. These aren't PC's.
I was waiting for this video only thank you
Waiting to see how the RedMagic 9 Pro will fare with the SD8G3 considering it has much better passive cooling and active cooling. That thing will be a gaming monster
I would not buy from them due to their repair costs
@@buster5661 By that logic, we shouldn't buy ANY electronic device because of their repair costs. Or we shouldn't buy cars because of their repair costs. Or buy a house because of their repair costs. We should just be homeless and go back to the stone age because of repair costs.
@@Gabilleta by that logic, you should by the Razer Edge as it is half the cost and the drivers are more optimized. It does the same and does it better at half the cost
You are ignoring my criticisms because you want to put your head up your butt. You want to act emotional and not logical, go ahead
@@buster5661 Explain how the Razer Edge "does it better"? It's an Android tablet with active cooling that comes with a gimped version of the Razer Kishi that you can't use with anything else other than the Edge. And if I go by your logic, repairing the Razer Edge is just as expensive as buying a new one, so I SHOULDN'T buy it because of the repair costs.
The RedMagic 9 Pro has demonstrably faster charging at 80w (Not even considering the Pro Plus will have even faster charging), a massive 6500mah battery in a sleek form factor, a MUCH better screen with much better touch response, capacitive triggers, much better cameras in comparison, robust passive AND active cooling, and a coprocessor dedicated for gaming. You can basically use ANY controller with it. The best part about it, you can still use it as a phone for everyday stuff. You can't do that with the Razer Edge. And both have expensive repair costs.
@@buster5661 To be honest charge seperation alone does help so much. My Red Magic 6R could last like 4-5 more years on the same battery when I calculated the charge rates. You can always bring charge cycles to .03-.05 per day enabling charge seperation while gaming. Usually without the charge seperation the average charge cycles would be .20-.25 for heavy use.
I use AccuBattery app and did so many months of testing on two phones. RM6R and Moto Edge S30. I usually stop the charge 50%-65% on RM6R while Moto Edge S30 I would use 25%-65% or the 30-65 charge strategy for .20-.25/day.
My battery for RM6R is still strong to this day. That phone is 2 years old. At 2-3 years I would be replacing the battery.
GTA V with highest graphics on android isn't too far off into the future now.😌
You're still stuck in 2013 lmaoo
@@sakshamsharma3527 says the one who's mindset hasn't grown past adolescence yet.
yea! we will probably see it in the next few years. But the price would be so expensive I would rather just buy a gaming laptop (hopefully it will be lighter and less hot haha)
Gta 5 can already be played even on snapdragon 870 on mid settings at 60 fps with emulators. and remember for emulating a game a phone needs to be 10 times faster to run, now imagine if they released gta 5 on smartphones. even a midrange phone will be able to run it with good customization
Redream isn't really maxed out unless you set polygon sort accuracy to per-pixel (64 layers), otherwise you'll get some visual oddities with per-strip like the odd looking beach in Sonic Adventure
I'm still waiting to see these CPUs in a small desktop PC to get a clear idea. So far we're still stuck with CPUs with a lot less power. I don't think we even got a desktop PC with a 480 or 680 to give SBCs a run for their money.
Rockchip are nice for SBCs or TV boxes, but you see their limits real fast.
❤😊 exactly what we wanted 😁 thankyou so much 😍🥳🥳🥳
& also WINLATOR PC GAMES emulation
I'd love to see you review the iQoo 12. It's technically a gaming phone, but it doesn't look like one. It looks more elegant in my opinion. It has a crazy good cooling system.
it looks a bit unpolished
EGG NS is working great for switch emulation on my IQOO 12 (8 Gen 3). Tested DMC 2 and Astral chain. Sure is a powerful beast!!!
Great .. I just bought the Odin 2. Surely there will be a refresh with this new chip.
I wish we would see hardware like this in a box I can connect to my TV.
Just connect your phone to the TV and a BT mouse and keyboard to your phone. If you own a Samsung using Dex will make it much easier to use with your TV.
Lame
i'm using orange pi 5 to playing videos game but i really hope i can find a stronger SBC like 8+ gen 1 or 8 gen 2 :) u read my mind bro !
@@ramoraid BT mouse and gamepad are terrible for gaming. Also look for SBC with Qualcomm SOC. 1 or 2 years ago there was/is a 855 or 865 SBC (maybe 845, I forgot). A little pricey though for what you get.
@mikitgraff edit for there was an 845 SBC which I don't know if you can still buy. there are also HDKs (basically SBC with built in screen) for snap 888, 8gen1 and gen2. I think qualcomm has a SBC for snap8 gen2. most of these have 4 digit prices.
Retroid Pocket devices can do that.
I want this chip in a small desktop console!
Im waiting on the snapdragon gen 4 so I can run my games at 18x resolution on my 1080p screen
My pixel 6a works great but happy to see what we can really do actually 🎉🎉👌🏆👍
Thanks for the video. A small type in description. "This cpu will be in a lot of the new 2024 flagship android phones like the Galaxy S4" It should be S24.
My Odin 2 also does PSP God of war at 10x without any problems
Theres a few games I'd like to see running on aethersx2 upscaled the Simpsons Road Rage, Chaos Legion and Shadow Hearts
What do you use to connect your phone to a monitor? Any suggestions for an HDMI to phone hub?

A console with a Gen 3, wired to a tv, would be an absolute emulation monster
Thank you for including the *actual* render resolutions of the games you emulate. It gets annoying when other reviewers gush over "the deivce can go up to 10x upscale" when that number means nothing.
Um...it does mean something? It wpuld be 10x the native resolution of whatever game and system your are emulating. It isnt rocket science.
@AaronHendu its rocket science to me, 10x resolution?? 15 what gdp idk 🤷♂️
Makes it sharper with larger screens. Not the small screen on the phone. But have it on to look for stutters.
@@AaronHendu because that number does not specify the pixel count, aspect ratio or whether it's interlaced or progressive scan, which determines image quality and changes on a per-game and per-emulator basis. It *is* rocket science because you'd have to calculate and memorise the end user resolution of each and every single game you play, rather than just being told what it is and adjusting settings efficiently.
When you're tweaking the graphics settings on a PC game, buying a new TV in a store, ordering an ultrawide monitor online or checking a console game's resolution target, the resolution is specified, not some nebulous multiplication factor. Congratulations, you burned through your handheld's battery because you ran a game at 1800p with wonky integer scaling and interlacing because "10x" sounded like a sexy number.
@@AaronHendu most old games are locked to 480i/480p while others adapt to the devices native resolution and some have weird resolutions so its nice to know what's the game's resolution. also not everyone knows what resolution each console was using

So far, I wouldn't expect Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 emulation until around 2026. They're still under development and it has been slower not only because of their more complex PowerPC hardware which was why the Switch emulator was mastered quickly as it had a Tegra which was easy to figure out. I'd say it won't be until around 2025/2026 till we get PS3/Xbox 360 emulation on Android. Don't expect RTX 3080 performance until around 2027/28 at best case scenario, depending on how quickly Qualcomm pushes those limits.
PS3 is definitely coming first despite being significantly more demanding and complicated to emulate 360 will probably come by 2030 or never since even the og xbox never came
you wont be seeing 3080 performance in other decade or two, but maybe ps3 in 2030 on 1080p resolution
@@munnumkhalid PS3 lvl is already here but emulation is problem...
Haha RTX 3080 performance is not coming to mobile in 3 years, whatchu smoking?
lol Nintendo switch has snapdragon 835 equivalent cpu and it run Witcher 3 like smooth. i saw a guy emulating Witcher 3 on snapdragon 870 and the game run so smoothly. and remember it's a Ps4 game. so i think snapdragon 8 gen 3 is miles ahead in terms of performance. it's even close to Ps5 in terms of performance
What is the site you used for the cellular phone search it's very interesting to me and I wouldn't mind using it do you mind sharing it?!
Would like to see how it handles games on winlator.
I think, finally, the best chip for playing all emulators in HD has arrived ! 2x resolution and even if you want to push it to the limit 3x resolution is enough for smartphones.
Thank you ETA for testing!
Could you try running Transformers on PS2. Even with the Odin 2 I still have some slight issues with it visually
Damn, Xi jinping special still slaps hard!
Dose it still have a IR blaster and thot protection?
Hello, that overlay with the clocks its from the phone or emulator please?

Hi, could you do us a favour and when you're showing Gran Turismo 4 emulation, can you please show the Hong Kong track as that's where the frame dips on phones and handhelds occur. Steam Deck really struggles and there is a huge slow down which makes it unplayable. The tracks you are showing are always easy to run so it would be nice if you would going forward focus on the HK track when you wanna stress a handheld or a phone. There were a few more tracks with slow downs but can't recall their names. Thanks
It does that kind of thing on other tracks for me too but I do have an older phone. On my desktop it's all perfect.
would like to see how Vita3K runs that too =D

Does drastic Nintendo ds emulator work on it? I think it's a 32bit app and I hear gen 3 is not compatible
What can I expect with the galaxy s24 exynos version , I bout it for emulation thinking it had snap gen 3, but yeah it does not. Can it still run 3ds ps2 GameCube well?
Yeah, there's the windows games that someone won't wait to run on a Asus ROG Ally, Ayaneo, gpd and so on which generation of games can run under emulation or via steam direct or hosted pc?
What site was that with the upcoming mobile phone list?
Same chip as in the upcoming Aya Neo Pocket S, right?
The crazy thing is iphone 13 ran rogue at 60fps 1080p a few years ago. How is it something like that is possible and android is just able to run it now at 1080? This has to be because of how high the cpu score for iphone is since dolphin is pretty cpu bound.
